  • Error in joining 4 AVI files.

    - by goldenmean
Hello, I have 4 avi files. Each file can be played properly in VLC player, Windows media player. Video-Audio Codec type in each of this avi file is Xvid-Mpga. I used below avi joiners: Quick AVI joiner, AVI join, BoilSoft Video Joiner(trial version), but all of them gave an error when i select the first part avi file saying : "format of the part1.avi file cannot be recognized".. What could be the problem. How do i join these AVI files. Any pointers will help. Thanks. -AD.

  • Can I access Spring session-scoped beans from application-scoped beans? How?

    - by Corvus
    I'm trying to make this 2-player web game application using Spring MVC. I have session-scoped beans Player and application-scoped bean GameList, which creates and stores Game instances and passes them to Players. On player creates a game and gets its ID from GameList and other player sends ID to GameList and gets Game instance. The Game instance has its players as attributes. Problem is that each player sees only himself instead of the other one. Example of what each player sees: First player (Alice) creates a game: Creator: Alice, Joiner: Empty Second player (Bob) joins the game: Creator: Bob, Joiner: Bob First player refreshes her browser Creator: Alice, Joiner: Alice What I want them to see is Creator: Alice, Joiner: Bob. Easy way to achieve this is saving information about players instead of references to players, but the game object needs to call methods on its player objects, so this is not a solution. I think it's because of aop:scoped-proxy of session-scoped Player bean. If I understand this, the Game object has reference to proxy, which refers to Player object of current session. Can Game instance save/access the other Player objects somehow? beans in dispatcher-servlet.xml: <bean id="userDao" class="authorization.UserDaoFakeImpl" /> <bean id="gameList" class="model.GameList" /> <bean name="/init/*" class="controller.InitController" > <property name="gameList" ref="gameList" /> <property name="game" ref="game" /> <property name="player" ref="player" /> </bean> <bean id="game" class="model.GameContainer" scope="session"> <aop:scoped-proxy/> </bean> <bean id="player" class="beans.Player" scope="session"> <aop:scoped-proxy/> </bean> methods in controller.InitController private GameList gameList; private GameContainer game; private Player player; public ModelAndView create(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws Exception { game.setGame(gameList.create(player)); return new ModelAndView("redirect:game"); } public ModelAndView join(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response, GameId gameId) throws Exception { game.setGame(gameList.join(player, gameId.getId())); return new ModelAndView("redirect:game"); } called methods in model.gameList public Game create(Player creator) { Integer code = generateCode(); Game game = new Game(creator, code); games.put(code, game); return game; } public Game join(Player joiner, Integer code) { Game game = games.get(code); if (game!=null) { game.setJoiner(joiner); } return game; }

  • How to simulate inner join on very large files in java (without running out of memory)

