• focusout not triggering when clicking on another selector with a click

  I have 2 divs that each have clicks bound to them. when you click on a div a form is displayed (in another div) that allows you to set properties specific to the div that is clicked. I'm using focusout to save the properties to a data object. everything is working perfectly except when i click on the other div. it seems that the click handler on the other div cancels out the focusout of the form field. Has anyone else experienced this? is so what is the proper way to overcome this?

  I am trying to determine when the user has moved focus out of the browser to: select copy/paste (but not to the google search box). Ffox handles this nicely. selecting another window/tab/external widget (e.g., the google search box). focusOut and blur listeners on window and document cannot seem to disambiguate between these two types of focus changes. Can IE do this? I want this distinction so that I can better support usability in my web app without losing focus.

  In IE when I select flash, document.onfocusout is fired. When this event is fired, I would like to distinguish between selecting flash and leaving the browser. When I handle the callback, document.activeElement is the previous html element with focus (what I just left), so this is not helpful for solving this problem. Clearly there has been a change in focus to warrant calling the blur method -- is this information available somewhere? Or is there a better way to do this?

• How to remap Fn key combinations (Lenovo G500)

  I am running Kubuntu 13.10 on a Lenovo G500 laptop. My question is similar to this one: How can I remap my F keys on my HP laptop? That is to say, my F1-F12 keys are mapped to certain special functions, and only holding down the Fn key restores access to the standard F1-F12 keys. How do I remap certain keys? I would like to know if there is a way to remap Fx to Fn+Fx and vice-versa. As per the instructions of #87043 I checked my BIOS and there is no option to switch the Fx/Fn key functionality. Googling through Leonovo's support forums indicates a BIOS update enabling this is in the works, but there's no indication of when it will be complete. Using xev I was able to see what X sees when F1-F12 are pressed. Some send separate keycodes, but some are somehow mapped to key combinations or other unknown things: F1 - XF86AudioMute F2 - XF86AudioVolumeLower F3 - XF86AudioVolumeRaise F4 - Alt_L + F4 F5 - F5 F6 - Disables touchapd, cannot quite understand what xev tells me is happening, reenables if disabled (Kernel log reveals these have well-defined scancodes not assigned to any keycodes) F7 - XF86WLAN F8 - Alt_L + Ctrl_L + Tab F9 - Turns off LCD backlight, xev sees nothing F10 - Super_L + p F11 - XF86MonBrightnessLower F12 - XF86MonBrightnessRaise Following the instrusctions on this page: How do I remap certain keys?   Hi All, I am making a small form for a php app and had a question regarding javascript validation. What is the best event to run the javascript validation on the input value? Is it the "focusout" event? I used "focusout" to originally but it creates problems when the user hits enter while they are still focused on any particular field in the form. • Keyboard / keymap problems with Xubuntu 12.04 + NX nomachine

  I'm running NX client on my Macbook Pro to connect to a Xubuntu 12.04 desktop at work. I have configured NX client to start up a console upon connection. I am able to connect to my remote linux machine and I get a simple xterm console. However, when I run xfce4-session, half my keys no longer work. For example, when I launch a terminal, I typing a, s, or d works, but if type w, e, r, or t, the cursor just blinks. If I ctrl-C out of xfce4-session, all the keys work fine in my xterm console.   For some inexplicable reason the capital d key on my Ubuntu system is no longer producing output. Hitting caps lock and then d produces a D. I've tried multiple keyboards and the issue is the same.   I'm trying to find out the keycode for Fn+? keypress (left arrow). • Capital D key not working / producing output

  For some inexplicable reason the capital d key on my Ubuntu system is no longer producing output. Hitting caps lock and then d produces a D. I've tried multiple keyboards and the issue is the same. • Laptop power button not working

  I have a (seemingly rather exotic) Dell Latitude XT2 notebook running Lubuntu 12.04, fresh install. Tried to get the power button to work as expected (opening lubuntu-logout, just as I think it was meant to be out-of-the box), but no success: power button does nothing but forced power-off on long press. Here some more information, please ask if something more could help: Power button is recognized as a device: xinput lists Power Button as a slave keyboard at /dev/input/event1, and I can run a tool to listen to that device and invoke some action (successfully). But using .config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml to assign some action to XF86ShutDown or XF86PowerOff does nothing. Works well for any key of the keyboard. xinput --test reports a keycode (key press, key release) of 124 when pressing & releasing the power button. xmodmap -pk lists 124 mapped to XF86PowerOff which seems correct to me (btw: is this the same as XF86ShutDown?) When assigning another keysymname to the 124 keycode, e.g. 'w', still nothing happens when pressing the power button (no window seems to receive a 'w'). Works well for any key on the keyboard. The outputs of xev for a press/release of the power button irritate me: MappingNotify event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x0, request MappingKeyboard, first_keycode 8, count 248 FocusOut event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x2a00001, mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor FocusIn event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x2a00001, mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyAncestor KeymapNotify event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x0, keys: 93 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 (instead of 93, I also get different values) I might have missed something very basic since I'm not very familiar with both openbox/lubuntu and the X input system. Btw.: same goes for three other special buttons on my laptop..

• Customising event delegates in the jQuery validation plug-in

  I am currently setting up the jQuery validation plug-in for use in our project. By default, there are some events automatically set up for handling. I.e. focus in/out, key up events on all inputs fire validation. I want it to only fire when the submit button is clicked. This functionality seems to be in-built into the plug-in, which is making it difficult to do this (without modifying the plug-in code, Not What I Want To Do). I have found the eventDelegate function calls in the plugin code prototype method: $(this.currentForm) .validateDelegate(":text, :password, :file, select, textarea", "focusin focusout keyup", delegate) .validateDelegate(":radio, :checkbox, select, option", "click", delegate); When I remove these lines from the plug-in I get my result, however I would much rather do something Outside the plug-in to achieve this. Can anybody please help me? If you need any more details, please let me know. I have searched google with little success. Thanks
