  • - (void)alertViewCancel:(UIAlertView *)alertView is not called

    - by Sean
    Hi all I've got the problem that the UIAlertViewDelegate method - (void)alertViewCancel:(UIAlertView *)alertView is not called when I cancel a AlertView with it's cancel button. Weird is that the delegate method - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex works perfectly. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance Sean

  • iphone - presenting an alertview with the right orientation

    - by Mike
    I have to present an alertview when my app starts. My app supports both landscape modes. Despite the landscape mode the device is when the app starts the alertview always shows in portrait. I have tried to use the accelerometer to detect the interface orientation before the orientation notification and I have the correct orientation 2 seconds before the alertview showing. Then, I use this code to set the status bar to a different orientation, hoping the alertview will follow... [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight]; or left, depending on the landscape mode. Nothing works. Is there a way to force the alertview to respect the orientation? The point here is this: I cannot set one landscape orientation in particular for the status bar, I have to detect the orientation the device is on and then set the status bar orientation. thanks for any help.

  • show UIAlertView when In app purchase is in progress

    - by edie
    Hi... I've added an UIAlertView that has UIActivityIndicatior as a subview on my application. This alertView only show when the purchase is in progress. I've put my alert view in this way in my StoreObserver: - (void)paymentQueue:(SKPaymentQueue *)queue updatedTransactions:(NSArray *)transactions { for (SKPaymentTransaction *transaction in transactions) { switch (transaction.transactionState) { case SKPaymentTransactionStatePurchasing: [self stillPurchasing]; // this creates an alertView and shows break; case SKPaymentTransactionStatePurchased: [self completeTransaction:transaction]; break; case SKPaymentTransactionStateFailed: [self failedTransaction:transaction]; break; case SKPaymentTransactionStateRestored: [self restoreTransaction:transaction]; break; default: break; } } } - (void) stillPurchasing { UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle: @"In App Purchase" message: @"Processing your purchase..." delegate: nil cancelButtonTitle: nil otherButtonTitles: nil]; self.alertView = alert; [alert release]; UIActivityIndicatorView *ind = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc]initWithActivityIndicatorStyle: UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhiteLarge]; self.indicator = ind; [ind release]; [self.indicator startAnimating]; [self.alertView addSubview: self.indicator]; [self.alertView show]; } When I tap my the buy button this UIAlertView shows together with my UIActivityIndicator.. But when the transaction completes the alertView still on the top of the view and the Indicator was the only one that was removed. My question was how should I release the alertView? Or where/When should I release it. I've added these command to release my alertView and Indicator on these cases: case SKPaymentTransactionStatePurchased: case SKPaymentTransactionStateFailed: case SKPaymentTransactionStateRestored: [self.indicator stopAnimating]; [self.indicator removeFromSuperview]; [self.alertView release]; [self.indicator release]; I've only added the alertView to show that the purchasing was still in progress. Any suggestion to create any feedback to users will be thankful for me.. Thanks

  • Display CFUserNotification on iPhone lock screen

    - by user1768826
    I am developing an iPhone app that need to display some message on lock screen. I have tried to use local notification or CFUserNotification but neither of them can display the message on top of the lock screen. For CFUserNotification I have tried kCFUserNotificationAlertTopMostKey (refer this similar question) but it still not work. I am not going to hook springboard since my phone is not jailbreak. I have found an app do implement it and I have tested on my none-jailbreak iPhone iOS 6.0, don't know how to implement this. Any help much appreciated.

  • change width of UIAlertView in iPad

    - by Krishnan
    Hi Friends, Is there any way to change the frame of the UIAlertView in iPhone or iPad. I tried changing the frame in the following delegate method- (void)willPresentAlertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView; but even then the width of the Alertview remained unchanged. And I think a small Alertview in iPad will not make sense. And I guess there must be a way to achieve it, at least in iPad. Thanks, krishnan.

  • How to call another class's method from my app delegate

    - by Jared
    I have an application that utilizes UILocalNotifications to pop-up UIAlertViews. When the notification fires, the user chooses to go into the app, and this method is called from my app delegate: - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions {...} Where I can handle it and where I also prompt another alertview for more information. So when the app launches, it is displaying view A, and then the alertview pops up and prompts for input. This alertview, however, is originating from my app delegate. I need to be able to reload view A when the user hits Yes/No on the alertview. How can I do that from within my app delegate? Any help is appreciated!!

