• Excel pivot table reading from xml

  Can Excel 2007 use an external xml file as the connection for a pivot table? I am able to filter the dialog by xml when specifying a type of data however I get an error saying that it is not a valid datasource.

• Good examples of MVVM Template

  I am currently working with the Microsoft MVVM template and find the lack of detailed examples frustrating. The included ContactBook example shows very little Command handling and the only other example I've found is from an MSDN Magazine article where the concepts are similar but uses a slightly different approach and still lack in any complexity. Are there any decent MVVM examples that at least show basic CRUD operations and dialog/content switching? • WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent() returns SYSTEM when ran from custom action

  I have an install project that launches a custom action at commit which starts the application that was just installed. During the startup of this application I have a method that checks the current user's name to perform some authentication. When launched from this custom action I am getting 'NTAUTHORITY\SYSTEM' instead of 'DOMAIN\USER'

• System.Data.DataException thrown when launching application after install

  I currently have a (Visual Studio 2008) installer that has a 'Primary output...' custom action under 'Install' with 'InstallerClass' set to false. During the install I get a System.Data.DataException. When I run the debugger I am getting an exception being thrown from a bit of database access code that runs when the application starts. The database access is using Windows Authentication and works correctly when the application is started manually. Is this something to do with permission settings not allowing db access when launched from the installer? (I'm out of ideas)

• Convert dependencies to point to View instead of Table

  I currently have a SQL Server 2008 database in which I am planning to separate out some tables to other databases. I want to be able to replace all references to the separated tables from the original database using views. Is there a better way (other than manually changing all FK and SProc references) to switch all the dependencies to reference the view instead of the table?
