  • Intermittent fillMode=kCAFillModeForwards bug using CAKeyframeAnimation with path

    I'm having an intermittent problem when I move a UIImageView around the screen using CAKeyframeAnimation. I want the position of the UIImageView to remain where the animation ends when it is done. This bug only happens for certain start and end points. When I use random points it works correctly most of the time, but about 5-15% of the time it fails and snaps back to the pre-animation position. The problem only appears when using CAKeyframeAnimation using the path property. If I use the values property the bug does not appear. I am setting removedOnCompletion = NO, and fillMode = kCAFillModeForwards. I have posted a link to a test Xcode below. Here is my code for setting up the animation. I have a property usePath. When this is YES, the bug appears. When I set usePath to NO, the snap back bug does not happen. I have hard coded a start and end point which causes the bug to happen every time. Use the switch to change usePath to YES or NO. When usePath is YES, you will see the snap back bug. When usePath is NO, you will not see the snap back bug. I'm using SDK 3.1.3, but I have seen this bug using SDK 3.0 as well, and I have seen the bug on the Sim and on my iPhone.   • How to specify selector when CAKeyframeAnimation is finished?

    I'm using a CAKeyframeAnimation to animate a view along a CGPath. When the animation is done, I'd like to be able to call some other method to perform another action. Is there a good way to do this? I've looked at using UIView's setAnimationDidStopSelector:, however from the docs this looks like it only applies when used within a UIView animation block (beginAnimations and commitAnimations). I also gave it a try just in case, but it doesn't seem to work.     I have a a menu that is a CALayer that will slide across the screen to a given point. I want the effect where the menu will go a little past the point, then a little before the point, and then land on the point. I can move the menu by applying a transform, but I was hoping to get this bouncing effect to work. I was looking into CAKeyframeAnimation, but I'm having trouble locating an example/tutorial. Any links or help would be great. Thanks.

  • UIScrollView content to track a CAKeyFrameAnimation along a path

    In my App I have a full-screen UIScrollView where the content is a UIImageView containing a map image which is about 2000px square (i.e. larger than the UIScrollView). Currently, I plot a path across the map and animate a "beacon" image along it using a CAKeyFrameAnimation, which works great. What I would like to be able to do is to make the UIScrollView content move with the animation in such a way as to keep the beacon image in the centre of the screen (giving the user the impression of tracking along the path). Any suggestions on how I might achieve this?

  • Rotate a CALayer when it reaches a certain position

    I've got a CALayer with two CAKeyframeAnimations added to it. One is for @"transform" and the other is for @"position". I am rotating the layer and translating it with these two animations. I am wondering, is there a way I can set the keyframes to happen at the same time? I want to have a keyframe for rotation at the exact time my layer has reached a certain (x, y) position. How is this possible?

  • How do i rotate a CALayer around a diagonal line?

    Hi. I'm trying to implement a flip animation to be used in board game like iPhone-application. The animation is supposed to look like a game piece that rotates and changes to the color of its back (kind of like an Reversi piece). I've managed to create an animation that flips the piece around its orthogonal axis, but when I try to flip it around a diagonal axis by changing the rotation around the z-axis the actual image also gets rotated (not surprisingly). Instead I would like to rotate the image "as is" around a diagonal axis. I have tried to change layer.sublayerTransform but with no success. Here is my current implementation. It works by doing a trick to resolve the issue of getting a mirrored image at the end of the animation.   • Issue with CAAnimation and CALayer Transforms

    I have a CALayer that I want to animate across the screen. I have created two methods: one slide open the layer and one to slide close. These both work by assigning a property to the layer's transform property. Now I want to use a CAKeyFrameAnimation to slide open the layer. I got this working so the layer slides open, but now I can't slide the layer close using my old method. I am trying to figure out why this is. Any help would be great.     I'm not sure if I am approaching this the correct way. In my app, when a user touches the screen I capture the point and create an arc from a fixed point to that touch point. I then want to move a UIView along that arc.   • iphone - why is this flip animation using layers not working?

    I would like to make an animation that goes like this: imagine a picture sitting on a shelve. It drops from the shelve and as it falls it rotates along the horizontal axis and translates along the vertical axis. I would like to do this with perspective and the back side should be the image reversed, like the picture is a kind of slide.     Hi All; My app is based around a grid and an image that moves within a grid that is contained within a scrollview. I have an imageview that I am animating from one cell to another in time with a slow finger movement and recentering the scrollview. That is rather straight forward. I have also implement the ability to detect a swipe and therefore move the image all the way to the end of the grid and the uiscrollview recentering. I have even implemented the ability to detect a subsequent tap and freeze the swiped movement. The issue with the swipe movement is that the UIScrollView will scroll all the way to the end before the Image reaches the end and so I have to wait for the image to arrive. Also, when I freeze the movement of the image, I have to re-align the image to a cell (which I can do). I have come to the realization that I have to animate the image one cell at a time for swipes and recentering the uiscrollview before moving the image to the next cell. I have attempted to implement this but I cannot come up with a solution that works or works properly. Can anyone suggest how I go about implementing this? Even if you are able to put up code from a different example or sudo code, it would help a lot as I cannot workout how this should be done, should I be using selectors, a listener in delegates, I just simply lack the experience to solve this design pattern.
