• ASP.Net repeater item.DataItem is null

  Within a webpage, upon loading, I fill a dataset with two table with a relation between those tables and then load the data into a repeater with a nested repeater. This can also occur after the user clicks on a button. The data gets loaded from a SQL database and the repeater datasource is set to the dataset after a postback. However, when ItemDataBound occurs the Item.Dataitem is always null.   I have a User Control which is dynamically placed by CodeBehind as follows: Dim myControl As Control = CType(Page.LoadControl("~/Controls/mainMenu.ascx"), Control) If InStr(Request.ServerVariables("url"), "/Login.aspx") <= 0 Then mainMenu.Controls.Add(myControl) End If As per an example from my previous question on here. Within this Control is a repeater which calls a database to generate values. My Repeater mark-up is as follows <asp:Repeater runat="server" ID="locationRepeater" OnItemDataBound="getQuestionCount"> <ItemTemplate> <p id='locationQuestions' title='<%# Container.DataItem %>' runat='server'></p> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> The example above works fine, but I want to be able to prepend text to <%# Container.DataItem %> in the title attribute of that <p to print to the browser like this is some text DATA_ITEM_OUTPUT When I try to do that though, it prints this is some text <%# Container.DataItem %> exactly like that, ie, turning <%# Container.DataItem %> into text, NOT the value from the repeater code. It was working fine before I made it into a dynamically inserted control, so I am thinking I might have something being generated in the wrong order, but given that it works without any prepended text, I am stumped to fix it! I'm new to .net and using vb.net, please could someone point me in the right direction?

  I'm trying to follow the kitten example given here http://www.sencha.com/blog/dive-into-dataview-with-sencha-touch-2-beta-2#comment_form and I have complex components in which one of the property of my data is a list of objects. And I do find a method for setting a list of objects which is setItems however it does not seem to work. My object array is my model MyApp.Model.Sponsor. Could anyone suggest what I'm missing to get this working? How can I download and play mp3 files in Silverlight like I download and show images and text?

  Hi, I'm trying to bind a collection implementing the ICollection, IEnumerable and IList interface to an asp.net repeater. The Collection is named CustomCollection. So I'm setting the datasource of the repeater to the collection, as follows: rptRepeater.DataSource = customCollection; rptRepeater.Databind(); Then, on the ItemDataBound event, I'm trying to access the DataItem object, as follow: void rptRepeater_ItemDataBound(object sender, RepeaterItemEventArgs e){ object obj = e.Item.DataItem; // DataItem is null for some reason } For some reason the e.Item.DataItem object is null. Do anyone know why this is, and/or what I could do to get hold of the object in the collection that is to be databound to the repeater? Thanx!

How do I put the repeated code into a method and call that method from the event handlers so I only have to maintain it in one place?   I have been searching around the web for a solution to this issue but have come across nothing so far. Basically I have a table as shown below, whhich i made up of itemtemplate fields and is populated by a dataset from my database. It shows brands to the user of which they can then click and go onto another page. I need to add another option to the table called "All Brands". Thus then I can use this to go to a page showing all the brands.   I have a Radgrid with 2 Textboxes and 2 DatePickers. The idea is that I have a grid with a Property name, value, valid from and until. I'm filling the first Textbox myself, the user has to fill in the value, from and until.   I have website abc.com and abc.co.in.I have two webservers also. The following issue happens only in abc.co.in with same application deployed on same. We have written a custom IHttpModule and do a rewrite to abc.co.in?some=data. Expected behavior: When user enters some.abc.co.in the expected behavior is browser still display some.abc.co.in but internally call abc.co.in?some=data Actual behavior: The page is rendered properly but in browser the URL changes to some.abc.co.in?some=data I checked what is happening 1.First the server receives the request and does a 301 redirect. 2.The redirect location is some.abc.co.in?some=data I am stuck in this for a day and critical to fix to make our site up and running. • How can I modify a custom object in an ASP.NET FormView based on a button click?

  I have a FormView that modifies an instance of a custom class. The various form controls (TextBox, DropDownList etc.) are working fine. However, I want to include a Button that will modify the state of the DataItem based on some very simple logic. There is no form control which could control this change in a non-confusing way. So I tried adding a Button and modifying the state of the DataItem in the code-behind. But the problem I encounter is that the FormView's DataItem is null/nothing. From reading this SO question it seems the problem is that the item is not databound when the Button's Click event is fired. So, the question; Is it possible to get the DataItem for the FormView during a Button's Click event? and if not: what are my options for implementing this? Thanks in advance. • Can I use loops in repeater? Is it recommended?

  My datasource has an Rating dataItem contains an integer from 0 to 5. I'd like to print stars accordignly. I'm trying to do it within Repeater control: <b>Rating:</b> <% for (int j = 1; j <= DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Rating"); j++) { %> <img src="App_Pics/fullstar.png" /> <% } for (int j = 1; j <= 5 - DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Rating"); j++) { %> <img src="App_Pics/emptystar.png" /> <%} %> I get the error The name 'Container' does not exist in the current context. It is weird, because when I used <%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Name")%> a line before, it worked great. Is it clever to include loops in my aspx page? I think it's not very convenient. What's my alternatives? What's that # means? Thank you very much.