    - by Constantin
I am trying to simulate SQL joins using java and very large text files (INNER, RIGHT OUTER and LEFT OUTER). The files have already been sorted using an external sort routine. The issue I have is I am trying to find the most efficient way to deal with the INNER join part of the algorithm. Right now I am using two Lists to store the lines that have the same key and iterate through the set of lines in the right file once for every line in the left file (provided the keys still match). In other words, the join key is not unique in each file so would need to account for the Cartesian product situations ... left_01, 1 left_02, 1 right_01, 1 right_02, 1 right_03, 1 left_01 joins to right_01 using key 1 left_01 joins to right_02 using key 1 left_01 joins to right_03 using key 1 left_02 joins to right_01 using key 1 left_02 joins to right_02 using key 1 left_02 joins to right_03 using key 1 My concern is one of memory. I will run out of memory if i use the approach below but still want the inner join part to work fairly quickly. What is the best approach to deal with the INNER join part keeping in mind that these files may potentially be huge public class Joiner { private void join(BufferedReader left, BufferedReader right, BufferedWriter output) throws Throwable { BufferedReader _left = left; BufferedReader _right = right; BufferedWriter _output = output; Record _leftRecord; Record _rightRecord; _leftRecord = read(_left); _rightRecord = read(_right); while( _leftRecord != null && _rightRecord != null ) { if( _leftRecord.getKey() < _rightRecord.getKey() ) { write(_output, _leftRecord, null); _leftRecord = read(_left); } else if( _leftRecord.getKey() > _rightRecord.getKey() ) { write(_output, null, _rightRecord); _rightRecord = read(_right); } else { List<Record> leftList = new ArrayList<Record>(); List<Record> rightList = new ArrayList<Record>(); _leftRecord = readRecords(leftList, _leftRecord, _left); _rightRecord = readRecords(rightList, _rightRecord, _right); for( Record equalKeyLeftRecord : leftList ){ for( Record equalKeyRightRecord : rightList ){ write(_output, equalKeyLeftRecord, equalKeyRightRecord); } } } } if( _leftRecord != null ) { write(_output, _leftRecord, null); _leftRecord = read(_left); while(_leftRecord != null) { write(_output, _leftRecord, null); _leftRecord = read(_left); } } else { if( _rightRecord != null ) { write(_output, null, _rightRecord); _rightRecord = read(_right); while(_rightRecord != null) { write(_output, null, _rightRecord); _rightRecord = read(_right); } } } _left.close(); _right.close(); _output.flush(); _output.close(); } private Record read(BufferedReader reader) throws Throwable { Record record = null; String data = reader.readLine(); if( data != null ) { record = new Record(data.split("\t")); } return record; } private Record readRecords(List<Record> list, Record record, BufferedReader reader) throws Throwable { int key = record.getKey(); list.add(record); record = read(reader); while( record != null && record.getKey() == key) { list.add(record); record = read(reader); } return record; } private void write(BufferedWriter writer, Record left, Record right) throws Throwable { String leftKey = (left == null ? • Modify PHP Search Script to Handle Multiple Entries For a Single Input

    - by Thomas
I need to modify a php search script so that it can handle multiple entries for a single field. The search engine is designed for a real estate website. The current search form allows users to search for houses by selecting a single neighborhood from a dropdown menu. Instead of a dropdown menu, I would like to use a list of checkboxes so that the the user can search for houses in multiple neighborhoods at one time. I have converted all of the dropdown menu items into checkboxes on the HTML side but the PHP script only searches for houses in the last checkbox selected. For example, if I selected: 'Dallas' 'Boston' 'New York' the search engine will only search for houses in New York. Im new to PHP, so I am a little at a loss as to how to modify this script to handle the behavior I have described: <?php require_once(dirname(__FILE__).'/extra_search_fields.php'); //Add Widget for configurable search. add_action('plugins_loaded',array('DB_CustomSearch_Widget','init')); I have 4 avi files. Thanks. -AD.

  • Downgrade 'local' packages in Debian/Ubuntu

    - by Matt Joiner
I recently unticked the "pre-released updates" option in Software Sources on my Ubuntu Lucid 10.04.1 installation. The Ubuntu wiki states the following regarding this source: The proposed updates are updates which are waiting to be moved into the recommended updates queue after some testing. They may never reach recommended or they may be replaced with a more recent update. Roughly 20 installed packages have indeed not made it into recommended updates, and occasionally cause conflicts when I install new software, as related packages of the newer version are unavailable now that I've disabled the source. How can I force a downgrade of all packages for which an earlier version exists in a enabled repository?

  • Table element in CSS table-cell offsets other table-cell contents

    - by Matt Joiner
    The following table element in the "center" div causes the contents in the "left" divs to be offset by several pixels from the top (8 in my browser). Adding some text prior to the table removes this offset. Why? How do I stop this from happening without requiring a "dummy" line of text before my table? <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> #left { display: table-cell; background-color: blue; } #menu { background-color: green; } #center { background-color: red; display: table-cell; } </style> <body> <div id="left"> <div id="menu"> Menu 1<br> Menu 2<br> </div> </div> <div id="center"> <table><tr><td>This is the main contents.</tr></td></table> </div> <div id="left"> <div id="menu"> Menu 1<br> Menu 2<br> </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Is there any danger in calling free() or delete instead of delete[]? [closed]

    - by Matt Joiner
Possible Duplicate: ( POD )freeing memory : is delete[] equal to delete ? Does delete deallocate the elements beyond the first in an array? char *s = new char[n]; delete s; Does it matter in the above case seeing as all the elements of s are allocated contiguously, and it shouldn't be possible to delete only a portion of the array? For more complex types, would delete call the destructor of objects beyond the first one? Object *p = new Object[n]; delete p; How can delete[] deduce the number of Objects beyond the first, wouldn't this mean it must know the size of the allocated memory region? What if the memory region was allocated with some overhang for performance reasons? For example one could assume that not all allocators would provide a granularity of a single byte. Then any particular allocation could exceed the required size for each element by a whole element or more. For primitive types, such as char, int, is there any difference between: int *p = new int[n]; delete p; delete[] p; free p; Except for the routes taken by the respective calls through the delete-free deallocation machinery?

