• Accessing PCI Device from user space programs

  I have a device which would be interface with my processor through pcie. I have written driver for it using the existing pci file operations. Now my problem is how do I access it from user space programs? PCI File operations do not have IOCTL support and hence I cant make an ioctl call unlike other char devices. I cannot use pci_config_read_byte etc. functions as they are meant for kernel space(included in linux/pci.h).

  For Remote Desktop Sessions in Linux, I want to know if there something available equivalent for what Team Viewer does for windows? The main advantage I find of Team viewer is that it can bypass firewalls, needs no NAT configurations or port forwarding rules to be setup in the router.

• Memory Regions displayed in SMAPS output with no permissions

  If I see the output of cat /proc//smaps, I find that there are some memory regions with which no read/write/execute permissions have been associated. Also these region are mapped to inode number 0. I wanted to know how does a region end up in such a state? Is it some sort of memory leak? Can these regions be ever used again by the process?
