  • International Assist on iPhone

    Does anyone know if the International Assist feature on the iPhone works when dialing a number using the tel:// URL scheme from an application? For those unfamiliar, IA automatically prefixes the "+1" to US numbers when using the iPhone internationally. I know that this works when dialing from either the built-in Contacts or Phone apps, but can't find anything stating that it works when dialing numbers from an application. Also, is there any documentation as to whether this feature is included on Canadian (Rogers) or European iPhones (or is it only used by AT&T)? If IA does not work when dialing with a custom app, can someone point to the API that would allow me to detect that the use is roaming on a foreign network so I can essentially duplicate IA's functionality? Any help greatly appreciated!

  • Dialing into multiple PPP connections on Ubuntu

    I have multiple 3G USB based Modems. I would like them to keep connected simultaneously, NOT necessarily aggregating their bandwidth; a separate intelligent application would manage their utilization effectively. However I am running into problem of setting up proper routes for the ppp0,ppp1 interfaces: when one of them connects, other's entries in the routing table get updated so it is no more usable. If I reconnect the second one, it would override the first one's routing entries. If I do it over and over, sometimes both of them's entries disappear while in rare cases the two work well. I have tried it both using NetworkManager as well as WVDial but issue pops up in both of these. Perhaps both of them use same PPP dialer at the backend and thats why this issue appears. What is the proper solution to make them work together? In the long run, I'd also like them to automatically dial in once USB gets connected.

    I am sure I am not the only one that asked this question. we have a daily conf call that tanks place in a foreign country. too early to attend so I decided to use skype and record it automatically. I use Task Scheduler "c:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"/callto:+XXXXXXXXXX,,,125 the dialer is supposed to dial the XX number and wait a few seconds (the ",") then dial the 125 access code. Unfortunatly Skype doesnt accept the "," pause Any solution ? thank you

    Our application lets users call phone numbers. Users would like to be able to block their caller ID. On other platforms, we let the user specify a custom dialing prefix. For instance, on my cell provider it's #31#. I've tried two approaches so far. First: id url = [NSURL URLWithString: @"tel:#31#0000000"] // produces nil Second: id encoder = ["#31#0000000" stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding]; // produces %2331%230000000 id url = [NSURL URLWithString: [NSString stringWithFormat: @"tel:%@", encoded]]; // produces a valid-looking NSURL which doesn't do anything I'm thinking at this point that I'm just not allowed to dial # and *, even from a Cocoa touch application. (I know it's not allowed from a web app.) Is this true, or am I missing something obvious?

  • dialing on iphone/ipod touch not working with documented procedures

    I'm trying to set up an iphone app to the phone number of a various sports store using the tel:// url passing method- I am developing on an ipod touch- usually on the touch you see the error message "Unsupported URL - This URL wasn't loaded tel://99887766" when you try and dial a number. I cant get this message to appear on the simulator or the ipod touch. do I need to do some sort of fancy signing before the app will dial properly? I am using this code: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"tel:%@", [selectedBar phoneNumber]]]]; and I've tried adding the slashes: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"tel://%@", [selectedBar phoneNumber]]]]; but neither work. The FXO module is directly connected to our phone line from BT via a BT-RJ11 cable. I'm guessing I've missed a configuration step somewhere but no idea where, any help greatly appreciated.

This checkbox not exist in windows 8 so we cant define in Windows 8 like that.

    Hello, I have a phone supporting 2 accounts, but I need 4 accounts. Is it possible to install some sort of SIP server/gateway/proxy (on a linux server), that would register those 4 accounts and I would be able to connect to it as if it was 1 account?   • Broadband wireless drivers don't work

    I have a Dell Latitude E6520 which is a Ubuntu 12.04 certified hardware. However the driver assigned to the Dell Wireless 5630 (EVDO-HSPA) Mobile Broadband Mini-Card doesn't seem to work. When I boot in Windows 7 I connect to Verizon dialing *99# with no username or password but it won't connect using Ubuntu. The windows drivers are from Novatel Wireless Inc 1.0.0.6 if that helps. This is also an internal card not USB and the hardware Id is USB\VID_413C&PID_8194&REV_0002&MI_00 If anyone can help me with obtaining the correct driver or maybe some other way of getting it to work I would be very grateful. My job requires traveling and I need internet access but hate using Win7.