  • The delegate method "clickedButtonAtIndex:" is not called.

    - by sagiftw
    Hello everyone! I have created an alert view with two buttons using the following code: UIAlertView *alertView = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle: title message: msg delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"Replay" otherButtonTitles:@"Highscore", nil]; [alertView show]; I want to run some code when one of the buttons is clicked. In order to do so, I have added the following method to the delegate.m file: - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if (buttonIndex==0) //Run some code else //Other code } But this method is not called when I press either of the buttons! Can someone tell me why? Thanks in advance, Sagiftw

  • Push notification not received in ios5 device

    - by Surender Rathore
    I am sending push notification on device which has iOS 5.0.1, but notification is not received on iOS5 device. If i try to send notification on iOS4.3.3 device, it received on this device. My server is developed in c# and apple push notification certificate is used in .p12 format. My code to register the notification is - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after application launch. // Set the navigation controller as the window's root view controller and display. deviceToken = nil; self.window.rootViewController = self.navigationController; [self.window makeKeyAndVisible]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] enabledRemoteNotificationTypes]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] registerForRemoteNotificationTypes: UIRemoteNotificationTypeBadge | UIRemoteNotificationTypeSound | UIRemoteNotificationTypeAlert]; return YES; } - (void)application:(UIApplication *)application didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken:(NSData *)devToken { UIAlertView *alertView=[[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle:@"Succeeded in registering for APNS" message:@"Sucess" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alertView show]; [alertView release]; deviceToken = [devToken retain]; NSMutableString *dev = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; NSRange r; r.length = 1; unsigned char c; for (int i = 0; i < [deviceToken length]; i++) { r.location = i; [deviceToken getBytes:&c range:r]; if (c < 10) { [dev appendFormat:@"0%x", c]; } else { [dev appendFormat:@"%x", c]; } } NSUserDefaults *def = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [def setObject:dev forKey:@"DeviceToken"]; [def synchronize]; NSLog(@"Registered for APNS %@\n%@", deviceToken, dev); [dev release]; } - (void)application:(UIApplication *)application didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"Failed to register %@", [error localizedDescription]); UIAlertView *alertView=[[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle:@"FAILED" message:@"Fail" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alertView show]; [alertView release]; deviceToken = nil; } - (void)application:(UIApplication *)application didReceiveRemoteNotification:(NSDictionary *)userInfo { NSLog(@"Recieved Remote Notification %@", userInfo); NSDictionary *aps = [userInfo objectForKey:@"aps"]; NSDictionary *alert = [aps objectForKey:@"alert"]; //NSString *actionLocKey = [alert objectForKey:@"action-loc-key"]; NSString *body = [alert objectForKey:@"body"]; // NSMutableArray *viewControllers = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray:[self.navigationController viewControllers]]; // // if ([viewControllers count] > 2) { // NSRange r; // r.length = [viewControllers count] - 2; // r.location = 2; // [viewControllers removeObjectsInRange:r]; // // MapViewController *map = (MapViewController*)[viewControllers objectAtIndex:1]; // [map askDriver]; // } // // [self.navigationController setViewControllers:viewControllers]; // [viewControllers release]; //NewBooking,"BookingId",Passenger_latitude,Passenger_longitude,Destination_latitude,Destination_longitude,Distance,Time,comments NSArray *arr = [body componentsSeparatedByString:@","]; if ([arr count]>0) { MapViewController *map = (MapViewController*)[[self.navigationController viewControllers] objectAtIndex:1]; [map askDriver:arr]; [self.navigationController popToViewController:[[self.navigationController viewControllers] objectAtIndex:1] animated:YES]; } //NSString *sound = [userInfo objectForKey:@"sound"]; //UIAlertView *alertV = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:actionLocKey // message:body delegate:nil // cancelButtonTitle:@"Reject" // otherButtonTitles:@"Accept", nil]; // // [alertV show]; // [alertV release]; } Can anyone help me out with this issue.   • Pause code execution until UIAlertView button is pressed?

