• drew's autoSuggest plugin help with AJAX results not showing

  hey guys, i use drew's autoSuggest plugin for some time but up until now I have hard coded my data into my JS, I'm trying to see if I can use AJAX to return the JSON data and query data like that. I seem to have it working but no matter what I try I can't get the results to be shown in the drop down UL it creates via jquery. The JSON comes back as it should. • Ubuntu Software Center will not load and cannot be removed

  My Ubuntu Software Center has stopped working and I have been trying to uninstall/re-install it.   I downloaded Ardour yesterday, it worked, edited an audio file done. Come back today it wont start I get this: Ardour could not start JACK There are several possible reasons: 1) You requested audio parameters that are not supported.. 2) JACK is running as another user. Please consider the possibilities, and perhaps try different parameters. So I try and look at qjackctl to see what happening there. When I try to start JACK I get D-BUS: JACK server could not be started. then Could not connect to JACK server as client. - Overall operation failed. - Unable to connect to server. • Camera frustum calculation coming out wrong

  I'm trying to calculate a view/projection/bounding frustum for the 6 directions of a point light and I'm having trouble with the views pointing along the Y axis. Our game uses a right-handed, Y-up system. For the other 4 directions I create the LookAt matrix using (0, 1, 0) as the up vector. Obviously that doesn't work when looking along the Y axis so for those I use an up vector of (-1, 0, 0) for -Y and (1, 0, 0) for +Y. The view matrix seems to come out correctly (and the projection matrix always stays the same), but the bounding frustum is definitely wrong. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? With the near/far planes of the perspective matrix set as small as they are, there's no way a single frustum could contain every single region.

• Is my sequence diagram correct?

  NOTE: I am self studying UML so I have nobody to verify my diagrams and hence I am posting here, so please bear with me. This is the problem I got from some PDF available on Google that simply had the following problem statement: Problem Statement: A library contains books and journals. The task is to develop a computer system for borrowing books. In order to borrow a book the borrower must be a member of the library. There is a limit on the number of books that can be borrowed by each member of the library. The library may have several copies of a given book. It is possible to reserve a book. Some books are for short term loans only. Other books may be borrowed for 3 weeks. Users can extend the loans. Draw a use case diagram for a library. I already drew the Use Case diagram and had it checked by a community member. This time I drew sequence diagrams for borrowing a book and extending the date of return. Please let me know if they are correct. I drew them using Visual Paradigm and I dont know how to keep a control of the sequence numbers. If you do, please let me know :) Diagrams

• Intel 82865G Graphics Controller - making it work in Windows 7

  RE: Putting this out there in case someone else runs into this issue. The intel chipset is on-board. I discovered the reason for the crappy resolution in windows 7 was that the memory to share with the video card was set to 1MB in the BIOS. • PHP File unreadable after being downloaded

  Hi I have a script that creates a file and stores it on the server. The file is encoded in UTF-8 and is a kind of xml file for the cmap software. If i open the file directly from the server then there is no problem and the file can be read. I am forcing a download of this file when a user goes to a specific url. After such a download, the file is unreadable by the cmap software. I have to go into my text editor (notepad++) and change the encoding from UTF-8 to UTF-8 without BOM. Am I sending the wrong headers? Is php doing something to the file when it is downloading it? Any advice on this would really be appreciated. Cheers Drew

  Hi all, I just installed gd2 using mac ports (sudo install gd2), which installed libraries in the following places: /opt/local/include/gd.h /opt/local/lib/libgd.dylib (link) /opt/local/lib/libgd.la /opt/local/lib/libgd.a So when I create my c++ app I add '#include "gd.h"', which throws: main.cpp:4:16: error: gd.h: No such file or directory If I set gd.h as an absolute path (as above)(not a solution, but was curious), I am thrown: g++ -L/opt/local/include -L/opt/local/lib main.o Heatmap_Map.o Heatmap_Point.o -o heatmap Undefined symbols: "_gdImagePng", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageLine", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageColorAllocate", referenced from: _main in main.o _main in main.o "_gdImageDestroy", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageCreate", referenced from: _main in main.o "_gdImageJpeg", referenced from: _main in main.o ld: symbol(s) not found So, I understand this means that ld can not find the libraries it needs (hence trying to give it hints with the "-L" values). So after giving g++ the -L hints and the absolute path in #include, I can get it to work, but I don't think I have to do this, how can I make g++/ld search int eh right places for the libraries? • Custom realm/starting Tomcat 6.0 from Netbeans 6.8/first HTTP request

