• emule cannot create Incoming Files directory

  Hi, I have installed emule on Windows 7. When I start emule, I will receive a message "failed to create Incoming Files directory 'C:\Program Files\eMule\Incoming' - Access is denied", similar message for "C:\Program Files\eMule\Temp" and "Failed to initialize cryptokeys - secure ident disabled". It looks like Windows 7 does not allow emule to make such operation. How can I give emule the right to do what it needs? Thanks!

• How to use BT or emule across 2 or more hard drives?

  One difficulty with BT or emule is that, when the hard drive is full, we constantly need to move older files to a new hard drive so that we can download newer files. We can change BT or emule's setting so that the folder for downloading points to the new hard drive, but then, what if emule haven't finished downloading for some files that are hard to find, and it is 92% done... in that case, we would like to keep the old setting so that when the last 8% arrives, it can go into the correct file. (and same for BT, if we haven't finished some file or if we want to seed something later). So is there a good way to let BT or emule point to 2 hard drives, or somehow let the new hard drive "merge" into the existing hard drive / folder?

  Actually, I use amule in ubuntu. Because emule users are much more, I wrote emule in this title. But whatever emule or amule, it's okay. Both of them are very similar. I want to get fast-download speed as much as I can. But I don't understand emule(or amule)'s detail functions and algorithms. These are always very qurious to me. If I provide higher upload-speed or more valuable files to other people, can I get benefit?(My download speed) Is serverlist important? Does it cause my download-speed? I captured a image for my amule. Please explain these columns and let me know your tips for getting fast speed. What does 8/9+23 mean in the Source column? What does 294/300(1) mean in the Source column? What does QR:608(0) mean in the Priority? What do I do for getting fast download speed as much as I can get? You can also explain other columns.

• How to prevent eMule from jamming up the router?

  Usually, when eMule is started, after some time, I find that the router is jammed, so the internet connection on that computer stopped working, or it seemed to be waiting for some port to be freed up before it can connect to a website. This sometimes affect even other PCs or Macs using the same router. Is there a way to prevent eMule from hogging too much resource or ports? I see that there is under Options -> Connection "Max Sources/File" and a "Connection Limits - Maximum Connections". Right now I set them to really low numbers: the first to 120 and the second to 200, but what are good numbers to fill in there so that it can work well without jamming up the router or use up the network resource of the PC or Mac? Or could it be that the number of files that are "Waiting" is too high, and used up too much resource? (If so, can emule automatically limit the number to 10 or 20 to prevent using too much resource?) (This happened before on Linksys router, Netgear router, and the AT&T U-verse router.)

  If there are still downloading files (ones that will need extra 2 week or unknown time because they are rare files) but need to use a new hard drive because no space is left in hard drive, then is there a way to use new hard drive while keeping existing downloads ongoing? That's because if we change the folder in eMule from G: to H:, then all existing downloads will disappear too... Update: I can move the completed files over to the new hard drive... but it is going to be a never ending task... (old hard drive gets full... move some... and repeat)

• Port forwarding does not work always?

  I opened port 25374, this is eMule TCP port, then I use canyouseeme.org to check if it is really opened. I got the weird problem : when eMule is running, canyouseeme.org see my port. I got the message : "Success: I can see your service on xxx.xx.xxx.xx on port (25374) Your ISP is not blocking port 25374" When I close eMule then check the port again on canyouseeme.org I got : Error: I could not see your service on xxx.xx.xxx.xx on port (25374) Reason: Connection timed out But when I turn off the windows firewall I got a different error : Error: I could not see your service on xxx.xx.xxx.xx on port (25374) Reason: Connection refused Can anyone please explain to me why it happened like that and how to make the port always opened ?   I study programming by myself.I have learn servel programming languages. but I never write a project more than 1000 lines. I know the best way to improve programming skills is practise. The problem is many books, just talk about the programming language, or talk about build a project from a high level. Fews of books will teach how to build a middle scale project.