    - by JuBu1324
    One of my methods sends a message to an object (what do you know about that), and expects a BOOL for an answer. However, BOOL answer it is expecting is based on the answer to a UIAlertView created in the receiving object's method. However, the code doesn't pause while waiting for the user to answer the UIAlertView. My problem is: how do I use -alertView:clickedButtonAtIndex in the method's return value? Here's the code the message runs (in this construction, I was expecting navigateAwayFromTab to change based on the user input in the UIAlertView, but it never gets a chance): - (BOOL)readyToNavigateAwayFromTab { NSLog( @"message received by Medical View"); navigateAwayFromTab = NO; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Navigate Away From Tab?" message:@"Navigating away from this tab will save your work." delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Cancel" otherButtonTitles:@"OK", nil ]; [alert show]; [alert release]; return navigateAwayFromTab; } #define CANCEL 0 #define OK 1 - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if( buttonIndex == OK ) navigateAwayFromTab = YES; } I've been reading up on the modal UIAlertView debate, and I agree with apple's implementation - at lest as the rule. However, in this case I don't see any way of solving the problem by putting code in -alertView:clickedButtonAtIndex because I don't need to run code based on the UIAlertView, I just need to read the response. Any suggestions on how I can reach my gaol? I've tried a while loop after [alert show] already, but then the alert doesn't even show then, and for a number of reasons I can't use -viewWillDisapear.

  • UIAlertView choice causing resignFirstResponder to fail

    - by Chazbot
    Hi everyone. I'm having a similar issue to Anthony Chan's question, and after trying every suggested solution, I'm still stuck. Somehow, only after interacting with my UIAlertView, I'm unable to dismiss the keyboard in another view of my app. It's as though the Alert is breaking my UITextField's ability to resignFirstResponder. Below I instantiate my UIAlertView, which then calls its didDismissWIthButtonIndex method. Then, I call the showInfo method, which loads another UIViewController. UIAlertView *emailFailAlert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Error" message:@"error message text." delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Not now" otherButtonTitles:@"Settings", nil]; [emailFailAlert setTag:2]; [emailFailAlert show]; [emailFailAlert release]; Once the 'Settings' option is pressed, I'm calling this method: - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView didDismissWithButtonIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if ([alertView tag] == 2) { if (buttonIndex == 1){ [self showInfo:nil]; } } } My showInfo method loads the other ViewController, via the code below: - (IBAction)showInfo:(id)sender { FlipsideViewController *fscontroller = [[FlipsideViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FlipsideView" bundle:nil]; fscontroller.delegate = self; fscontroller.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:fscontroller animated:YES]; [fscontroller release]; } Upon clicking any textField in this Flipside VC, I'm unable to dismiss the keyboard as I normally can with - (BOOL)textFieldShouldReturn:(UITextField *)textField, and [textField resignFirstResponder]. I've omitted this code bc this question is getting long, but I'm happy to post if necessary. The interesting part is that if I comment out the [self showInfo:nil] call made when the button is clicked and call it by clicking a test button (outside the alertView didDismissWithButtonIndex: method), everything works fine. Any idea what's happening here? Thanks in advance!

  • UIAlertViewDelegate clickedButtonAtIndex: usefulness?

    - by Ed Marty
    The UIAlertViewDelegate protocol defines two methods, alertView:clickedButtonAtIndex: and alertView:didDismissWithButtonIndex:, which seem to me to be identical in usefulness. Why is there a clickedButtonAtIndex and a didDismissButtonWithIndex when they both do the same thing? I realize there is also a willDismissButtonWithIndex that happens before the alert view is dismissed, but is there any reason to use clickedButtonAtIndex instead of didDismissButtonWithIndex?

  • I get the warning "Format not a string literal and no format arguments" at NSLog -- how can I correc

    - by dsobol
    Hello, I get the warning "Format not a string literal and no format arguments" on the NSLog call in the following block: (void) alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", buttonIndex]); } I have read in another post here that this error message indicates an insecure use of NSLog. Could someone point me in the direction of a properly formatted string for this? Thanks for any and all assistance! Regards, Steve O'Sullivan

  • UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum with malloc_error

    - by lbalves
    I have an NIB file with a button. When I click this button, the setWallpaper: selector is called. Everything works as expected (the image is saved), excepte by the error thrown by malloc. malloc: *** error for object 0x184d000: pointer being freed was not allocated *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug I've set a breakpoint at malloc_error_break, but I don't understand anything from the debugger. I couldn't even find the object 0x184d000. Does anyone know why is this happening? I had also tried to retain the UIImage before sending it to UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum, but without success. My code is below: - (IBAction)setWallpaper:(id)sender { UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"wallpaper_01.png"]; UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum(image, self, @selector(image:didFinishSavingWithError:contextInfo:), nil); } - (void)image:(UIImage *)image didFinishSavingWithError:(NSError *)error contextInfo:(void *)contextInfo { UIAlertView *alertView = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Galo!!!",@"Saved image message: title") message:NSLocalizedString(@"Now, check your \"saved photos\" group at \"photos\" app in your iPhone and select the actions menu > set as wallpaper.",@"Saved image message") delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"OK",@"OK Button") otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alertView show]; [alertView release]; }

  • UIAlertView clickedButtonAtIndex with presentModalViewController

    - by Vivas
    Hi, I am trying to call a view via presentModalViewController from a UIAlertView button. The code is below, the NSlog is displayed in the console so I know that code execution is indeed reaching that point. Also, there are no errors or anything displayed: - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if (buttonIndex != [alertView cancelButtonIndex]) { NSLog(@" The username is: %@ AND the password is: %@ ",textField.text,passTextField.text); // do some logic in here later CompanyViewController *companyViewController = [[[CompanyViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"CompanyViewController" bundle:nil] autorelease]; [self presentModalViewController:companyViewController animated:YES]; } [textField resignFirstResponder]; [passTextField resignFirstResponder]; } * Edit: The method above belongs to a UIViewController. Below is the interface file: @interface testingViewController : UIViewController <UIAlertViewDelegate, UITextFieldDelegate> { UITextField *textField; UITextField *passTextField; } @property (nonatomic, retain) UITextField *textField; @property (nonatomic, retain) UITextField *passTextField; @property (readonly) NSString *enteredText; @property (readonly) NSString *enteredPassword; @end Any help is appreciated.

  • FaceBook UIAlertView problem

    - by william-hu
    My iPhone application connects to facebook . After i log in ,then appear one button named "Add feed to your wall". If i click it , pop a UIAlertView which ask "Yes" or "no". If "Yes", show the FBStreamDialog. But the BFStreamDialog just flash, then disappear. I don't know why. this is my code. First , click the button " Add feed to your wall". call changeFeed: function. -(IBAction) changeFeed { UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Sporting Summer Festival Monte-Carlo" message:@"Are you attending this concert?" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"No" otherButtonTitles:@"Yes",nil]; [alert show]; alert.tag = 1; self.alertView =alert; [alert release]; } Then, if you choose "YES" button. Call this function: - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if (buttonIndex == 0) { NSLog(@"NO"); } else { NSLog(@"YES"); [self showAddFeed]; } } And this is the showAddFeed function , which is defined in front of "clickButtonAtIndex". -(void)showAddFeed { FBStreamDialog dialog = [[[FBStreamDialog alloc] init] autorelease]; dialog.delegate= self; dialog.userMessagePrompt = @""; [dialog show]; } Just cant work well. I don't know why? Thank you for your help.

  • UIImageView subclass with CGRectIntersectsRect - help!

    - by Flafla2
    The title of this question should be pretty self explanatory. I am making an app that involves multiple UIImageViews that serve the same purpose. They are merely different sizes. Anyway, I decided that the best solution was to make UIImageView subclasses, link the subcalsses in IB, and work from there. My code should explain this better - #define kPausedStatePaused 1 #define kPausedStatePlay 2 #import "Game.h" #import "ScoreSystem.h" @interface Doctor : UIImageView { } @end @interface Ground : UIImageView { } @end @interface Wall : UIImageView { } @end @interface Electric_Wire : UIImageView { } @end @implementation Game /* // The designated initializer. Override if you create the controller programmatically and want to perform customization that is not appropriate for viewDidLoad. - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { if (self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]) { // Custom initialization } return self; } */ /* // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; } */ - (IBAction)pause { UIAlertView *pause = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Pause" message:nil delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Quit" otherButtonTitles:@"Play", nil]; [pause show]; [pause release]; pauseint = kPausedStatePaused; } - (void)viewDidAppear { pauseint = kPausedStatePlay; } - (void)loop { Doctor *doctorview; Ground *groundview; if (CGRectIntersectsRect(doctorview, groundview)) { } } - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if ([alertView.title isEqual:@"Pause"]) { if(buttonIndex == 0) [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; pauseint = kPausedStatePlay; } } // Override to allow orientations other than the default portrait orientation. - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { // Return YES for supported orientations return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight); } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Release any cached data, images, etc that aren't in use. } - (void)viewDidUnload { // Release any retained subviews of the main view. // e.g. self.myOutlet = nil; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end Unsurprisingly, Xcode gave me an "incompatible type for CGRectIntersectsRect" error.

