  • Accurev SCM

    Does anyone use Accurev for Source Control Management? We are switching (eventually) from StarTeam to Accurev. My initial impression is that the GUI tool is severely lacking, however the underlying engine, and the branches as streams concept is incredible. The biggest difficulty we are facing is assessing our own DIY tools that interfaced with starteam, and either replacing them with DIY new tools, or finding and purchasing appropriate replacements. Additionally, is anyone using the AccuWork component for Issue management? Starteam had a very nice change request system, and AccuWork does not come close to matching it. We are evaluating either using Accuwork, or buying a 3rd party package such as JIRA. Opinions?

  • How do I get accurev to find a moved workspace?

    I created a workspace in AccuRev under M:\EclipseWorkspaces\. The project checked out fine. Then I moved the project to C:\EclipseWorkspaces\. Now AccuRev thinks the project does not exists. This is probably because AccuRev is looking for the project on my M drive. How do I get AccuRev to find my project? I am using version 5.3. This computer is slow so I'd like to do this using the CLI. Update: I deleted the workspace in the AccuRev client.... Can I add the workspace on my C drive into my stream in AccuRev?

  • Best way to "un-promote" files in Accurev?

    My company uses Accurev for source control, and for all its benefits, there's one simple action that I just can't figure out how to accomplish. Often we have someone accidentally push a file up too far in our stream structure -- from the "Development" stream to the "Release" stream, for example. What is the best way to "un-promote" this file? That is to say, to get the old version of the file back into the "Release" stream, and keep the new version of the file in the "Development" stream, where it belongs? Just doing a "Revert to Backed" or other Revert action on the file in the Release stream will either cause an old version of the file to propagate down into Development, or will make the file disappear entirely. In the above case, the developer will have to jump through hoops with setting basis times on streams, or use the command line tool to do a checkout of an old transaction, to get the file back. Sometimes the people in question are non-technical, so this is not a good solution. I have also considered moving the files to a "higher ground" stream, reverting, and then cross-promoting them to the lower stream again. This seems really kludgy. It seems like Accurev is obscure enough that Google is no help, so I turn to the good folks of StackOverflow for help -- has anybody figured out the "Accurevy" way to accomplish this?

Will this command (taken from svn's "red book") creates a copy of <foo.txt> while preserving the history of it to be shared with <bar.txt>? If I'm changing <bar.txt>, what will happen to <foo.txt>? What are the equivalents to this in other modern systems (Clearcase, Accurev, Perforce)? Clarification: Let me emphasize the point I'm searching for: Is this kind of branching out on a file level? What happens if you use it in the same branch, i.e. create a copy of a file and than start changing that new file. all in the same branch?     I'm playing with git in isolation on my own machine, and even like that I find it difficult to maintain a mental model of all my branches and commits. I know I can do a git log to see the commit history from where I am, but is there a way to see the entire branch topography, something like these ascii maps that seem to be used everywhere for explaining branches? .-A---M---N---O---P / / / / / I B C D E \ / / / / `-------------' It just feels like someone coming along and trying to pick up my repository would have difficulty working out exactly what was going on. I guess I'm influenced by AccuRev's stream browser...

  • How to support 3-byte UTF-8 Characters in ANT

    I am trying to support UTF-8 characters in my ANT script. As long as the character string are made up of 2-byte UTF-8 characters, such as: Lògìñ Ùsèr ÌÐ Then things work fine. When I use Unicode Han Character: ? Which, according to this site: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/6211/index.htm Has a UTF-8 encoding of 0xE6 0x88 0x91 I can see in UltraEdit, my input properties file has the values "E6 88 91" all in a row, so I'm fairly confident that my input is correct. And When I open the same file in Notepad++ I can see all the characters correctly.
