• Clock drift even though NTPD running

  I'm having a problem with the clock drifting on my PC. I'M running Ubuntu 10.10 on an somewhat crusty IBM e-server (1.5GB RAM, 2.4GHz CPU) ntpd is running (started at run level 2) servers are defined: server 1.us.pool.ntp.org server 2.us.pool.ntp.org server 3.us.pool.ntp.org server time.nrc.ca server ntp1.cmc.ec.gc.ca server ntp2.cmc.ec.gc.ca server wuarchive.wustl.edu server clock.psu.edu Looking at the log file, it would seem that the ntp daemon is running, but the system clock never seems to be set, however. If I manually set the time from a Casio "atomic" watch, the date/time displayed by the Clock applet drifts out of sync over time. Looking at the log file (below) it would seem the ntp daemon started ok and is running. So I am totally flummoxed right now :-( Here's a copy of my ntp.log file.

• Database backup regardless of backup made through a control panel?

  I know that all CMS or CMC platforms have some sort of walkthrough for their users to fully backup and restore the database or the whole website. While we all can perform such backups (and there are even plugins which automate the whole procedure) and restore them in necessity (such as when we migrate to a new server), one can also backup the whole website by means of such control panels as Directadmin or Cpanel. Now, I just want to know if it is necessary for us to do database or website backups the way they are described by a specific CMC or CMS developer even after we perform a whole website backup in a control panel such as DA? An example of such CMS platforms is moodle. Moodle Docs describes how we can backup and restore moodle in here. So do we, out of necessity, have to make the backup the way described, or we can simply do it the Control panel way? Thanks

• Cookies with urllib

  This will probably seem like a really simple question, and I am quite confused as to why this is so difficult for me. I would like to write a function that takes three inputs: [url, data, cookies] that will use urllib (not urllib2) to get the contents of the requested url. I figured it'd be simple, so I wrote the following: def fetch(url, data = None, cookies = None): if isinstance(data, dict): data = urllib.urlencode(data) if isinstance(cookies, dict): # TODO: find a better way to do this cookies = "; ".join([str(key) + "=" + str(cookies[key]) for key in cookies]) opener = urllib.FancyURLopener() opener.addheader("Cookie", cookies) obj = opener.open(url, data) result = obj.read() obj.close() return result This doesn't work, as far as I can tell (can anyone confirm that?) and I'm stumped.

• PHP convert external relative path to absolute path

  Hello, I am trying to figure out how to convert an "external relative path" to an absolute one: I'd really like a function that will do the following: $path = "/search?q=query"; $host = "http://google.com"; $abspath = reltoabs($host, $path); And have $abspath equal to "http://google.com/search?q=query" The problem is that it is not guaranteed to be in that format, and it could already be absolute, or be pointing to a different host entirely, and I'm not quite sure how to approach this.   I'm trying to import a module, while passing some global variables, but it does not seem to work: File test_1: test_2 = __import__("test_2", {"testvar": 1}) File test_2: print testvar This seems like it should work, and print a 1, but I get the following error when I run test_1: Traceback (most recent call last): File ".../test_1.py", line 1, in <module> print testvar NameError: name 'testvar' is not defined What am I doing wrong?

• Problem changin database location

  I have a report developed with Crystal '08 and it is published on CMC. My problem is when I changed the database to the production db, the report still asking for the development database password. I've tried to publish the report with a diferent name, but it didn't work. Thanks for your help!

• Crystal Reports Server - Database Login Needs to go Away

  The environment I'm working in is a Crystal Reports Server 2008 talking to a MySQL Server 5.1 database using JDBC. The problem is that I get a database logon screen every time I try to access a report from Crystal Reports Server. I've setup a JDBC connection using the MySQL Connector/J driver. When I create a .rpt file I provide the login credentails all is fine. I then publish to InfoView and go to access the report and it prompts me for username and password to the database. I then went to CMC and right-clicked on the report and opened the Database Configuration. I've selected 'Use original database logon information from the report' and 'Use same database logon as when report is run'. However, I still get the logon screen when I try to access the report.

• WatiN downloading a file from webpage

  I have the following code which does a couple of webpage redirections and then clicks an tag which has a javascript fuction as the href. When it is called a file is download. My problem is I want to be able to download the file without being prompted to cancel, save or open. • Error while dynamically loading mapi32.dll

  Our application uses Simple MAPI to send e-mails. One of our clients has problems sending e-mail from a session on his terminal server. The mapi32.dll is loaded with a call to LoadLibrary which succeeds, but then our application tries to get the addresses of the functions MAPILogon, MAPILogOff, MAPISendMail, MAPIFreeBuffer and MAPIResolveName. The problem is that GetProcAddress fails for those functions with an ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED (code: 5) except for MAPIFreeBuffer. It looks like some sort of security thing. How can I fix this or should I use another method to send mail? • visusal studio embedded crystal report keeps prompting database login?

  I'm using visual studio 2005 to develop a form with a combobox passing a value into the parameter of an embedded crystal report. I'm trying to figure out why it keeps prompting me for a database login every single time you try to run the report with a different combobox selection. Here is my code: private Sub Form1_load...   Hey! So I'm trying to code something on wordpress for the first time but the validator doesn't seem to like me.
