• Why does Tomcat try to use the cache when compilation failed?

  For some reason, it appears Tomcat is trying to hit its compilation cache when compilation failed. For example, if I create a JSP containing nothing but Hello, <%=world%>!, predictably, I get an error: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP. Subsequent requests however alternate between this and org.apache.jasper.JasperException: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to load class for JSP. Further, if I create a JSP containing Hello!, it of course works just fine. If I modify it contain Hello, <%=name%>!, the response alternates between the previously-mentioned compilation error, and the cached Hello!. What's going on?

• What happened to my EEE PC keyboard?

  I was using my EEE PC 1000H running Windows XP and out of the blue, the keyboard stopped working - pressing keys does absolutely nothing. It does not appear to be a hardware issue, as I am able to enter BIOS configuration with no issues. I've tried: 'Safe mode' 'Last known good configuration' Reinstalling the generic keyboard driver Removing all power sources and holding down the power button, as suggested by popular forums. What could the problem be, and what could I try?

• Is this anycast behaviour correct?

  When connecting to an service provided using anycast, I am experiencing different behaviour depending on whether the request is made using TCP or UDP. With TCP, the request is made to address A, and the subsequent response also comes from A. With UDP however, while the request is made to A, the response comes from address B. Is this correct behaviour, or should the UDP response come from the same address it's sent to?

• Are there any simple languages implemented using ANTLR or similar?

  I'm trying to build a simple interpreted language for learning purposes. I've read countless theory and tutorials on ANTLR and JavaCC, but I can't figure out how to actually make it do something useful. I learn best by "taking something apart and putting it back together again", so, are there any working examples of simple languages implemented with the help of tools such as ANTLR, or similar? Something like the following might be nice: x = 1 if x == 1 print "true"

• What is the best practice for adding persistence to an MVC model?

  I'm in the process of implementing an ultra-light MVC framework in PHP. It seems to be a common opinion that the loading of data from a database, file etc. should be independent of the Model, and I agree. What I'm unsure of is the best way to link this "data layer" into MVC.   I currently have a working, simple language implemented in Java using ANTLR. What I want to do is embed it in plain text, in a similar fashion to PHP. For example: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet <% print('consectetur adipiscing elit'); %> Phasellus volutpat dignissim sapien. I anticipate that the resulting token stream would look something like: CDATA OPEN PRINT OPAREN APOS STRINGAPOS CPARENT SEMI CLOSE CDATA How can I achieve this, or is there a better way?