  • Implicitly invoking parent class initializer

    - by Matt Joiner
class A(object): def __init__(self, a, b, c): #super(A, self).__init__() super(self.__class__, self).__init__() class B(A): def __init__(self, b, c): print super(B, self) print super(self.__class__, self) #super(B, self).__init__(1, b, c) super(self.__class__, self).__init__(1, b, c) class C(B): def __init__(self, c): #super(C, self).__init__(2, c) super(self.__class__, self).__init__(2, c) C(3) In the above code, the commented out __init__ calls appear to the be the commonly accepted "smart" way to do super class initialization. However in the event that the class hierarchy is likely to change, I have been using the uncommented form, until recently. It appears that in the call to the super constructor for B in the above hierarchy, that B.__init__ is called again, self.__class__ is actually C, not B as I had always assumed. Is there some way in Python-2.x that I can overcome this, and maintain proper MRO when calling super constructors without actually naming the current class?

  • Wrapping FUSE from Go

    - by Matt Joiner
I'm playing around with wrapping FUSE with Go. However I've come stuck with how to deal with struct fuse_operations. I can't seem to expose the operations struct by declaring type Operations C.struct_fuse_operations as the members are lower case, and my pure-Go sources would have to use C-hackery to set the members anyway. My first error in this case is "can't set getattr" in what looks to be the Go equivalent of a default copy constructor. My next attempt is to expose an interface that expects GetAttr, ReadLink etc, and then generate C.struct_fuse_operations and bind the function pointers to closures that call the given interface. This is what I've got (explanation continues after code): package fuse // #include <fuse.h> // #include <stdlib.h> import "C" import ( //"fmt" "os" "unsafe" ) type Operations interface { GetAttr(string, *os.FileInfo) int } func Main(args []string, ops Operations) int { argv := make([]*C.char, len(args) + 1) for i, s := range args { p := C.CString(s) defer C.free(unsafe.Pointer(p)) argv[i] = p } cop := new(C.struct_fuse_operations) cop.getattr = func(*C.char, *C.struct_stat) int {} argc := C.int(len(args)) return int(C.fuse_main_real(argc, &argv[0], cop, C.size_t(unsafe.Sizeof(cop)), nil)) } package main import ( "fmt" "fuse" "os" ) type CpfsOps struct { a int } func (me *CpfsOps) GetAttr(string, *os.FileInfo) int { return -1; } func main() { fmt.Println(os.Args) ops := &CpfsOps{} fmt.Println("fuse main returned", fuse.Main(os.Args, ops)) } This gives the following error: fuse.go:21[fuse.cgo1.go:23]: cannot use func literal (type func(*_Ctype_char, *_Ctype_struct_stat) int) as type *[0]uint8 in assignment I'm not sure what to pass to these members of C.struct_fuse_operations, and I've seen mention in a few places it's not possible to call from C back into Go code. If it is possible, what should I do? How can I provide the "default" values for interface functions that acts as though the corresponding C.struct_fuse_operations member is set to NULL?

  • Using a debugger and curses at the same time?

    - by Matt Joiner
I'm calling python -m pdb myapp.py, when an exception fires, and I'd normally be thrown back to the pdb interpreter to investigate the problem. However this exception is being thrown after I've called through curses.wrapper() and entered curses mode, rendering the pdb interpreter useless. How can I work around this?

  • __getattr__ on a module

    - by Matt Joiner
How can implement the equivalent of a __getattr__ on a class, on a module? Example When calling a function that does not exist in a module's statically defined attributes, I wish to create an instance of a class in that module, and invoke the method on it with the same name as failed in the attribute lookup on the module. class A(object): def salutation(self, accusative): print "hello", accusative def __getattr__(mod, name): return getattr(A(), name) if __name__ == "__main__": salutation("world") Which gives: matt@stanley:~/Desktop$ python getattrmod.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "getattrmod.py", line 9, in <module> salutation("world") NameError: name 'salutation' is not defined Evidently something is not right about my assumed implementation.

