• PASS Summit 2012 PreCon - DBA-298-P Automate and Manage SQL Server with PowerShell

• So long 2010 and Hello 2011

  This has been an interesting year, one in which I had some successes and some failures. It's the first year I really worked "for myself". In the past I've had some periods between jobs where I've done some contracting, but in November 2009 I struck out on my own (with a great business partner in Shawn Upchurch). • PASS Summit 2012 Day Two Keynote

  Summit day two is upon us and we're anticipating another exciting keynote. Nice video of international attendees at the start of the keynote focusing on the global community. Doug McDowell came out and talked about how much great content is going on simultaneously at the Summit. In the last five years PASS has incorporated SQL Saturdays, 24 Hours of PASS, SQL Rally, Virtual Chapters, and doubled and maybe even quadrupled the membership numbers.   Good morning! It's Day 2 of the PASS Summit 2013 and it should be a busy one. Douglas McDowell, EVP Finance of PASS opened up the keynote to welcome people and talked about the financial status of the organization. • Set and Verify the Retention Value for Change Data Capture

  Last summer I set up Change Data Capture for a client to track changes to their application database to apply those changes to their data warehouse. The client had some issues a short while back and felt they needed to increase the retention period from the default 3 days to 5 days. I ran this query to make that change: sp_cdc_change_job @job_type='cleanup', @retention=7200 The value 7200 represents the number of minutes in a period of 5 days.
