  • HP Blade ILO not responding in chassis ILO

    I have just started at a new company and I am inspecting their current server config. The HP 480c blades in a c7000 chassis aren't responding to ILO, although the chassis ILO is working fine. I have a feeling the last sysadmin configured the blades ILO as static IPs and it is not responding correctly. The servers are sitting in a datacenter and I'm hoping to be able to fix this remotely. Is there a way that I can change the ILO static IPs for the blades remotely? If not and I do have to go onsite, how do I change the IP addresses of the ILO for the blades? (Sorry I'm not very familiar with HP servers) thanks for you help!

  • DL380 G7: Not able to access ILO on DL380 via ssh from a client

    I have problem where I can't access my ILO(ssh to ILO IP) thru client which is in different network.I am able to ping ILO IP thru this clinet but ssh access is not possible. Is it possible to have ssh to ILO IP from a client which is in different network? FYI, from the same client I can do ssh to server application IP but ssh to this server ILO IP is not possible. Kindly help? Some more info added: ILO IP address is 10.247.172.70 and its VLAN is different than Client VLAN. Client IP address is 10.247.167.80. ping to ILO IP from this client is possible but not ssh. I can do ssh to ILO IP if I try to do it from the server(hostname:node1) having ILO port or from the other node of this cluster itself,So ssh login is enabled.     After upgrading my server (HP DL360p Gen8) to the latest ILO 4.30 I have such error What should I do and how to fix my problem? I do not have physical access to my server and so now I have no access at all (I still have ILO with no remote console) I think probably I should use "back-up" copy of ilo if it stored on server... or should I reupload some another ILO version? upd I've noticed that undefined link is "https:///html/undefined", i think I can try "hack" and just type direct link to "remote" page, but i do not have an address. It should be something like "https:///html/remote.html" Probably someone, who has access to ilo, can give me a link?

    I am configuring an iLO using hponcfg by logging into the machine remotely and running hponcfg with scripts Mod_Directory.xml and then with Mod_Network.xml. I am enabling the DHCP on the device. But after the above scripts are executed successfully and upon rebooting the iLO, it shows the IP address to be 0.0.0.0. What is missing here, so that the iLO gets an IP from DHCP automatically after configuration?

  • Renci.SSHNet and HP ILO 4

    I am using Renci.SSHNet to connect to HP iLO processors. Generally this works fine and I can connect and run several commands and disconnect. However, I noticed that a few new servers that use iLO 4 simply don't react to any but the first command sent. When I login using Putty everything works fine, but when using an SSH connection with Renci only the first command sent is recognised whereas the second and further commands do not cause any reaction whatsoever by the iLO processor, not even an error message. Any ideas why that might be?

Other than changing the port, what are the best practices for securing DRAC/ILO on public Internet facing machines?

  • Remote RIB iLO on Proliant via RIBCL

    I'm trying to automate a process for our Ops. The process requires that some windows servers running on blades are shut down, left down for a few hours, the restarted when some other processes complete. This is done by an op logging on to each blade's iLO web interface to stop and start. I've been trying to automate this with HP's cpqlocfg program with partial success. I can issue the GET_POWER, GET_USER_INFO, etc commands but SET_HOST_POWER fails in a specific way. Using the cpqlocfg GET_EVENTLOG command I can see the events XML login and the power comand being issued from the iLO interface but then nothing happens. Some hints from googling suggest ACPI isn't configured properly but I can't find any hits on how to verify this. Am I even using the right command? There's also a few other options like PRESS_PWR_BUTTON etc. Problem is I have nowhere to test this, all I can do at the moment is give a script to ops and ask them to try it as 4am on a Sunday when they try the proc. The shutdown is trivial as I can use the windows "shutdown" command, it's the power on that I need help on. Anyone done this? I'd tag this "rib ribcl ilo" but lack the rep points, sorry.

    I'm working on a remote server installation entirely through ILO. Due to the software application and environment, my access is restricted to a Windows server that I must access through RDP. Going from that system to the target server is accomplished via HP ILO2 or ILO3. I'm trying to run a CentOS installation in an environment where I can't use a kickstart. I'm doing this via text mode, but the keystrokes are repeating randomly and it's difficult to select the proper installation options. For example: ks=http://all.yourbase.org/kickstart/ks.cfg ends up looking like: ks====httttttp://allll..yourbaseee.....org/kicksstart/ks.cccfg I'm doing this using Microsoft's native RDP client (on Mac and Windows). I've also noticed this before when running installations or doing remote work in nested sessions. Same for typing into a VMWare console in some cases. Is there a nice fix for this, or it it simply a function of the protocol(s)?

  • Why does the CentOS 5.8 install give an error about CD-ROM drive when using HP ILO?

