  Heres the deal: I am by no means a Linux expert, even less when it comes to the Android OS but lets see if we can't solve this problem. The problem I am having is that on the Cliq we have a broadcom chip. In order to use the wireless card you must first insert the module into the kernel. Do I need to specify the firmware with insmod? Why are we trying to control the interface manually instead of through the Android API? The Android API doesn't support ad-hoc connections as far as I can tell. The card, I am sure, most certainly can.

• Android app after update: crashes on Motorola Cliq with weird stacktrace

  So after updating my app on the market I am getting reports from motorola cliq-users that my app crashes on start. The stacktrace is below, and is not very helpful since it does not go trough my app! Unfortunately I have no access to a motorola cliq-phone by myself, and I have changed too many things in this update to know what is causing the trouble.   The network interfaces on Android interfaces are listed as directories in the file system in /sys/class/net/. For most Android devices the network interface for gprs traffic is called rmnet0 and for Wi-Fi it's usually eth0 or tiwlan0. I suspect that the cell interface for the Motorola CLIQ is rmnet0, but I would like to have this confirmed + know the name of the Wi-Fi interface. Also it would be good to know the device id for this model. This is the value available as android.os.Build.DEVICE in the Java SDK. (E.g. T-Mobile G1 uses dream, Samsung Galaxy uses GT-I7500, and Motorolda Droid uses sholes.)

• android phone's scroll ball, D-Pad not working

  hi, i have a Cliq and a MyTouch phone. i am writing a game that requires a fire button. on the cliq, it's the center of the D-Pad, and on the MyTouch, the scroll ball. i am handling the onKeyDown events via a separate thread. it all works until i press the button too many times, meaning the key down event is no longer fired off. if i press the D-Pad down or scroll the ball down, then the fire button works again. i can only guess that maybe the message queue within the OS is full, therefore the fire button temporarily malfuntions. can someone help me? thanks.

• Adding a button bar at the bottom of ListView upon checkbox select (as in gmail app)??

  I have a ListView with custom adapter. In each row there is a checkbox and couple of textviews. I want user to give option to delete the check marked items, so as soon as soon clicks on one of the checkbox, I want a button bar to slide in from the bottom and stay at the bottom regardless of listview scroll. This is something like the email app behavior of Motorola Cliq and to some extent gmail app itself. I have tried adding a relativelayout (containing buttons) below the listview, which has visibility set to gone initially, but as soon as user checks a button, the visibility changes to "visible". I have added a slide-in animation to it too. It is working but problem is that it is overlapping the last element of the listview which user can not checkmark if the button bar has already become visible. So I tried to set the bottom margin of the listview equal to the height of the button bar when I'm changing the button bar visibility, which solves the problem of overlap, but now the checkbox behavior has gone weird. Clicking on one checkmark tries to checkmark another checkmark in the list for some weird reason. I noticed that this happens because as soon as I change the listview margin, list redraws itself, and during this new call to getView() method of adapter, things mess up. I wanted to ask if anyone has done something like this. What is the best method to add such button bar below list while keeping the slide-in animation intact. Also, What is the footer-view of listview and can that solve my problem?

• Listview Row Overlap Problem

  I just updated my app and I am getting some odd complaints from people who update it. I am only getting complaints from people with non-stock android phones (phones that manufacturers have modified...HTC phones, cliq, pulse, etc), other phones like the Droid, Nexus work fine. My app (Photo Frame Deluxe) has a list in it with a Image View, Text View, View (spacer) and checkbox, all in a row. What happens on the affected phones is that the rows start overlapping and it cuts the top half of everything off. My layout code for this is below, I am pulling my hair out on this, what might I have wrong in this layout. Why does this work on some phones and not on others? Any help would be appreciated.
