When my siemens go to standby mode (when i don't use it for some time), power diode change to red and start blinking (standbay mode). When i push power button (wake up it), blinking diode change to green but nothing else happend (nothing on display, no sound of HDD). When i press power button few second and try turn it on again... it wont display anything... i have unplug charger and then shutdown and power on again without power cable. Then he start working... Few days ago i done upgrade bios to nevest version... but it don't help... Anyone have idea what can be wrong ?

  • sensors reporting weird temperatures

    lm-sensors is reporting weird temps for me: $ sensors coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 0: +38.0°C (high = +72.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) coretemp-isa-0001 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 1: +35.0°C (high = +72.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) coretemp-isa-0002 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 2: +32.0°C (high = +72.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) coretemp-isa-0003 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 3: +42.0°C (high = +72.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) w83627dhg-isa-0290 Adapter: ISA adapter Vcore: +1.10 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +1.74 V) in1: +1.62 V (min = +0.06 V, max = +0.17 V) ALARM AVCC: +3.34 V (min = +2.98 V, max = +3.63 V) VCC: +3.34 V (min = +2.98 V, max = +3.63 V) in4: +1.83 V (min = +1.30 V, max = +1.15 V) ALARM in5: +1.26 V (min = +0.83 V, max = +1.03 V) ALARM in6: +0.11 V (min = +1.22 V, max = +0.56 V) ALARM 3VSB: +3.30 V (min = +2.98 V, max = +3.63 V) Vbat: +3.18 V (min = +2.70 V, max = +3.30 V) fan1: 0 RPM (min = 0 RPM, div = 128) ALARM fan2: 1117 RPM (min = 860 RPM, div = 8) fan3: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM fan4: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM fan5: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM temp1: +88.0°C (high = +20.0°C, hyst = +4.0°C) ALARM sensor = diode temp2: +25.0°C (high = +80.0°C, hyst = +75.0°C) sensor = diode temp3: +121.5°C (high = +80.0°C, hyst = +75.0°C) ALARM sensor = thermistor cpu0_vid: +2.050 V Please note temp3. How can I know what temp3 is, and why it is so high? The system is really stable (which I guess it wouldn't be at those temps). Also, note the really decent core temps, which suggest a healthy system as well. My guess is that the readout is wrong. On another computer it reported temperatures below 0 degrees centigrade, which was not possible, considering the environment temperature of ~22-24. Is this some known bug/issue? Should I try some Windows programs (like CPU-Z) and see they give similar results?

    i am on ubuntu Precise Pangolin. The processor is Intel i3. a desktop. i installed lm-sensors and below is the report "sensors" gave coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 0: +30.0°C (high = +89.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 2: +33.0°C (high = +89.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) w83627dhg-isa-0a10 Adapter: ISA adapter Vcore: +0.93 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +1.74 V) in1: +0.75 V (min = +1.99 V, max = +1.99 V) ALARM AVCC: +3.36 V (min = +2.98 V, max = +3.63 V) +3.3V: +3.36 V (min = +2.98 V, max = +3.63 V) in4: +1.30 V (min = +0.90 V, max = +1.77 V) in5: +0.76 V (min = +1.15 V, max = +0.90 V) ALARM in6: +1.06 V (min = +0.94 V, max = +2.03 V) 3VSB: +3.36 V (min = +2.98 V, max = +3.63 V) Vbat: +3.36 V (min = +2.70 V, max = +3.30 V) ALARM fan1: 0 RPM (min = 3515 RPM, div = 128) ALARM fan2: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM fan3: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM fan5: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM temp1: +39.0°C (high = -121.0°C, hyst = +9.0°C) ALARM sensor = diode temp2: +39.0°C (high = +80.0°C, hyst = +75.0°C) sensor = diode temp3: +127.0°C (high = +80.0°C, hyst = +75.0°C) ALARM sensor = thermistor cpu0_vid: +2.050 V intrusion0: OK radeon-pci-0100 Adapter: PCI adapter temp1: +70.5°C The fans sensors are detecting 0 RPM and some temperatures are out of range - the ALARMs above but i dont understand it very well. • How to use @FileUpload.GetHtml inside Html.BeginForm and sumbit FilesList

    - by Diode
There is a default submit button for the @FileUpload.GetHtml. But I am expecting to have a submit button inside the Html begin form and use that substitution to submit the list of files with some more parameters. But when I do that the passing IEnumerable is always null in the Action method. This is my Action method: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Change(IEnumerable filesList, Guid ID, string Btn) {.... @using (Html.BeginForm("Change", "Home",FormMethod.Post)) { <textarea id="textArea" name="epost2" class="frm_txtfield_big" style="float:left; width:638px; height:200px;"></textarea> <input type="hidden" name="supportID" value="@Model.ID" /> @FileUpload.GetHtml(name: "ChooseFile",initialNumberOfFiles: 1,allowMoreFilesToBeAdded: true, includeFormTag: false) .......} But this is not passing the list of files to the method. Am doing it wrong or what is the wrong with the code.

