  • How define charset for HTMLhelp?

    My C++ windows program uses htmlhelp. Structure HH_POPUP includes field pszFont in format: "Facename[, point size[, CHARSET[, color[, PLAIN BOLD ITALIC UNDERLINE]]]]", but I cannot find any info about way to define the charset. My russian popup help is totally unreadeable.   • problem with image urls in htmlhelp created by docbook xsl

    I have a Docbook XML document that has some images with special characters in their names (German umlauts). I'm using Saxon 6.5.5 and the Docbook xslt Stylesheets to create HTMLHelp files based on that document. Unfortunately the filenames are then url-encoded (% and hexadecimal code), which internet explorer can't deal with (with firefox it works). I looked for a parameter which could change this feature, but couldn't find any. I also tried to save my image files using the encoded names, but this didn't work either. Does anyone know a good way around this, or will I have to simply forbid special characters in my image names?

  • Easiest way to open chm files programmatically?

    Hi, I have a legacy 32-bit application written in Borland's C++ Builder. I need to show specific pages from within a HtmlHelp file programmatically. Until now I've been doing this via HtmlHelp.ocx, but this does not work on x64 versions of Windows Vista / Windows7 as described in this thread. I can't compile the application as 64-bit executable. Therefore the only workaround I have found so far is to create a 32-bit component implementing a COM object which loads and calls into the 32-bit DLL, and exposes the 32-bit DLL interface as a COM interface. That sounds far too complicated just to display a chml file with a specific topic. There must be something else. But what is it?

    These days a number of commercial and open source tools have been developed for this purpose. However(unfortunately), non of them meet my requirement for specific problem I am dealing with. Currently, I am working on a project that exposes a different classes and functions to user as scripting interface. the user can use the objects from custom scripting interface and call methods to solve some specific problem. The problem I am facing is users of my classes need some sort of documentation in order to write their script efficiently. To address this problem am planing to use the compiler generated XML file to provide context sensitive help, which allows users to mouse over on any of the controls and corresponding methods from the GUI and read the reference documentation of the class/method. Now ... here are my questions: Can I get the sample source code? Can any one give me someone point me to some sort of best approach to address the problem?

    Hi, we have the problem that ShowHelp seems to fail under Vista and Windows Server 2008 if the path name of the help file contains a virtualized folder name. For example, under the German version Vista, "Program Files" is called "Programme". The call System.Windows.Forms.Help.ShowHelp(null, @"C:\Programme\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\Tools\spyxx.chm"); fails, wheras System.Windows.Forms.Help.ShowHelp(null, @"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\Tools\spyxx.chm"); succeeds. If there any way in C# to convert a file path into its non-virtualized counterpart? Or is there any other solution to that problem? Regards

This may be due to a Microsoft security update installed on your machine.     When I try to open .chm help from a network shared drive I receive the following error: Navigation to the webpage was canceled. I know about the .reg solution described on KB896054 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions] "MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001 but it does not work in Windows 7. Any ideas how to make .chm help available from the network drives? Edit: I have the network path mapped to P: drive letter. My program runs from P: and I want to see the help for it. Copying the program to local drive is not a solution for me.

    I'm trying to use LISTSERV's "API" in PHP. L-Soft calls this TCPGUI, and essentially, you can request data like over Telnet. To do this, I'm using PHP's TCP socket functions. I've seen this done in other languages but can't quite convert it to PHP. I can connect, I can change set ASCII or BINARY mode. But I can never quite craft the header packet the way I need to authenticate, so I'm thinking I'm messing up my conversion.
