The features I'm searching are: steganography software (better if FOSS and cross-platform) it must run on GNU/Linux must hide data inside audio/video/image files support of additional cryptography I already use a cryptographic software, but I want to use a steganographic one as an addition to it.   Hi, Anyone knows about some 8-bit game creator software that runs under GNU/Linux? I want to make some funny game in my spare time, but I prefer to have a tool (or a set of tools) that will help to keep it just a spare-time-project, thus not involving programming! :D Thanks in advance EDIT: For instance, some month ago I tried FPS Creator, being a frontend of DarkGame Studio. • If I exchange the CPU, must I reinstall the OSes? (swapping cpus from one *nix-like to another)

  Hi, as suggested by the title, I want to change CPU: actually I have two computers, one with Ubuntu running on an AMD Athlon 64 dual core 5200+ and the other with FreeBSD running on an AMD Sempron single core LE-1250. I would like to swap (I am not sure that this is the correct term...) the CPUs from one computer to the other one, that is take the dual core from the ubuntu pc and put it inside the freebsd pc and viceversa. The mobo is the same. Do you think I will encounter problems?

• Can a power loss break an hard disk?

  Today I was working when all of a sudden a power loss (in the entire house) occurs. I tried to reboot the machine but it states that there's an "Ebios error"; tried with an Ubuntu 9.04 live cd and while booting it states that there are various I/O errors on the first partition (the one with the boot sector). Now I managed to backup all of my data (using the live cd aforementioned) but I don't know if it'll worth the hassle of a reinstallation (and if it could do something useful) or if the only thing to do is to drop the hard disk as far as possible... • It's the ethernet 10/100 in LAN transfer faster than USB 1.0?

  I have an old laptop (PIII 800MHz, with 256 RAM) that I wish to use as my home server: it'll have to serve just two people, so I think that I'll be more than ok as for the RAM and the CPU. The issue is about data, because the internal hard disk is a 12GB, that is...ridicolous! I have more than 60GB of mixed storage and counting (images, videos and music) in an external usb hd. I could put the hd in my desktop pc just to serve the big files through ethernet or let it inside its usb box attached to the laptop. The question is: which of these solutions will be the fastest? USB 1.0 attached to the server (laptop) or internal hard disk serving files via 10/100 ethernet to the laptop on demand?