  • Cross platform unicode path handling

    - by Matt Joiner
I'm using boost::filesystem for cross-platform path manipulation, but this breaks down when calls need to be made down into interfaces I don't control that won't accept UTF-8. For example when using the Windows API, I need to convert to UTF-16, and then call the wide-string version of whatever function I was about to call, and then convert any output back to UTF-8. While the wpath, and other w* forms of many of the boost::filesystem functions help keep sanity, are there any suggestions for how best to handle this conversion to wide-string forms where needed, while maintaining consistency in my own code?

  • Yield only as many are required from a generator

    - by Matt Joiner
I wish to yield from a generator only as many items are required. In the following code a, b, c = itertools.count() I receive this exception: ValueError: too many values to unpack I've seen several related questions, however I have zero interest in the remaining items from the generator, I only wish to receive as many as I ask for, without providing that quantity in advance. It seems to me that Python determines the number of items you want, but then proceeds to try to read and store more than that number. How can I yield only as many items as I require, without passing in how many items I want?

  • How do I call setattr() on the current module?

    - by Matt Joiner
What do I pass as the first parameter "object" to the function setattr(object, name, value), to set variables on the current module? For example: setattr(object, "SOME_CONSTANT", 42); giving the same effect as: SOME_CONSTANT = 42 within the module containing these lines (with the correct object). I'm generate several values at the module level dynamically, and as I can't define __getattr__ at the module level, this is my fallback.

  • Why is this default template parameter not allowed?

    - by Matt Joiner
I have the following class: template <typename Type = void> class AlignedMemory { public: AlignedMemory(size_t alignment, size_t size) : memptr_(0) { int iret(posix_memalign((void **)&memptr_, alignment, size)); if (iret) throw system_error("posix_memalign"); } virtual ~AlignedMemory() { free(memptr_); } operator Type *() const { return memptr_; } Type *operator->() const { return memptr_; } //operator Type &() { return *memptr_; } //Type &operator[](size_t index) const; private: Type *memptr_; }; And attempt to instantiate an automatic variable like this: AlignedMemory blah(512, 512); This gives the following error: src/cpfs/entry.cpp:438: error: missing template arguments before ‘buf’ What am I doing wrong? Is void not an allowed default parameter?

  • What interprocess locking calls should I monitor?

    - by Matt Joiner
I'm monitoring a process with strace/ltrace in the hope to find and intercept a call that checks, and potentially activates some kind of globally shared lock. While I've dealt with and read about several forms of interprocess locking on Linux before, I'm drawing a blank on what to calls to look for. Currently my only suspect is futex() which comes up very early on in the process' execution. Update0 There is some confusion about what I'm after. I'm monitoring an existing process for calls to persistent interprocess memory or equivalent. I'd like to know what system and library calls to look for. I have no intention call these myself, so naturally futex() will come up, I'm sure many libraries will implement their locking calls in terms of this, etc. Update1 I'd like a list of function names or a link to documentation, that I should monitor at the ltrace and strace levels (and specifying which). Any other good advice about how to track and locate the global lock in mind would be great.

  • How can I mark a file as descended from 2 other files in Mercurial?

    - by Matt Joiner
I had 2 Python similar scripts, that I've since merged into one (and now takes some parameters to differ the behaviour appropriately). Both of the previous files are in the tip of my Mercurial repository. How can I indicate that the new file, is a combination of the 2 older files that I intend to remove? Also note, that 1 file has been chosen in favor of the other, and some code moved across, so if it's not possible to create a version controlled file with a new name, then assimilating one file's history into the other will suffice.

  • Equivalent to GetTickCount() on Linux

    - by Matt Joiner
I'm looking for an equivalent to GetTickCount() on Linux. Presently I am using Python's time.time() which presumably calls through to gettimeofday(). My concern is that the time returned (the unix epoch), may change erratically if the clock is messed with, such as by NTP. A simple process or system wall time, that only increases positively at a constant rate would suffice. Does any such time function in C or Python exist?
