How does the data storage work? [closed]

I am really new to the whole concept of Data storage, Domain, Server and everything else related to this.
Can someone pleases explain what a Domain is? How are server part of the Domain and How are Database stored in the Server or Domain?
How does a new server be able to connect to existing database server to get all the data needed.
I tried to find this information in the web but I am not really finding a good resource. It may be because these is really basic information.
I will really appreciate if someone can explain these concept in plain terms.
