Word 2003 set styles won't convert over when opened in Word 2010

If I have set styles in a Word 2003 document, how can I get the set styles to appear when the document is opened in Word 2010?

When I open the document that was created using 2003 (that has set custom styles), in 2010 it converts everything to the 2010 styles. When I try selecting Change Styles?Style Set?Word 2003, it doesn’t pick up my custom styles; it only picks up the default 2003 styles. I want to be able to keep my custom styles that were created in the template using 2003.
