  • Cucumber error under bundler

    - by Senthil
    I've confirmed cucumber tests work fine without bundler, but with bundler it breaks. This is the error I get: You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil.each (NoMethodError) /home/senthil/rails/othersprograms/nmicho-teambox/vendor/plugins/cucumber/lib/cucumber/formatter/console.rb:148:in `record_tag_occurrences' /home/senthil/rails/othersprograms/nmicho-teambox/vendor/plugins/cucumber/lib/cucumber/formatter/pretty.rb:71:in `before_feature_element' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:190:in `__send__' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:190:in `send_to_all' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:188:in `each' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:188:in `send_to_all' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:179:in `broadcast' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:50:in `visit_feature_element' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/feature.rb:26:in `accept' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/feature.rb:25:in `each' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/feature.rb:25:in `accept' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:20:in `visit_feature' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:180:in `broadcast' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:19:in `visit_feature' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/features.rb:29:in `accept' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/features.rb:17:in `each' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/features.rb:17:in `each' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/features.rb:28:in `accept' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:14:in `visit_features' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:180:in `broadcast' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/ast/tree_walker.rb:13:in `visit_features' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/cli/main.rb:61:in `execute!' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/../lib/cucumber/cli/main.rb:20:in `execute' /var/lib/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.1/bin/cucumber:8 /var/lib/gems/1.8/bin/cucumber:19:in `load' /var/lib/gems/1.8/bin/cucumber:19 I've searched all over Google and nothing. Oh btw the above tests is when I was trying to run cucumber tests in Teambox app. I've downloaded it fresh and it still breaks. But if I use their old versions where they didn't not have bundler installed, it works fine. Can anyone help? Thanks

  • Configure Cucumber with SentientUser

    - by Corith Malin
    I have an application using the SentientUser gem to provide the current user to my models. On top of that I'm using default scoping to ensure that a user can only ever access data that they own. So a typical model for me looks something like this: class Location < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :name, :time_zone, :address belongs_to :account belongs_to :address accepts_nested_attributes_for :address default_scope :conditions => { :account_id => User.current.account } end When I run rake cucumber I get an error on the default_scope line about account being nil. My guess is that when the cucumber rake task is run it doesn't have access to the correct application controller to inject the current_user method and thus SentientUser can't get the current user? The error I get is: rake cucumber (in /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse) /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/bin/ruby -I "/Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/lib:lib" "/Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/bin/cucumber" --profile default Using the default profile... undefined method `account' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError) /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/whiny_nil.rb:52:in `method_missing' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/app/models/location.rb:9 /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `gem_original_require' /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `polyglot_original_require' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/polyglot-0.3.0/lib/polyglot.rb:65:in `require' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:158:in `require' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:265:in `require_or_load' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:224:in `depend_on' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:136:in `require_dependency' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/config/../vendor/rails/railties/lib/initializer.rb:414:in `load_application_classes' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/config/../vendor/rails/railties/lib/initializer.rb:413:in `each' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/config/../vendor/rails/railties/lib/initializer.rb:413:in `load_application_classes' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/config/../vendor/rails/railties/lib/initializer.rb:411:in `each' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/config/../vendor/rails/railties/lib/initializer.rb:411:in `load_application_classes' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/config/../vendor/rails/railties/lib/initializer.rb:197:in `process' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/config/../vendor/rails/railties/lib/initializer.rb:113:in `send' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/config/../vendor/rails/railties/lib/initializer.rb:113:in `run' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/config/environment.rb:9 /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `gem_original_require' /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `polyglot_original_require' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/polyglot-0.3.0/lib/polyglot.rb:65:in `require' /Users/corithmalin/Documents/Code/Ruby/flavorpulse/features/support/env.rb:8 /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `gem_original_require' /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `polyglot_original_require' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/polyglot-0.3.0/lib/polyglot.rb:65:in `require' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/bin/../lib/cucumber/rb_support/rb_language.rb:124:in `load_code_file' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/bin/../lib/cucumber/step_mother.rb:85:in `load_code_file' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/bin/../lib/cucumber/step_mother.rb:77:in `load_code_files' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/bin/../lib/cucumber/step_mother.rb:76:in `each' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/bin/../lib/cucumber/step_mother.rb:76:in `load_code_files' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/bin/../lib/cucumber/cli/main.rb:48:in `execute!' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/bin/../lib/cucumber/cli/main.rb:20:in `execute' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.6.3/bin/cucumber:8 rake aborted!   • can't run cucumber scenarios due to test-unit version issue on Rails 2.3.5, Ruby 1.9.1