For example in my application if I want the user to push a button and launch right into the Phone app (close the current app, open the Phone app), would this be possible? I know this can be done for making phone calls with the tel URL link, but I want to instead just have the Phone app launch without dialing any specific number.

    I've just started working for a company who produce a specialist modem. In the test department they simulate actual use with a bunch of pc's acting as clients connecting over this modem. As such each needs to dial a set of dial-up connections. Each of these has to be created manually, and currently takes quite a while on each machine, so i was hoping to be able to automate the creation process. Back in the early days of the internet i remember getting CD's from ISP's where the dial-up connection was configured automatically, and i was wondering if anyone lknew how to do this, or if they could point me in the direction of a tutorial about it. To be clear, i don't want to automate actually dialing the connection, but i do want to run a script which creates the icons in the networking applet that allows us to dial these connection.     Our company uses these fancy ShoreTel 230 phones. We make many phone calls from our custom built web based contact management system. It would be nice if our employees could click on a phone number from a webpage and have it automatically start dialing the number. (Similar to how iPhone handles this) Anyone every deploy something like this? I would imagine it would require some kind of background running ShoreTel process to accommodate this. 90% of our employees use PC (Windows 7) 10% use OS X Even a PC only solution would be great. Is this even possible and if so, where should one begin? Thanks!

    Hey, I've downloaded the android source code for CallLog, Contacts, Dialing in this link http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/packages/apps/Contacts.git;a=tree But now, when I try to import this package on Eclipse, imports like: com.google, com.android.internal.Telephony, com.android.internal.R, com.google.android.collect, android.provider.ContactsContract.Intents.UI, android.provider.ContactsContract.SearchSnippetColumns, android.provider.ContactsContract.ProviderStatus, android.provider.ContactsContract.ContactCounts, android.content.IContentService, android.provider.ContactsContract.Intents.UI And many other imports, show errors saying it cannot be resolved. So my question is, why it shows this errors? Why I cant implement it without this errors? I use the Google APIs, I've created the project from an existing source code, but I dont know why this happens. Thanks.

    I have a tableView which has cells with phone numbers. The app is not dialing the numbers though. The weird thing is, if I change the last statement to this: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"tel:171"]]; the phone dials the number 171 without any issue

    Hi, I have a 3G modem, and the accompanied "Mobile Partner" software really s*cks, and I want to make my own. Currently, I've found out the following: Sending/Interpreting AT commands Setting the APN/PIN/Network Registration/... These things were well-documented on many sites. But now I want to connect, and here the problems start: If I try to do a ATDT *99#, which should dial the *99# number, I get the message CONNECT. But what do I need to do now? How do I tell windows to use the dial in network? Is the '*99#' even the number I should dial? (I think so, because it's the default dialing number in the Mobile Partner application, and on OS X on my 3G modem) I'm writing this program in C#. Thank you! Yvan

    I would like an application which is not readily apparent to casual perusal of the Android. How best to activate it and bring its screen to the fore? Can I detect a special dialing sequence, like *1234#? Or a hotkey combination? When activated, I guess I can pop up an anonymous screen which does not mention the app, but only asks for a password.     Hello! I'm trying to come up with a lightning fast solution to find portions in a string. Here is a Sample string: "PostLoad successful! You transferred amount of 17.00 Rs to 03334224222. Now use PostLoad by dialing 123. PostLoad on SMS will end on 01-03-2011." Objective: Need to retrieve the bold values: Amount and Cell Number. The string contents change slightly but the cell number will always be a 11 digit. The amount is always with two decimal precision. Any suggestions using C# and RegEx?
