• Zabbix Server with Multiple NIC (one on different VLAN) - Monitor a host from both NIC?

  Basically we have many of servers configured for internal use only. I want to ensure the internal services are preserved as internal by checking a host using the local subnet (allowed - this checks if services are up and working), and that the internal services are indeed internal (make sure the services are "down" when checking from different subnet (vlan)) Is there an easy way to do this in Zabbix?

• Webserver security, intrusion detection, and file intregrity

  I would like to add some type of tracking / alerting on some linux webservers running PHP and Apache. In doing searches I have come across a lot of info from 2006-2009. Would like to revisit things and see what others are doing now. The main purpose here is to track when any files are changed and if so alert me somehow. The same goes for IDS and hopefully something that can reside on same server? Since some of these are small scale projects I would prefer opensource/free solutions that are really effective. Although I would still like to hear of other alternatives if someone has the experience and the cost can be justified.

• Apache - The name

  I am working on a migration to a newer virtualized server. The old one has Apache 2.2.4 according to the old servers phpinfo(). The new one with the most up to date has 2.2.3. How can this be assuming no trickery is involved? The old one is years old. A lot of the guides I reference use apache2 in folders names and many of the conventions. The newest version of things, as I understand it is called httpd. Did apache change the name from what it originally was? (i.e. break the web server component into its own project called httpd, I realize the original daemon was probably still called httpd)

• ASP Guidance - Development on laptop with limited internet access (nonhosted)

  I am fairly experienced with the .NET family of languages, as well as web development (from a PHP perspective.) I am home for winter break and have limited internet access but would like to learn ASP using C#. Am I able to do development for ASP (and see the results) for free on my laptop (with no internet access), and if so what tools do I need? Ideally I'd like to do development in Visual Studio and see the results in my browser via localhost. Extra tools I might need would be helpful as well.
