  I have installed Centos 6 to Virtualbox. Although I have chosen to install General Purpose Gnome Desktop, Gnome desktop does not start. All I get is a black and white text prompt. I would like to know how I can install Gnome Desktop from Centos dvd iso image? How do I mount the dvd image to virtual machine linux? How do I install Gnome desktop from command line? If I already have Gnome Desktop installed, why doesn't it start? How can I check from command line that I have Gnome installled? This virtual machine does not have internet connection, that's why I want to install the Gnome Desktop from dvd. Best Regards

  I have a file containing a text: PADLST20120907:D:05B:UN:IBTA+TK4 17 JFL01+01'BGM+250+C'RFF+TN:TK4 I want to find this file in Linux, using these two strings: "JFL" and "20120907". As you see above, the file contains both "JFL" and "20120907". What should I write in command line? Stirngs may or may not be in the same line. I want to see file names with full path in the output. I don't want to see error messages or permission denied warnings. I want to search recursively in the directory I am standing in or I would like to specifiy a path. regards

  I want to write a function which will return after 5 seconds no matter what: def myfunction(): while passed_time < 5_seconds: do1() do2() do3() . . return I mean, this function run for 5 seconds only, after 5 seconds, it should end, and continue with other function: myfunction() otherfunction() ----> This should start 5 seconds after myfunction() is executed.
