Welp, computer died. Time to get a new motherboard.
I haven't been paying attention to the latest motherboard technology and associated models and chipsets.
Can someone point me at an overview of what is currently available? I'm primarily interested in the Intel / nvidia side of things.

I…

Well, my computer didn't come with a stock PC speaker
I noticed also that laptops tend to not have PC speakers either, but they make bios/beep sounds through their normal speakers.
How can I configure my desktop machine to behave that way?
I have a SB-XFI card

i have some software running on a server which requires a sound card to be installed.
i'm trying to find a virtual, or emulated, sound card driver for Windows 2000 Server. It doesn't have to play anything, send streams anywhere, or do anything. It just has to be there.