I've been trying to follow along in the RSpec book, (I'm new to all of this) and I have what appears to be some kind of versioning issue. For example here is what I get: ..... cucumber features/messaging.feature:6 # Scenario: Joe can view his inbox cucumber features/messaging.feature:14 # Scenario: Joe can send a message cucumber features/messaging.feature:26 # Scenario: Joe can view a message in his inbox cucumber features/messaging.feature:35 # Scenario: Joe can reply to a message ..... Is there something I need to configure or pass to the cucumber command to see the details of the failed scenarios??

  • Cucumber-rails on jruby installs gem into my apps root directory with bundler

    - by brad
Just installed cucumber 0.7.2 and cucumber-rails 0.3.1 with jruby-1.4.0 on OSX. When I run a bundle install, it places a cucumber-rails directory in my main app with all of the gem code/dependencies. First off, this is definitely not what I want and I'm not sure why this happens for cucumber-rails only. Second, if I delete this folder and just manually install cucumber-rails, when I run script/generate feature blah I get /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/rubies/jruby-1.4.0/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/source_index.rb:344:in `refresh!': source index not created from disk (RuntimeError) from /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/rails/vendor_gem_source_index.rb:34:in `refresh!' from /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/rails/vendor_gem_source_index.rb:29:in `initialize' from /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/rails/gem_dependency.rb:21:in `new' from /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/rails/gem_dependency.rb:21:in `add_frozen_gem_path' from /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/initializer.rb:298:in `add_gem_load_paths' from /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/initializer.rb:132:in `process' from /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/initializer.rb:113:in `run' from /Users/bradrobertson/Repos/app/source/trunk/config/environment.rb:13 from /Users/bradrobertson/Repos/app/source/trunk/config/environment.rb:1:in `require' from /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/commands/generate.rb:1 from /Users/bradrobertson/.rvm/gems/jruby-1.4.0/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/commands/generate.rb:3:in `require' from script/generate:3 Similarly running rake cucumber I get rake aborted! source index not created from disk So something obviously doesn't work. If I add that cucumber-rails directory back in, then my rake cucumber actually runs. Can someone tell me why it would need to install the gem right in my rails app? I've never seen this before. setup jruby-1.4.0 cucumber-0.7.2 cucumber-rails 0.3.1 bundler 0.9.23 webrat 0.7.1

  • Can you review my Perl rewrite of Cucumber?

    - by Evgeny
There is a team working on acceptance testing X11 GUI application in our company, and they created a monstrous acceptance testing framework that drives the GUI as well as running scenarios. The framework is written using Perl 5, and scenario files look more like very complex Perl programs (thousands of lines long with procedural-programming style) than acceptance tests. I recently learned Ruby's Cucumber, and generally have been using Ruby for quite a lot of time. But unfortunately I can't just shove Ruby to replace Perl because the people who are writing all of this don't know Ruby and it's quite certain that they wont want "this" kind of interruption. So to bring Ruby's Cucumber a bit closer to their work, I rewrote it using Perl 5. Unfortunately I am really not a Perl programmer, and would love to get a code review and to hear suggestions from people who both know Perl and Cucumber. Hi Perl/Cucumber StackOverflow users - please help me create this "open source" attempt to re-create Cucumber for Perl! I would love to hear your comments and will accept any acceptable help. The minimal source code is here: http://github.com/kesor/p5-cucumber Thank you for your attention. For those not familiar with cucumber - please take just one small moment to take a look at this one small little page: http://wiki.github.com/aslakhellesoy/cucumber

  • Cucumber Error: Socket Error for Test Environment Host in REST API

    - by tmo256
I posted this to the Cucumber group with no replies, which makes me wonder if this is actually a cucumber issue or not. I'm pretty new to cucumber, and there are a number of things I really don't quite understand about how the cucumber environment is set up and executed within the test environment. I have a REST API rails app I'm testing with cucumber, using the RestClient gem to generate a post to controller create action. When I run the feature with a hard-coded URL pointing to a running localhost server (my local dev server environment; replacing tickets_url with "http:// localhost/tickets" in the snippet below), my cucumber steps execute as expected. However, when the resource URL resolves to the cucumber host I'm declaring, I get a socket error exception. getaddrinfo: nodename nor servname provided, or not known (SocketError) From the steps file: When /^POS Adapter sends JSON data to the Tickets resource$/ do ticket = { :ticket = { ... } } host! "test.host" puts tickets_url RestClient.post tickets_url, ticket.to_json, :content_type = :json, :accepts = :json end (the "puts" statement prints "http://test.host/tickets") Using the following gems: cucumber-0.6.1 webrat-0.6.0 rest-client-1.2.0 I should also say I have a similar set up in another rails app, using test.host as my host, and it seems to work fine. I'd appreciate any insight on what I might be missing in my configuration or what this could be related to.