    CentOS 5.8 I'm trying to install CentOS 5.8 on a box. I'm connecting the ISO to the server via a virtual disk using HP ILO. It initially seems to boot fine but in the middle of the anaconda text-mode package installation, it gives the following error: CD Not Found CentOS CD was not found in any of your CDROM drives. Please insert the CentOS CD and press OK to retry. If I click OK, it gives me the same error. I don't understand how it could get this far and then complain about the CD-ROM drive. Any thoughts?

  • How do I resolve certificate errors on HP blade center

    I'm trying to sort out the ssl certificate errors that we get when trying to manage our HP c7000 blade enclosures. To that end I have created a signing certificate and imported it into the browser. In Onboard Administrator I created a certificate signing request, which I signed with my CA and then uploaded the certificate. This worked perfectly, and I no longer get any SSL errors when connection to Onboard Administrator. The problem comes when trying to connect through Onboard Administrator to the iLo on the blades themselves. Done by clicking on the "Web Administration" link. Onboard Administrator links to the blade with it's IP address rather than host name. But the certificate signing request that iLo creates uses the host name. Even when this certificate is signed the browser still complains it is for the wrong domain. I either need to be able to get Onboard Administrator to connect to the blades using host name rather than IP address, or get a certificate signing request which contains the IP address as the CN rather than the host name. It doesn't particularly matter which. Does anybody know how to configure this?

  • How to turn off power metering in HP ILO2?

    I have an issue with all of my RHEL 5.3 servers, where HP iLo2 power meter checks the power draw of the power supply on the server. However this gets passed to the /var/log/messages in our host, and eventually fills up the logs. Anyone have any idea how to completely disable power meter option in iLo? I checked google and iLo2 documentation provided from HP, but found nothing that tells you how to disable it / turn it off. Maybe some CLI command? Im not sure.   • RHEL 5.2 installing on ProLiant BL460c - hangs at 'now booting the kernel'

    As the title states, I have a problem. This server and the installation disc are also on the other side of the world to me so... So far, I have tried to start the install with the parameters: linux text noapic noacpi no=apic no=acpi which results in the same hang. I have also disabled a PCI ethernet adapter, I am uneasy about disabling the onboard ethernet adapter I do not know if ILO uses this. Anyone have any advice? Much appreciated. EDIT: full output after trying to begin the installation. boot: linux text Loading initrd.img.................. Loading vmlinuz....... Uncompressing Linux...done.   • SNMP - Value of CPU processor load not reflecting reality

    Trying to plot CPU load on my server, with the following hardware: ProLiant DL360p Gen8 (same behavior on ProLiant DL360 G7). The machine is running VMWare ESXi5.1 To create a CPU spike I run dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/null, and I know the CPU is overloaded, because I can see a correlating spike in the graphs displayed on vCenter. However, running this snmpwalk: snmpwalk -v 1 -c ******** 192.168.MY_IP 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2 Shows the following results: iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.1 = INTEGER: 3 iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.2 = INTEGER: 2 iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.3 = INTEGER: 2 iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.4 = INTEGER: 3 Am I not looking into the right MIB? Should I be multiplying these by a constant? By the way, using HP Agentless Monitoring I was able to get some cpu stats, but not what I'm looking for, at least nothing I could find wading through these MIBs.

    The system started resetting itself exactly every 2 hours. These are the messages in the iLO2 log: Informational iLO 2 03/07/2010 20:40 03/07/2010 20:40 1 Server power restored. Caution iLO 2 03/07/2010 20:40 03/07/2010 20:40 1 Server reset. It's not an ASR reset (that would show in the log) Redundant power supplies, swapped but no change. Turned off all virtual machines (i.e. now only running hypervisor) but not OK Boot HP smartstart diagnostics disk, ALL OK Diagnostic disk reports no errors Went back to booting Hypervisor and the problem is back. Seems the hyper-V system disk has got a time based program (virus) causing the reset. I thought the hypervisor had a small attack surface and should be OK. All virtual machines (SBS2008, Win7 and Win XP) and network computers are protected with TrendMicro WFBS. I am about to rebuild the disk (I have backups) but wondered if there were any suggestions to try first???

When the server is powered on the power light turns green but the machine's status light (the HP logo on the front) stays off and there is no video output through th onboard VGA. The system fan kicks in and if connected to a network the link light shows activity. I have no extra boards (iLO card, graphics card) only 4GB PNY non-standard stick of RAM.

  • Creating rescue / install USB flash disk for CentOS

    For CentOS installation CDs, you can install OS, as well as booting into "rescue" mode so that you can do a chroot mount on the system partition for problem solving, even the system is installed in hardware RAID drives. How can we create a similar thing but on usb flash drive? I tried to do it with unetbootin, but when booting into the USB, eventually the CentOS setup still requires presence of CDs. Ultimately, I want to use this usb flash drive for remote disaster recovery through say HP iLo remote console / Dell iDrac etc.