  • Web Services c#, Sending notifications Clients

    - by Diode
    I want to send a notification (say a string) to subscribers(subscribers ip addresses are in a database on the server side) by calling another method. when ever I call that method the output becomes error-some. [WebMethod] public string GetGroupPath(string emailAddress, string password, string ipAddress) { //SqlDataAdapter dbadapter = null; DataSet returnDS = new DataSet(); string groupName = null; string groupPath = null; SqlConnection dbconn = new SqlConnection("Server = localhost;Database=server;User ID = admin;Password = password;Trusted_Connection=false;"); dbconn.Open(); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(); string getGroupName = "select users.groupname from users where emailaddress = "+"'"+ emailAddress+"'"+ " and "+ "users.password = " + "'" +password+"'"; cmd.CommandText = getGroupName; cmd.Connection = dbconn; SqlDataReader reader = null; try { reader = cmd.ExecuteReader(); while (reader.Read()) { groupName = reader["groupname"].ToString(); } } catch (Exception) { groupPath = "Invalied"; } dbconn.Close(); dbconn.Open(); if (groupName != null) { string getPath = "select groups.grouppath from groups where groupname = " + "'" + groupName + "'"; cmd.CommandText = getPath; cmd.Connection = dbconn; try { reader = cmd.ExecuteReader(); while (reader.Read()) { groupPath = reader["grouppath"].ToString(); } } catch { groupPath = "Invalied"; } } else groupPath = "Invalied"; dbconn.Close(); if (groupPath != "Invalied") { dbconn.Open(); string getPath = "update users set users.ipaddress = "+"'"+ipAddress+"'"+" where users.emailaddress = " + "'" + emailAddress + "'"; cmd.CommandText = getPath; cmd.Connection = dbconn; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); dbconn.Close(); } NotifyUsers(); //NotifyUsers nu = new NotifyUsers(); //List<string> ipList = new List<string>(); //ipList.Add("192.168.56.1"); //nu.Notify(); return groupPath; } private void NotifyUsers() { Socket sock = new Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Dgram, ProtocolType.Udp); byte[] ipb = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("255.255.255.255"); IPAddress ipAddress = new IPAddress(ipb); IPEndPoint endPoint = new IPEndPoint(ipAddress, 15000); string notification = "new_update"; byte[] sendBuffer = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(notification); sock.SendTo(sendBuffer, endPoint); sock.Close(); } This is what has to be basically done. in the server side I have a listening thread and it gets notification when the server sends data( assume for now the database contains client ip address). then ever I call the web method it gives a error "invalid IPAddress" atline byte[] ipb = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("255.255.255.255"); thank you :) since this is my first ever post please be kind enough to give me a better feedback too :) thaks

  • Simple hardware RNG

    - by roygbiv
I made a tongue-in-cheek comment to this question about making a hardware RNG. Does anyone know of any simple plans or can anyone descibe a simple hardware based RNG and the software to drive it? Go to Radio Shack. Buy a diode, an NTR resistor, a capacitor and serial cable. Cut off the end of the serial cable that does not fit on your computer. Solder the diode and resistor in series between pins DTR and DSR of the cable. Solder the capacitor between DSR and TXD pins. Write a small C program to do the following: Set DTR to 1. Start Timer. Monitor DSR until it goes to 1. Stop Timer. Calculate resistance from elapsed time. Retreive serveral bits from that value to use as part of random number. Repeat until enough bits have accumulated.

  • Turning on and off HP Probook 4530S touchpad

    - by ScienceSE
I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my HP laptop and among some problems, one of which I'm trying to solve is the touchpad problem. It's working, but how can I turn on/off it? In SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (which was preinstalled) and Windows, the touchpad is enabled/disabled by touching the left upper corner, when small diode is situated. In Ubuntu, I touched that area many times, but nothing happened. Do anybody know how to solve the problem?

  • Linux AMD-FX 8350 temperature monitoring

    - by HyperDevil
    I’m trying to get the CPU temperature for my AMD-FX8350 on Debian Squeeze. I ran sensors-detect and then sensors, but I only get my motherboard sensors (it8720-isa-0228). There are three temperature values there but I assume those are not for the CPU. it8720-isa-0228 Adapter: ISA adapter in0: +1.36 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) in1: +1.50 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) in2: +3.38 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) in3: +2.93 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) in4: +3.07 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) in5: +4.08 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) in6: +4.08 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) in7: +2.93 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +4.08 V) Vbat: +3.01 V fan1: 3375 RPM (min = 10 RPM) fan2: 0 RPM (min = 0 RPM) fan3: 1730 RPM (min = 10 RPM) fan5: 0 RPM (min = 0 RPM) temp1: +27.0°C (low = +127.0°C, high = +127.0°C) sensor = thermistor temp2: +53.0°C (low = +127.0°C, high = +127.0°C) sensor = thermal diode temp3: +65.0°C (low = +127.0°C, high = +90.0°C) sensor = thermal diode cpu0_vid: +0.000 V Is there anything I am missing? • 50 Years of LEDs: An Interview with Inventor Nick Holonyak [Video]

