  • Problems with Software Sources -- I tried to add a Repository and it failed. How do I fix it?

    As in the title. I tried to add a Repository, how do I remove it. It won't let me via the software-sources program. I tried sudo ppa-purge ppa:quantal (the name of it) and it failed anyone got any ideas?   • How do you Install the Latest Release of Miro?

    In the software centre the latest release of Miro available is 4.0.4 whereas the latest release of Miro is 5.0.4. How do I download 5.0.4 on 12.10? I have tried following the guide at http://www.getmiro.com/download/for-ubuntu/ (and thus have already run sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pcf/miro-releases) but it failed and when I tried to run sudo apt-get update I received the error: W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/pcf/miro-releases/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/source/Sources 404 Not Found W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/pcf/miro-releases/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

  • What's the best Bittorrent client for 12.10 excluding utorrent?

    The reason why I've excluded utorrent is because utorrent server doesn't appear to work for me with the details of such difficulties available in the question How do I install uTorrent?. Running through wine is an annoying solution to the problem as whenever I run it that way I have to manually relocate torrent-ed files as they are undiscoverable in the location utorrent saves it by default. I'd appreciate a decently-sized compare and contrast answer.

  • Orthographic unit translation mismatch on grid (e.g. 64 pixels translates incorrectly)

    I am looking for some insight into a small problem with unit translations on a grid. Setup 512x448 window 64x64 grid gl_Position = projection * world * position; projection is defined by ortho(-w/2.0f, w/2.0f, -h/2.0f, h/2.0f); This is a textbook orthogonal projection function. world is defined by a fixed camera position at (0, 0) position is defined by the sprite's position. Problem In the screenshot below (1:1 scaling) the grid spacing is 64x64 and I am drawing the unit at (64, 64), however the unit draws roughly ~10px in the wrong position. I've tried uniform window dimensions to prevent any distortion on the pixel size, but now I am a bit lost in the proper way in providing a 1:1 pixel-to-world-unit projection. Anyhow, here are some quick images to aide in the problem. I decided to super-impose a bunch of the sprites at what the engine believes is 64x offsets. When this seemed off place, I went about and did the base case of 1 unit. Which seemed to line up as expected. The yellow shows a 1px difference in the movement. Vertices It would appear that the vertices going into the vertex shader are correct. For example, in reference to the first image the data looks like this in the VBO: x y x y ---------------------------- tl | 0.0 24.0 64.0 24.0 bl | 0.0 0.0 -> 64.0 0.0 tr | 16.0 0.0 80.0 0.0 br | 16.0 24.0 80.0 24.0 With that said, all I am left to believe is that I am munging up my actual projection. So, I am looking for any insight into maintaining the 1:1 pixel-to-world-unit projection.

  • How Can Someone With Minimum Programming Experience Publish an App of an Existing Program not found in the Software Centre?

    There's a free mathematics software that I would like to see in Ubuntu Software Centre, called, 'Sage.' I have minimal experience in programming, so I'm basically here asking if someone could either tell me how to accomplish this without said instructions being completely over my head or if someone could do it for me. For further information here's the sage homepage: http://sagemath.org/ and the .tar.lzma file for its installation is ~500MB and it takes around 2.2 GB on the HDD when installed, I found at least on 32 bit i386 Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  • How do I update the IcedTea Plugin on 12.10?

    Whenever I open up the page http://www.runescape.com/game.ws? in google chrome I get the notice, "IcedTea was blocked because it is out of date" and gives me the two options of updating it or running this time. I've gone to the link attached to the option of updating it and its a wikipedia page http://icedtea.classpath.org/wiki/Main_Page that wasn't helpful for me because I didn't know what to download and install. Whenever I click, 'Run this time' it works momentarily but it is prone to have the runescape interface in the browser disappear and be replaced with a black screen.

  • What freely available software is equipped for editing PDF Bookmarks?

    I know of PDFMod, which I rather like except it has one flaw, I can't seem to be able to add bookmarks before pre-existing bookmarks (see the attached image if this is unclear). I've looked at this question: - Which programs can I use to edit PDF files? That question does not deal specifically with bookmark editing, neither does it specify which software is freely available and which isn't. I should add that I'm incompetent when it comes to installing software so any software that's not available in the Software Centre requires you to detail exactly how I'm meant to install it. Plus, I would specifically like a software that can handle large (like 80 MB) PDF files without lagging like crazy or closing down.

  • wmpnetwork.exe service clogs CPU usage

    We have remote locations each with 2 ASUS media extenders that stream from a computer with a shared Media Player library. Lately, several of these locations experience the "wmpnetwork.exe" service throttling the CPU to 100% usage. Killing the service only results in it starting back up, and so far the only temporary solution is to uninstall Media Player. A lot of these computers are also about 3-5 years old. Could it just be a case of outdated hardware not being able to do everything we ask them to do? Edit: all running Windows XP and Windows Media Player 11

  • Concatenate 2 text elements on a line with full-width border using CSS only

    Okay, I'm a newbie to CSS3, so please be gentle. ;-) I'm working with some Wordpress code (Woocommerce plugin, to be exact), and I'm trying to format a line of code in a sidebar so that 2 separate text items (one in an <a, the other in a <span are all on the same line, the full width of the column, and with a bottom border. It looks something like this (except the bottom border on each text do not go all the way across the enclosing sidebar box): http://www.dalluva.com/temp/browse-catalog.JPG (sorry, I'm new and can't post inline images yet) Here's the code fragment I'm trying to live with (i.e. I don't want to change it): <div class="widget"> ... <ul class="product-categories"> <li class="cat-item"> <a href="http://localhost/dalluva/shop/product-category/books/">Books</a> <span class="count">(5)</span> </li> ... And here's the CSS I have now: .widget ul li a { border-bottom: 1px solid #e9e9e9; line-height:1.0; padding: 5px 0 5px 22px; display: inline-block; } .widget ul li span { border-bottom: 1px solid #e9e9e9; line-height: 1.0; padding: 5px 0 5px 0; display: inline-block; } The output in the image above looks right for this CSS code, but when I change the 'span' CSS to include a width:100%, it causes the span element to wrap to the next line, looking like this: http://www.dalluva.com/temp/browse-catalog-2.JPG I've played with white-space:nowrap, overflow:hidden, etc, but I can't seem to find a way to have both the <a and the <span text on the same line with the border extending the full width of the column.   • Node.js appears to be missing the multipart module

    I am trying to parse form data, including upload files with a node.js http server. All of the tutorial type articles I have found use a require("multipart"); to include the multipart module, but when I try the same I get: Error: Cannot find module 'multipart' I also can't find it in the current api docs (though it is in the google cached version). So, has this module been removed from the standard installation or is there something else that does the job?

  • How do I revert from FRF50 back to ERE27?

    I got all excited with the leaked froyo update.zip that hit the net a few days ago, and installed it on my phone. Since then I've had many issues, the big one being ADB not discovering my phone. I'd like to revert my phone back, but can't find a signed update.zip on the nets that will do it. Does anyone know how I can revert my N1 from FRF50, back to ERE27? My phone is not rooted.

  • Is POSTing a Dictionary to an .NET MVC action possible?

    I have a form which contains a series of fields like: <input type="text" name="User[123]" value="Alice" /> <input type="text" name="User[456]" value="Bob" /> ... Where the index of the User array (123 and 456) are ID's associated with the value. I'm trying to update these values in the controller. My thinking is that a Dictionary that maps ID to name would work, but creating the action like: public void Save(Dictionary<string, string> user) { // ... } results in the user parameter being null. So, is passing a Dictionary possible? or, is there another method to achieve this?
