I'm having the same problem noted here, and when I tried the first fix I found that my /etc/default/grub was empty. I'm willing to try this solution, but I don't know how to remove those drivers. In addition, I'd like my graphics card to be running at optimum efficiency.

For now, sudo reboot and sudo shutdown -h nowseem to be working (others have reported that they may only work temporarily), but I don't wish to open a terminal and type my password every time I want to turn my laptop off.

What to do?