  I'm using NetBeans 6.8 and Tomcat 6.0.xx. I've created a custom realm and updated the NetBeans project build.xml to deploy the realm to Tomcat. When I debug the project, NetBeans starts the Tomcat server and makes an initial HTTP GET request for 'manager/list'. Tomcat graciously hands this request off to my custom realm for authentication. The request gets denied and NetBeans displays the following error in the output window: (note: error is displayed after NetBeans gets access denied) Access to Tomcat server has not been authorized. Set the correct username and password with the "manager" role in the Tomcat customizer in the Server Manager. Do I have something incorrectly configured? How do I prevent NetBeans from issuing this initial request? Thanks, Drew

  I am lookin for a regex express to remove the email addresses from a text file. Input file: Hannah Churchman <[email protected]>; Julie Drew <[email protected]>; Output file: Hannah Churchman; Julie Drew; I thought a generic regex shuch as s/<(.*?)//g would be a good starting point but I am unable to find the right expression for use Vim? something like :%s/ <\(.*?\)>//g does not work. Error is "E486: Pattern not found:". :%s#[^ <]*>##g almost works but it leaves the space and < behind. :%s# <##g to remove the " <" remaining stuff. Any tips on how to better craft this command?

• Why are some checkboxes in Software Updater disabled?

  In Ubuntu 13.04, the Software Updater shows some apps as having updates, but they're non-selectable: It's not clear why they're greyed out. On the command line: $ sudo apt-get upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages have been kept back: gnuplot-nox gnuplot-x11 nvidia-current 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 3 not upgraded. Note too that running apt-get dist-upgrade does not cause them to be installed either, as it sometimes does with packages that are kept back. • GA UA codes for testing site - set up

  Anyone know the process for using a GA live UA code to test a site in development. I.e. I have a live site with a GA UA code attached, tracking live traffic data etc e.g. UA-123456. I've been told that there is a way to produce another code associated to the primary code to use on the testing version of my live site e.g. test code could be UA-123457. Can anyone shed some light on this? If not possible should I just set up a completely separate GA account for my testing site?

• How to handle gender and sexual orientation on a form with select boxes more inclusively?

  The existing question and the answers for it are not satisfying when one wants to be more inclusive. Gender as Male, Female or No Answer works for some sites, but not others. Taking the view that Gender is not the same as Sex (assigned at birth based on bodily characteristics). Would it be more inclusive to include these two options: Transgender Male, Transgender Female? So instead would more inclusive options be the following? Gender Identity Male Female Transgender Male Transgender Female No Answer Sexual Orientation Straight Lesbian Gay Bisexual Asexual No Answer Gender Expression could also be included, but I think most people would find that too confusing (defined on GLAAD's website linked below) I'm going off what I've read on GLAAD's Transgender Glossary of Terms. • minecraft wont take keyboard input

  After upgrading to 13.10 FTB(minecraft) wont take keyboard input after login in. I can click the buttons but it will not let me type in a address on multiplayer, or copy/paste with mouse. Since upgrading I cannot run the other mod packs either, only the one I had installed from 13.04.   In regards to URL structure when it comes to guests and authenticated users, am I able to track traffic associated with both paths, but at the same time track total conversions going through the shopping cart? I have set up the following URL structure: Authenticated users follow this path: /cart /checkout /checkout-confirmation-ty Guests go like such: /cart /checkout-guest /checkout-confirmation-guest-ty can I track the authenticated and guest users separately? is this possible with Google Analytics?

• {solved}stream TV audio through mic input?

  I have a gaming headset and use it with a few devices and am looking for a way to stream my audio through my pc from tv through the mic jack and then through the optical out. the system is detecting sound from the mic port. I would put this directly through the headset but that port is being used by my ps3. So I would like a way as I said to stream it through my pc to my headset, and it be great to have an integrated volume option in the sound drop down too. [TV - mic - Ubuntu - headset(optical out)] Ubuntu 13.04 EDIT I found part of a solution. Solution by installing pavucontrol and using "pactl load-module module-loopback latency_msec=1" I can stream the audio through my pc.

• Aser Aspire 3690 WIreless Not working, new Ubuntu user

  I don't know that much about Ubuntu, but I put it on an Acer Aspire 3690 Laptop (replaced Win Vista). Everything seems to work fine, but the wireless connection. It says "FIRMWARE MISSING". It detects that I have a wireless card, so I don't know what to do. I've already used the "ADDITIONAL DRIVERS" thing, and that didn't work. I've googled and have not found anything helpful. I don't really know what I'm doing, so can your directions please be kindergarden level? Thank you very much for any help you can provide. I really appreciate it.

• Disk failure is imminent Laptop Hard drive ~5 months old

  There's another post about this, but I don't have enough 'points' to say anything on that thread. So I'll start my own ... with more details! My computer still boots, but gnome domain reports problems with HDD smart. This has been confirmed in the bios as it makes me press f1 to boot up now. I tried running HDD disk check in the bios, but it fails running the tests. As in, running the tests failed not that the tests themselves indicated a failed drive.
