• Error while running RSpec test cases.

  Following is the error i receive while running test cases written using rpsec. The strange thing is the test were running fine until early yesterday. Can someone guide me towards a solution. I am new to RSpec and and using Rspec and rspec-rails as plugins in my app. and i have no clue to what went wrong.   I have a URL to a image which i want to save. I looked into ruby file handling and did not come across anything. Please guide me towards some links or blogs which talk about the same. I need to then use Paperclip to produce a thumbnail of this image to be used in my application.

• Rspec Selenium. Test to check certain Ajax functions passes when i expect it to fail.

  I am testing a Ajax action using Rspec and Selenium. My story is as follows: it "should create a new User with any input" do @browser.open "/people" @browser.wait_for_page_to_load "2000" @browser.type "user_name", "Alok Swain" @browser.click "user_submit" @browser.text?("Alok Swain").should be_true end The action i am testing is: def add_user @users = User.all User.create(params[:user]) render :update do |page| page.alert "Created User" page.replace_html "users", :partial => '/people/users_list', :locals => {:users => @users} end end The test fails and the error I get is: 'User should create a new User with any input' FAILED expected false to be true. This test should pass right ? I also kept an alert and tried @browser.is_alert_present.should be_true but i got the same error. I tried @browser.is_text_present("test") and this test succeeded. In the test database a record was created for Alok Swain but when I tried the above assertion it passed when i expected it to fail. Is there any thing else to be done here. What am I missing ?

  I am learning how to write test cases using Rspec. I have a simple Post Comments Scaffold where a Post can have many Comments. I am testing this using Rspec. How should i go about checking for Post :has_many :comments. Should I stub Post.comments method and then check this with by returning a mock object of array of comment objects? Is testing for AR associations really required ?

• How to use becomes in Rails.

  I have a Post Class and a Comment Class. I have a post object and want to convert it to a Comment object. I went through Rails api and found becomes(klass).For now there is not association between a Post and Comment. So i tried @post.becomes(Comment). but becomes method could not be found for @post object. Am i missing something ?

  I have a collection of links which are being displayed on the index page. Whenever a user clicks a link I want to keep a track of the number of unique views. I know it can be done by tracking the ips whenever a click happens by request.remote_ip and then the link of the page that was clicked. Is there any better approach ? Any plugins etc.
