  Take a deep breath before you read further, I am sure some of us are waiting for Gingerbread update in our mobile phones and most of us still are waiting even to get Froyo. Before we blink our eyes, you will be seeing the latest version of Android OS out soon, Android 2.4 aka Icecream. Its expected to be out in this June/July, so for sure we would get a spoon full on Google I/O comming this May. Stay Tuned……… Guess its better now a days to buy a “Pure-Android” phone. • How Do i configure sip2sip, sipdroid, pbxes, and google voice on my andriod g1

  I've been trying to configure the above for two days i used ipkall at first and it registered with my sipdroid app because i got a green status light and whenever i make a call from sipdroid it will show it in the pbxes call log but the call drops asap..i downloaded sip2sip to get another number ive gotten the new number from sip2sip now i need to configure sip2sip with sipdroid and google voice...can someone please help me my e-mail is [email protected]

  Hi I want to an andriod application(a port from a windows mobile phone) but I need to learn a couple things How to program for different screen sizes and resolutions (so my controls get bigger smaller or whatever) How to dynamically create controls such labels and checkboxes ( and checkbox listeners) How to create a menu How to create a context menu( a menu when you right click on the screen it pops up) how to program for landscape and portrait mode How to consume a webservice Most of what I am after is mostly the display aspect as all my logic is on a webservice so I could port all my stuff to different phones faster. So I am looking for tutorials or a book to get me up to speed to do these things

• andriod emulator application deployment error.

  Hi Fellows, I have developed an application in Rhodes framework and deployed the application in an android emulator. When i try to access the application i get the following error, SD card error,Application cant access the SD card while its mounted.Please unmount the device and stop the adb server before launching the application. i have tried to unmount the SD card in the emulator but i am unable to do that. • Andriod Spinner not displaying list items.

  I think I am going crazy right now. I am trying to create a spinner populated by a datatable but for some reason the dropdown list items text is not being displayed. I have looked all over and have seen other posts with people having this same problem. If I select any of them I am getting the correct selected item value but there is just no data displayed.

• Android app after update: crashes on Motorola Cliq with weird stacktrace

  So after updating my app on the market I am getting reports from motorola cliq-users that my app crashes on start. The stacktrace is below, and is not very helpful since it does not go trough my app! Now I would actually like to add you know some controls to these tabs like textboxes(text edit). How do I do this? • Turn Bluetooth On and Off in Andriod 1.5 (SDK level 3)?

  There are tons of pay and free bluetooth toggles on the market that work with Android 1.5 (SDK level 3). The problem is there is no visible API for this! Does anyone have any working code snippits on how to enable and disable bluetooth that works on Android 1.5? I assume you must have to use some kind of reflection for it. There are some examples over on anddev.org, but they only work with Android 1.1 or lower. This is for Android 1.5 (SDK level 3) and not Android 2.0 or greater. In Android 2.0 or later Google added easy to use APIs.

  Since both iPhone and Android support OpenGL ES, is there any open source or commercial GUI library we can use for these two platforms? Or is it doable (or how difficult) to port an application from one to another platform? As I know, for iPhone only, libNUI (http://www.libnui.net) is a good choice (dynamic layout & mature), but it only provides GPL & commercial license. Any other open source tool similar with libNUI?

  Hi All, Aplogies for the ignorant question, I have no experience with app development on any mobile platform. Basically what I want to know is what communication protocols do apps typically use for accessing/querying centralised services? E.g if I port a webapp/service to iPhone/Andriod, typically how would I access/query this web service in my app? E.g is it over HTTP, or are there other protocols? Also, presumably the GUI of an app is constructed with Apple/Andriod GUI libraries (in java? cocoa?). Can an app GUI be defined with HTML/javascript like a webpage? • Can't sync music on Nexus 4 with rhythmbox

  My LG Nexus 4 phone running Andriod 4.4.3 will not sync music with rhythmbox, banshee, or clementine with my laptop running Ubuntu 14.04. When attached via USB2 or USB3 I can mount the file system on the phone without issue and can manually transfer files but attempting to sync my nexus with any of the three music players I listed causes them to crash. I realize it is probably some mtp issue. But I cannot figure out why the music players cannot connect to my nexus and nautilus has no problem doing so.

• Why Android for enterprise applications?

  Recently one of our clients is considering the posibility of picking up an old WinMobile 5.0 project. Several features are to be added to the point it will be a major version update. The client is worried about the mobile market, and thinks there's a chance all the effort put in this development will have to be thrown away in a couple of year due to the dinamics of the mobile market and the deprecation of mobile devices. So, the client is not sure whether he should continue with Windows Mobile (changing from WM 5.0 to 6.X) or starting from scratch with another technology. From our part we have been studing the mobile market, looking for clues for which will be the winning horse. The safe move seems to continue with WM just because re writing an entire application from scratch involves more risks and delays. On the other hand WM seems to be losing market and the ghost of an exit on their part is growing stronger everyday. But what can be say about Android? Everyone is talking about it and is growing at full speed but what avantagies will it bring to the table? Why should we start a fresh applicaction on this technology? So the question remains the same.. is Andriod mature enough for an enterprise application? Will you recomend it to one of your clients? Will you port/rewrite a WM application to Andriod? What's the trade-off? EDIT: Addressing commentaries. The app is entirely built with C# and Compact Framework. The app is for logistics/management.

• Another ubuntu one music problem with ID3-Tags ("unknown artist" problem)

  I started using ubuntu one a few days ago. I put some MP3s into the cloud music folder and I can play them just fine in the music web and andriod applications. The problem is that all files are sorted under "unknown artist" and "unknown album" and the title is either the file name or a part of it (which is from the service "guessing the title" I guess). It seems the problem happened before. I looked in the FAQ, which said this happens with m4a files, but I use mp3 files. The ID3 tags are correct and are tagged with ID3v1 and ID3v2. I read to wait, until the service can catch up with the tagging, so I waited 24 hours, still nothing. Every single file is still listed under unknown artist/unknown album. I'm running out of options here :/

  The problem: I am taking an existing, 5 year old, html based MMORTS game and "HTML5-ing" it, "AJAX-ing" it and most importantly, optimizing for mobile devices like iPhone, android etc. For these devices, the application will be packaged as a downloadable app that is a wrapper for a browser which actually shows the game.. The Question Looking for a good book, or books, or in-depth articles that would help me learn: what tools I have in iOS, andriod applications for optimizing an html based game. things like caching of images, etc what kind of connectivity, or interactivity I can expect between the html/javascript pages and the wrapper - can I play sounds in the wrapper by triggering them from javascript? etc tip and tricks to optimize html/html5 & Javascript application to run well on mobile devices ETC :) Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!
