  I just watched this video on Ted.com entitled: Joshua Foer: Feats of memory anyone can do and it got me thinking about memory from a programmers perspective. There are so many abstract concepts and syntactic nuances we encounter daily, and yet we still manage to remember enough information to be productive. The memory palace may help in remembering someone's name or a random story but are there any memorization techniques that can better aid programmers?

  I know there are those out there who have read a slurry of books on a specific technology and only code in that one particular language, but this question is aimed at those who need bounce around between using multiple technologies and yet still manage to be productive. What is the most efficient way to study multiple languages, frameworks, and APIs as a developer without becoming a cheap swiss army knife? And how much time should one dedicate to a particular subject before moving to another?

  Possible Duplicate: Where do you draw the line for your perfectionism? I see that the development community is very focused on doing things the right way and personally I would like to do the same too, however, is it a good or bad idea for a newbie to focus on design principles, design patterns, and commenting code when getting started, or is it better to let creativity run wild and potentially write sloppy code. Where should a newbie draw the line?

• What is occurring in the world of server-side technologies in regards to the mobile app boom?

  With mobile technologies becoming increasingly popular what is happening on the server-side with most of these apps when they need to communicate with a back end? I'm used to the world of technology from 10 years ago when most resources were accessed by requesting a dynamic web page that behind the seen used a server-side language to get the information it needed from a relational database. Is this still the case, and if not, what are the big changes?

• Is possible to create an intranet site in Ruby on Rails? [closed]

  I'm just coming out of a .Net course and I'm wondering whether it is possible to create an intranet site using Ruby on Rails, and if so, would it even be a good idea. I plan on creating a web site for a vendor that hopes to open up a physical location and it would be beneficial for us to go with a technology that could tie their web front into their intranet for helping them manage orders and logins, but at the same time still have a low cost.