  • Authlogic Facebook Connect and cucumber

    - by jspooner
I added the authlogic_facebook_connect plugin to my project and I'm now having problem running my cucumber test because of a NoMethodError. undefined method `set_facebook_session' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError) In authlogic_facebook_connect/Session.rb the method "authenticating_with_facebook_connect?" is called as some sort of callback and the controller is defined but is missing the 'set_facebook_session' method. def authenticating_with_facebook_connect? controller.set_facebook_session attempted_record.nil? && errors.empty? && controller.facebook_session end I don't understand why the cucumber test is not loading the controller with this method. • Cucumber works on Eclipse but not on Jenkins

    - by gforte
I am successfully running Cucumber test on my java/maven eclipse project. But when I add my project do Jenkins I always get the following error "cucumber.runtime.CucumberException: No features found at []". I read in this thread Setting cucumber-jvm options in Maven from the command line that: ...tests are running in separate JVM, so you need to specify that system property in the test plugin configuration (i.e. surefire or failsafe plugin config in your pom.xml) But I am not quite sure how to do this. Can anyone help me? PS: I am using "cucumber-java" and "cucumber-junit" dependencies.

  • Passing options in autospec with Cucumber in Ruby on Rails Development

    - by TK
I always run autospec to run features and RSpec at the same time, but running all the features is often time-consuming on my local computer. I would run every feature before committing code. I would like to pass the argument in autospec command. autospec doesn't obviously doesn't accept the arguments directly. Here's the output of autospec -h: autotest [options] options: -h -help You're looking at it. -v Be verbose. Prints files that autotest doesn't know how to map to tests. -q Be more quiet. -f Fast start. Doesn't initially run tests at start. I do have a cucumber.yml in config directory. I also have rerun.txt in the Rails root directory. cucumber -h gives me a lot of information about arguments. How can I run autospec against features that are tagged as @wip? I think I can make use of config/cucumber.yml. There are profile definitions. I can run cucumber -p wip to run only @wip-tagged features, but I'd like to do this with autospec. I would appreciate any tips for working with many spec and feature files.

This happens in the cucumber test environment only and not in the browser(development/production).

I've include below the output from running rake cucumber. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1788885/rake_cucumber.txt Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or how I could go about debugging it further? I just started using Cucumber and in the simplest of scenarios I throw the following error: undefined method has_key?' for #<Nokogiri::XML::Element:0x10677a400> (NoMethodError) ./features/step_definitions/web_steps.rb:36:in/^(?:|I )fill in "([^"])" with "([^"])"$/' features/authentication.feature:9:in `When I fill in "user_name" with "Joe User"' The Scenario is as follows... Scenario: Signup Given I go to the signup page When I fill in "user_name" with "Joe User" Is this a problem in the Scenario, Cucumber, or Nokogiri? Any Solutions?

  • Running a cucumber feature multiple times

    - by evomase
Hi, I'm trying to run a cucumber feature multiple times (i.e 500 times). Is there a way of doing this than me having to type in the same command everytime? I'm guessing this can be done using Rake? I'm not an expert in using rake or cucumber. Will appreciate your help. Thanks

  • At which architecture level are you running BDD tests (e.g. Cucumber)

    - by Pete
I have in the last year gotten quite fond of using SpecFlow (which is a .NET port of Cucumber) I have used it both to test a ASP.NET MVC application at the web layer, i.e. using browser automation, but also at the controller layer. The first gives me a higher confidence in the correctness of the application, because JavaScript is tested, and improper controller configuration is also caught. But those tests are slower to execute, and more complex to implement, than those just testing on the controller layer. My tests are full functional tests, i.e. they exercise all layers of the application, all the way down to the database. So the first thing before any scenario is that the database is cleared of data, allowing the test to assume that only data specified in the "Given" block exists. Then I see example on how to use it, where they test just exercise the model layer. So what are your experiences with these tools? Which layer of the application do you test?
