    I am calling a java function from JSP page which returns file name after creationg a XML file. In some cases where size of file is large(Java function execution takes much time due to large data) it is returning blank where as XML file is genertaed after some time. Can any one help me to get the file name in this case so that user can know the generated file name.

  • Difference between internet and Desktop jave EE app server

    Hello. I need some clarification. I know that in order to run a java EE project, one needs a java EE compliant application server, such as tomcat, jboss, glashfish, etc. But, i download these to my desktop, but how about when i run it online? Are Jboss, tomcat, glashfish, etc. application servers just for your desktop, or are these the app server internet service providers have as well. I am trying to use godaddy as my internet service provider; i called them, but the customer service guy didnt know what application server they had, or did i ask the wrong question? Or how can i know waht application server they have? Thank you, any help is greatly appreciated.

    Swift seem to fit into the same “space” as Java/C# as it was created to make it easier to create end user applications. It is also used to target smart phones like Java/C#. However reading it’s documentation it seems to come from anther universe, you could say it is from Jupiter while C#/Java is from Saturn. As a C# programmer I am finding myself making assumptions that are not true, so what are the conceptual “traps” that I should look out for while leaning about Swift?

  • Why does 12:20 PM parse to 0:20 on the next day?

    I'm using java.text.SimpleDateFormat to parse string representations of date/time values inside an XML document. I'm seeing all times that have an hour value of 12 shifted by 12 hours into the future, i. e. 20 minutes past noon gets parsed to mean 20 minutes past midnight the following day. I wrote a unit test which seems to confirm that the error is made upon parsing (I checked the return values from getTime() with the linux shell command date). Now I'm wondering: is there a bug in the parse() method? is there something wrong with the input string? am I using the wrong format string for the input? The input data is taken from Yahoo's YWeather service.     I'm cleaning HTML using cyberneko and xerces. However , some $#@@!@@ websites still use BOTH <script>...</script> and <script.../> So what happens is this : given <script..../> <div> Some Text </div> <script> scripting stuff </script> , neko parses all the above line as a script , so I get <script..../> &lt div &gt Some Text &lt/div &gt &lt script &gt scripting stuff </script> , And then I lose all the inside content :( Any advice?

Now I'm told that I have to download Java Platform Micro Edition Software Development Kit 3.0 So, should I download this? And once I download and install this in Linux, what do I have to install for Netbeans so I can create a Mobile Application? I'm fairly new to this environment so please any advice is welcome! :)

  • aapt.exe has stopped working and R.java cannot be resolved after adding Google Play Services library to an existing project

    I'm trying to add new google-play-services_lib in my old project, due to which R.jave file is removed from the project. Also, as soon as i remove google-play-services_lib, i get my R.java file back. minimum sdk version is 11. I'm referring to following link: https://developer.android.com/google/play-services/setup.html I am following these steps to add library as a project == Right-click on My project - Properties In Android-Library section click Add select recently added project - Ok then aapt.exe has stopped working and R.jave file is removed from the project

    Pamatuji si, jak jsem pred pár lety sedel na konferenci Oracle Develop a sledoval svého ponekud známejšího kolegu Marka Townsenda ukazovat prostinké demo - jak se jedna a tatáž operace dá udelat bud velmi pomalu a nebo velmi rychle. Nešlo o klasické ladení SQL, ale efektivní volání techto dotazu. Jednotlivé techniky samy o sobe jsou pritom asi všem známé. Ohromilo mne ale hlavne to, jak velký rozdíl ve výkonu stejné operace provádené stejným jednoduchým SQL dotazem muže být. Ríkám si, že kdyby ten rozdíl videlo více lidí, možná by se casteji donutili napsat o ten jeden, dva rádky kódu více, aby byl kód treba i o rád efektivnejší a rychlejší. Pokusil jsem se udelat podobný príklad a na jeho základne vznikla trojice clánku, které postupne vycházely na server Databázový svet.Z nejakého duvodu se ale poslední díl nikdy nedockal publikace. Protože jsem od té doby párkrát narazil na potrebu odkázat nekoho na celou trojici clánku, rozhodl jsem se je re-publikovat na tomto blogu. Problém a rešení budu ukazovat v Jave, ale ve skutecnosti jde o postupy, které jsou platné at už voláte databázi odkudkoliv. Úkol je jednoduchý - vložit 100.000 záznamu do jednoduché tabulky. A postupne si ukážeme že ze základního nejpomalejšího rešení se nekolika jednoduchými kroky dostaneme na rešení, které bude 80x rychlejší.

  • Middle tier language for interfacing C/C++ with db and web app

    I have a web application requiring a middle-tier language to communicate between an oracle database and math routines on a Linux server and a flex-based application on a client. I'm not a software expert, and need recommendations for which language to use for the middle-tier. The math routines are currently in Matlab but will be ported to C (or C++) as shared libraries. Thus, by default there's some C or C++ communication necessary. These routines rely on FFTW (www.fftw.org), which is called directly from C or C++ (thus, I don't see re-writing these routines in another language). The middle tier must manage traffic between the client, the math routines, and the Oracle database. The client will trigger the math routines aynchronously, and the results saved in the db and transferred back to the client, etc. The middle-tier will also need to authenticate user accounts/passwords, and send out various administrative emails. Originally I thought PhP the obvious choice, but interfacing asychronously multiple clients with the C or C++ routines doesn't seem straightforward. Then I thought, why not just keep the whole middle tier in C or C++, but I'm not sure if this is done in the industry (C or C++ doesn't seem as web-friendly as other languages). There's always Jave + JNI, but maybe that introduces other complications (not sure). Any feedback appreciated.

  • Data tweaking code runs fine when executed directly - but never stops when used in trigger

    I have written some code to ensure that items on an order are all numbered (the "position number" or "item number" has been introduced only recently and we did not want to go and change all related code - as it is "asthetics only" and has no functional impact.) So, the idea is to go and check for an records that jave an itemno of NULL or 0 - and then compute one and assign it. When executing this code in a query window, it works fine. When putting it into an AFTER INSERT-trigger, it loops forever.   • Communication between java server and matlab client

    I'd like to establish a server(Java)/client (Matlab) communication using socket. They can send messages to each other. An example shows how to do this in Java server and Java client, http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/sockets/clientServer.html. When I try to rewrite the client part in Matlab, I only can get the first message that the Java server sends and display it in the Matlab command window. When I type a message in the Matlab command window, I can't pass it to the Java Server. Jave code: kkSocket = new Socket("localhost", 3434); Matlab equivalent: kkSocket = Socket('localhost', 3434); Java code for client: out = new PrintWriter(kkSocket.getOutputStream(), true); in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(kkSocket.getInputStream())); What would be a Matlab equivalent for this?
