  • Bluetooth DUN Tethering fails

    I have an HTC Desire HD, with Android Froyo (2.2) and PDANet installed. I am using Ubuntu 10.10. I cannot tether it over Bluetooth either with Network Manager or BlueMan. (note, I installed Blueman only after failing with NetWork manager, and I even tried the last version from the PPA). With both my device is discovered, paired, setup. But connecting always fail. Network manager says it cannot get the details of my device Blueman says Connection Refused (111) Here are some relevant entries from syslog.   • dun goofed the files in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/

    there was some weird package issue with (in my limited understanding) 32/64 bit libraries, so i went around making symlinks to the file my lamp installation expected to the ones that actually existed. i did this for a # of files in here: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ however php still ended up not working (separate issue) and now i believe i have a screwed up lib directory. is there a way to revert those library files?

  • TomTom GO & Ubuntu Linux: impersonating a GPRS phone with dund

    Background: I've called TomTom support, and they don't support Linux. I can get my GO 730 to mount Mass Storage, and I found a shell script that will allow me to install maps (haven't tried it; will update when I do.). As of note: USB 2.0 only. 1.1 ports will not work. However--I still can't update the TomTom or take advantage of any traffic services. The GO will connect to a mobile phone, but I don't have one that supports tethering. However, I've found a site that claims to know a way to get a Linux Machine to impersonate a phone advertising GPRS services and it apparently works in Fedora as old as FC4. I'm having some serious trouble getting this to work on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, mainly because I think some of the built-in bluetooth stuff is getting in the way. Changing the class bits in main.conf (hcid.conf does not exist) doesn't crash..., and dund starts and listens, but the TomTom device never seems to want to connect to my machine. I haven't played around much with sdcptool (I think that's the name, not in front of a Linux machine right now) but maybe I have to advertise the DUN profile...I'm not very sure. My Question: I have no way to diagnose the problems. What are some diagnostic tools I can use to help dig down and figure out what's going on? Update: apparently dund is a legacy tool that's going away. What replaces it?

  • Correctly calling setGridWidth on a jqGrid inside a jQueryUI Dialog

    I have a jQueryUI dialog (#locDialog) which has a jqGrid ($grid) inside it. When the Dialog opens (initially, but it gets called whenever it opens), I want the $grid to resize to the size of the $locDialog. When I do this initially, I get scrollbars inside the grid (not inside the dialog). If I debug the code, I see the width of the $grid is 677. So, I call setGridWidth() again and check the width and now I have 659, which is 18px less, which is the size of the scroll area for the jqGrid (Dun-dun-dun..) When I rezie the dialog, I resize the grid as well, and everything is happy - no scrollbars, except where necessary. My dialog init code: $locDialog = $('#location-dialog').dialog({ autoOpen: false, modal: true, position: ['center', 100], width: 700, height:500, resizable: true, buttons: { "Show Selected": function() {alert($('#grid').jqGrid('getGridParam','selarrrow'));}, "OK": function() {$(this).dialog('close');}, "Cancel": function() {$(this).dialog('close');} }, open: function(event, ui) { $grid.setGridHeight($(this).height()-54); // No idea why 54 is the magic number here $grid.setGridWidth($(this).width(), true); }, close: function(event, ui) { }, resizeStop: function(event, ui) { $grid.setGridWidth($locDialog.width(), true); $grid.setGridHeight($locDialog.height()-54); } }); I am curious if anyone has seen this before. Really, it isn't the end of the world if I initially have unnecessary scrollbars at first, but it is just odd that when I call setGridWidth initially, it doesn't take into account the scroll area of 18px. As far as the magical number 54, that is the number I had to subtract from the height of the dialog value to get the grid to render without unnecessary scrollbars.

  • Cannot Connect Modem ( /dev/ttySL0 ) Using gnome-ppp - Dial-Up Connection

    I'm trying to connect my Toshiba Satellite running Ubuntu 10.04 to my Eris running Android 2.1 through a Bluetooth connection and establish a dial-up connection (DUN) with the modem. I can connect my phone to my laptop, and I can detect my modem (after installing drivers), which is located at /dev/ttySL0. But when I launch gnome-ppp and enter my phone number (123 for PDA-Net) I get a dialog that says "Connecting... Sending Password" with Log and Cancel buttons. The log shows this: --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60 --> Cannot get information for serial port. --> Initializing modem. --> Sending: ATZ ATZ OK --> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 OK --> Modem initialized. --> Please enter password (or empty password to stop): --> Configuration does not specify a valid login name. The PDA-Net DUN protocol is running and shows no error. Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

  • error 734 the ppp link control protocal was terminated

    Hi, i want to connect my mobile internet to pc using bluetooth device. I installed blue soleil software in my pc. Steps: 1.I can able to pair my cellphone with pc bluetooth device. 2.I selected my device and select bluetooth dialup networking service. 3.It asks an alert "DUN connection with device?" in my mobile. 4.After Clicked "YES", connect bluetooth DUN connection window opens. 5.In that window there was a fields "User Name", "PassWord" which i leave empty and then in "Dial = 99**1#" and click Dial button. 6.After that it say "Registering your computer on the netwok.." and become fails. 7. The Error is as "error 734 the ppp link control protocal was terminated" The same procedure should be followed for Nokia 3110c it works fine.But in my samsung mobile c3053 it not connected also i am tryig with samsung corby pro BT3510 mobile . Is there any settings changes needed for samsung mobiles ? Can anyone help me ? Thanks in advance...........

