  • CompareValidator issue on Firefox

    Hi, I need to validate a date in a web forms application. For this I use a CompareValidator with Operator="DataTypeCheck" Type="Date" The problem is that this Validator doesn't work properly on Firefox with 2 digit years. ( javascript error: m[2] is undefined) With a 4 digits year it's working properly. This problem is described also here: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/355573/comparevalidator-client-side-bug-two-digit-year-in-mozilla-based-browsers-throws-js-exception Does anyone know a nice workaround for this?   • CompareValidator works in listview's editItemTemplate but not in insertitemtemplate

ValidationGroup="myValidationGroup" /> It works great ! so I do exactly the same operation in the InserItemTemplate (It's a copy/paste) but this time, it doesn't work, I have no error message in my validationsummary and near my control to validate!     If I want to validate that a text box contains an integer greater than or equal to zero. Do I need to use TWO asp:CompareValidator controls: one with a DataTypeCheck operator and one with a GreaterThanEqual operator? Or is the datatype operator redundant? Can I just use a single validator with the GreaterThanEqual operator (and the type set to Integer)?

    Compare two input dates to avoid invalid dates. In this example I have created two textboxes and namded as "TextBoxSeminarDate" and "TextBoxBookingDeadline". Booking deadline date must be before date to the Seminar date. Therefore I used Operator as "LesThanEqual". I have validated "TextBoxBookingDeadline" value comparing with the "TextBoxSeminarDate" value as follow.   <asp:CompareValidator ID="CompareValidatorBookingDeadline" runat="server" ControlToCompare="TextBoxSeminarDate" ControlToValidate="TextBoxBookingDeadline" Display="Dynamic" ErrorMessage="Please check the seminar date and select appropriate date for booking deadline" Operator="LessThanEqual" Type="Date"  ValueToCompare="<%= TextBoxSeminarDate.Text.ToShortString() %>">*</asp:CompareValidator> The important thing is "ValueToCompare" property of the compare validator.     I have created the TextBox and CompareValidator below which I thought would allow input in the following forms: 5 5.00 $5.00 Unfortunately it's not allowing the version with the dollar sign in it. What is the point of doing a type check against currency if you don't allow the dollar sign?     Hi, I've customised the asp.net login control and it seems to create new accounts fine, but if I duplicate the user id thats already registered or enter an email thats already used, the error messages arn't displaying. Its driving me crazy. The page just refreshes without showing an error.   • Jquery datepicker popup not closing on select date in IE8

    I've got a web form with a start date field. I've tied a jquery datepicker to the txt field. Now when I choose a date in FF, the selected date is populated in the text box and the calendar popup closes. However when I do the same thing in IE8, the selected date is populated in the text box but the popup remains open. I've also noticed that a script error is generated as soon as I select a date in the popup calendar. I'm using jquery 1.3.2, jquery-ui 1.7.2, and .NET 3.5. Thus the length is null or not an object error. Now I'm not sure if the datepicker popup not closing in IE and the script error in the WebResources.axd file are related errors, but I'm leaning that way. Can anyone tell me why the popup isn't closing?

    I am trying to restrict a user from entering a new record if the date requested already exits. I was trying to do a count to see if the table that the record would be placed in already has that date 1 or not 0. I have a calendar extender attached to a text box which has the date. I keep getting either a: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime. or Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox' to type 'System.IConvertible'. depending on the different things I have tried. Here is my code.   • asp.net rangevalidator for calendar extender entries gives problems in safari

    Hi there, I have the following scenario: arrival and departure dates have to be selected on a form, through 2 textboxes with a calendar extender each. I validate the entries to check that no date before today is selected and to check that the departure is after the arrival. I used a rangevalidator and a comparevalidator. In IE, Firefox and Opera it is working fine, in Safari (on windows) however both the validators go off even on entries that should be accepted. It makes me suspect that the date format dd/MM/yyyy causes trouble for Safari. (the dd/MMMM/yyyy also gave the same troubles in the other browsers, probably due to the dependency on UIculture) The code is:   The range validator gets its values in code behind on Page_load RangeValidator1.MinimumValue = DateTime.Now.AddDays(1).ToShortDateString(); RangeValidator1.MaximumValue = DateTime.Now.AddMonths(12).ToShortDateString(); Does anybody have any suggestions on how to solve this problem with safari? best regards, Robin

    Hi all, I have an UpdatePanel that has user controls dynamically added to it. There can be a few dozen user controls at times. The page / UpdatePanel slows down big time on each postback as more user controls are added. After some digging, I was surprised to find the cause is the various CompareValidator, CustomValidator, RegularExpressionValidator and RequiredFieldValidator controls that exist on each user control. Dose anyone have suggestions? It strikes me as very peculiar that inclusion of these ASP.NET controls could have such a horrible effect on performance. Thanks, Calvin

I'm using the following code to remove dollar signs and validate the content: jQuery: $("#<%= tb.ClientID %>").change(function() { var ctrl = $("#<%= tb.ClientID %>"); ctrl.val(ctrl.val().replace('$','')) }); asp.net validation: <asp:CompareValidator ID="CompareValidator4" runat="server" Type="Double" ControlToValidate="tb" Operator="DataTypeCheck" ValidationGroup="vld_Page" ErrorMessage="Some error" /> My problem is that when someone enters a dollar sign in the TextBox "tb" and changes focus the validation happens first and THEN the jQuery removes the dollar sign. Is it possible to have the jQuery run first or to force the validation to run again after the jQuery executes?