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
The man who powered on the first LED half a century ago is still around to talk about it; read on to watch an interview with LED inventor Nick Holonyak. The most fascinating thing about Holonyak’s journey to the invention of the LED was that he started off trying to build a laser and ended up inventing a super efficient light source: Holonyak got his PhD in 1954. In 1957, after a year at Bell Labs and a two year stint in the Army, he joined GE’s research lab in Syracuse, New York. GE was already exploring semiconductor applications and building the forerunners of modern diodes called thyristors and rectifiers. At a GE lab in Schenectady, the scientist Robert Hall was trying to build the first diode laser. Hall, Holonyak and others noticed that semiconductors emit radiation, including visible light, when electricity flows through them. Holonyak and Hall were trying to “turn them on,” and channel, focus and multiply the light. Hall was the first to succeed. He built the world’s first semiconductor laser. Without it, there would be no CD and DVD players today. “Nobody knew how to turn the semiconductor into the laser,” Holonyak says. “We arrived at the answer before anyone else.” But Hall’s laser emitted only invisible, infrared light. Holonyak spent more time in his lab, testing, cutting and polishing his hand-made semiconducting alloys. In the fall of 1962, he got first light. “People thought that alloys were rough and turgid and lumpy,” he says. “We knew damn well what happened and that we had a very powerful way of converting electrical current directly into light. We had the ultimate lamp.” How To Get a Better Wireless Signal and Reduce Wireless Network Interference How To Troubleshoot Internet Connection Problems 7 Ways To Free Up Hard Disk Space On Windows

  • What are the IR codes the new Apple Remote (alu) uses?

    - by index
I would like to clone the new Apple Remote (infrared, second generation, aluminium) just for fun with a microcontroller. Most codes of the previous model can be found in the LIRC remote control database (all except the key combinations menu + <<,play, which unpair, change ID, pair the remote. I also don't know which bit encodes the battery status. It uses a modified 32 bit NEC protocol (reverse LIRC codes bytewise). But the new Apple remote uses two additional codes for the play and the new select button. I don't have a mac, so I can't brute force test codes either ;-) So if someone possesses such a remote and the ability of recording those two new buttons and three combinations I'd really appreciate it. If you can't run LIRC (or it gets confused by the new codes) and you don't have an oscilloscope or logic analyser, maybe you could hook up a photo diode to your sound input and record the codes with Audacity? Just hit record, hit each button and combo a few times, hit stop, upload the uncompressed WAV file to a sharing site, done. That'd be great!

  • Problem with several USB devices on Windows XP. How to diagnose USB device?

    - by Lukasz Baran
Hello All, Recently I've bought some electronic devices (like e.g. Sony Ebook reader PRS-600 or HP PDA IPaq) which are connected to PC using USB ports. These devices have own batteries and they are recharged using USB. However, I am experiencing a problem with Ebook Reader and the similiar thing happens with my PDA (but in this case it's more rare). Sometimes, I am unable to make it start recharging, when it's connected to USB port. The LCD diode on my Reader lights up and the icon in the system tray appears. They both indicate that the device has been connected. However, the device should start recharching and it should appear on Windows XP as a 'explorable' device (just like pendrive it offers some HDDs). None of these happens:( This problem appears on two PCs - desktop and laptop. Both have Windows XP SP3 installed. And what's interesting and surprising to me is the fact that these devices sometimes work without any problems. I mean, I just plug them in and they work properly. Besides that, there are some computers (I have tested a variety of possible conditions) on which the problem does not appear! I am confused and, on the other hand, determined to find out what is the real cause of such strange behavior. Maybe I'm wrong but I always assumed that I'm using deterministic machines, but the described situation makes me feel like I was dreaming:) And that's why I'm asking you here. Are there any tools that could help me diagnose USB ports? Or maybe anyone knows the solution? I have a lot experience with low level programming (mostly from the times of MS-DOS applications), but I'm not an expert when it comes to WinXP technology. If this was a problem with network connection, I would know what to do - I know how to track network traffic, but with USB ports I feel powerless. I have a feeling that the problem may lie in a way WinXP handles USB devices. Personally, I hate auto-discovery and P'n'P features available in Windows. I know that some of may suggest to move to Linux or other *Nix system. Unfortunately, I have to use WinXP in my professional life, so it's rather impossible. Besides that, I don't consider XP as a total disaster. Any help from you will be appreciated!