  • Windows 7 BSOD at same occasions

    Since I installed Win7 on my DELL Inspiron 1520 notebook, I frequently experience BSODs. I noticed that those nearly only happen on two occasions disconnecting a Bluetooth DUN connection selecting a file for upload in a browser (i.e. clicking on the button, shortly after the file dialog opened) The BSOD doesn't appear always on these actions. BluescreenView told me that most of the time it is srv2.sys+45883 or srv2.sys+42982 or ntoskrnl.exe+71f00 Now I read that srv2.sys is for NETBIOS sharing, which could be triggered when opening the file open dialog. All unused NICs are deactivated. Any ideas how to fix this?

    Hey, I am working on nesting of sheet metal parts and am implementing Minkowski Sums to find No Fit Polygons for nesting. The problem is I can give only convex sets as input to the code which calculates Minkowski sums for me. Hence I need to break a concave polygon, with holes into Convex sets. I am open to triangulation also, but I am looking for a working code on VC++ (6.0). I am slightly running short on time as my whole code is ready and just waiting for input in the form of convex sets. I would really appreciate if somebody with prior experience can help me in this.     Hi all, I am developing an iPhone application which I need to distribute to an organization of about approximately 50 people, no. of users can increase or decrease in future. I checked my iPhone developer account, there I got that I can distribute my application via Adhoc Distribution up to 100 iPhone or iPod touch users. So I think it should be best way to distribute my application to that XYZ organization. On further searching I found that there is also an - iPhone Developer Enterprise Program, which is available to companies with 500 or more employees and a Dun & Bradstreet number. So I want to know - which will be the best way for me according to my requirements ? Also I want to know that say if I choose Adhoc distribution then is there any way for automatic up-gradation in it ie. to install new version of my application on user's iPhone or iPod without deleting the old version. I am a bit unclear about this and dun know why this is happening? What should i do to correct it?

  • How to use my computer as a Headset device for my phone with Bluetooth?

    I want to extract the audio from my phone (the analog TV and FM/AM receiver mainly) and play it through my computer speakers. There is a headphone jack but it is of non-standard size (probably a micro-jack) and I do not have access to a shop that sells that kind of equipment in my area so doing this with Bluetooth is the only solution I can foresee. Both my laptop and my phone support A2DP but for some reason the service (from the phone) does not show up while I add a new connection and the phone does not let me initiate a connection with any other profile except FTP (although it detects other services in the service list like A2DP and works perfectly fine with other profiles like DUN, HID, OPP, SSP if the connection is started through the computer). I am currently using the latest version of the Toshiba stack, I have tried using WIDCOMM but it refuses to install drivers for both the internal Bluetooth (which is a Broadcom device) and the USB Bluetooth that I use on my desktop. The standard Microsoft stack (generic driver) does install but it does not work with both of my devices as they do not detect any Bluetooth devices when scanning. With BlueSoleil (the default stack that came with the USB Bluetooth) I could set my device as "headset" instead of only "laptop/desktop", and this allowed both my phones to detect my laptop as a device they can use as a headset, but the problem with this stack was that only the older phone could actually connect to my laptop and that the internal Bluetooth could not be used. Basically, I want to set the device type as a "headset" for my phone using the Toshiba stack like I did with BlueSoleil. Is there any way this could be done? Thanks.   • How can I use my cell phone to establish a dial-up networking connection?

    I am using Windows 7 and have a BlackBerry with T-Mobile (U.S.). I have paired the phone with my computer over Bluetooth, which automatically creates a serial port for it. I am able to open the port in PuTTY and successfully issue AT commands to the modem, including dialing. However, while using Windows to create and establish a Dial-Up Networking connection, I get an error dialog stating "Error 678. The remote computer did not respond." In my testing, I also tried setting up a connection to dial a number connected to a phone. When attempting to connect over this connection, the phone does ring but the very moment I answer the call, my computer displays the above error dialog. What must be done to successfully establish such a PPP connection? Some special AT initialization string perhaps? To clarify, I'm not referring to the well-described and popular technique known as "tethering," in which the remote host of the data link is the mobile service provider. I am interested specifically in establishing direct data links with remote hosts other than my mobile service provider. Think old-school landline connection to your friend's computer or BBS. Edit 1 As grawity pointed out in comments, the missing piece of the puzzle is the actual modulator that is compatible with v-series protocols, which I expected to be built into the cellphone. So far the best only software alternative I could find is this experimental project. Edit 2 Found this forum discussion today. The participants state that there is no old-school modem in the BlackBerry. Edit 3 When I place a call in PuTTY with ATD, immediately after the call is answered (and the callee is initiating the handshake) the cellphone returns OK. This is not the expected behavior for establishing a data connection. The phone should reciprocate the handshake, and upon success return CONNECT. (Alternatively it should return BUSY or NO CARRIER, but never simply OK.) Windows DUN must be interpreting this as the "Error 678" I was seeing.