  • (iOS) UI Automation AlertPrompt button/textField accessiblity

    - by lipd
    I'm having a bit of trouble with UI Automation (the built in to iOS tool) when it comes to alertView. First off, I'm not sure where I can set the accessibilityLabel and such for the buttons that are on the alertView. Secondly, although I am not getting an error, I can't get my textField to actually set the value of the textField to something. I'll put up my code for the alertView and the javaScript I am using for UI Automation. UIATarget.onAlert = function onAlert(alert) { // Log alerts and bail, unless it's the one we want var title = alert.name(); UIALogger.logMessage("Alert with title '" + title + "' encountered!"); alert.logElementTree(); if (title == "AlertPrompt") { UIALogger.logMessage(alert.textFields().length + ''); target.delay(1); alert.textFields()["AlertText"].setValue("AutoTest"); target.delay(1); return true; // Override default handler } else return false; } var target = UIATarget.localTarget(); var application = target.frontMostApp(); var mainWindow = application.mainWindow(); mainWindow.logElementTree(); //target.delay(1); //mainWindow.logElementTree(); //target.delay(1); var tableView = mainWindow.tableViews()[0]; var button = tableView.buttons(); //UIALogger.logMessage("Num buttons: " + button.length); //UIALogger.logMessage("num Table views: " + mainWindow.tableViews().length); //UIALogger.logMessage("Number of cells: " + tableView.cells().length); /*for (var currentCellIndex = 0; currentCellIndex < tableView.cells().length; currentCellIndex++) { var currentCell = tableView.cells()[currentCellIndex]; UIALogger.logStart("Testing table option: " + currentCell.name()); tableView.scrollToElementWithName(currentCell.name()); target.delay(1); currentCell.tap();// Go down a level target.delay(1); UIATarget.localTarget().captureScreenWithName(currentCell.name()); //mainWindow.navigationBar().leftButton().tap(); // Go back target.delay(1); UIALogger.logPass("Testing table option " + currentCell.name()); }*/ UIALogger.logStart("Testing add item"); target.delay(1); mainWindow.navigationBar().buttons()["addButton"].tap(); target.delay(1); if(tableView.cells().length == 5) UIALogger.logPass("Successfully added item to table"); else UIALogger.logFail("FAIL: didn't add item to table"); Here's what I'm using for the alertView #import "AlertPrompt.h" @implementation AlertPrompt @synthesize textField; @synthesize enteredText; - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title message:(NSString *)message delegate:(id)delegate cancelButtonTitle:(NSString *)cancelButtonTitle okButtonTitle:(NSString *)okayButtonTitle withOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation) orientation { if ((self == [super initWithTitle:title message:message delegate:delegate cancelButtonTitle:cancelButtonTitle otherButtonTitles:okayButtonTitle, nil])) { self.isAccessibilityElement = YES; self.accessibilityLabel = @"AlertPrompt"; UITextField *theTextField; if(orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait) theTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12.0, 45.0, 260.0, 25.0)]; else theTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12.0, 30.0, 260.0, 25.0)]; [theTextField setBackgroundColor:[UIColor whiteColor]]; [self addSubview:theTextField]; self.textField = theTextField; self.textField.isAccessibilityElement = YES; self.textField.accessibilityLabel = @"AlertText"; [theTextField release]; CGAffineTransform translate = CGAffineTransformMakeTranslation(0.0, 0.0); [self setTransform:translate]; } return self; } - (void)show { [textField becomeFirstResponder]; [super show]; } - (NSString *)enteredText { return [self.textField text]; } - (void)dealloc { //[textField release]; [super dealloc]; } @end Thanks for any help!

  • UIAlertView Dismiss Not Really Dismissed

    - by Jim Bonner
    Below is the code I'm using to do a retry on an FBConnect session. When the [self loginToFaceBook] fires FBConnect adds a subview to 'window' which is still the UIAlert view, so when the UIAlert really dismisses it takes the FBConnect view with it.
