• No startup sound

  Despite numerous attempt, and advise, this is what I applied. sudo cp /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/* /usr/share/sounds/ Type this: cd /dev ls -l |less find 14, [0-...] This file for audio you can type cat /etc/passwc >/dev/dsp dsp if speaker device This is not a big deal but I'm an OCD person, so I would like that it works. An other issue is the screensaver, I can not watch movies. I understand that Ubuntu default settings are "Turned off start up sound, and 10 min screensaver auto" If I would be allowed to a suggestions, it is the followings: Is that so problematic to create a check box to check or un check this futures, just to be able to enjoy your product fully? Furthermore I'm reading a lot of similar issues on blogs... Annoying

• Windows 8, IIS8 how to make PHP imagick work

  I'm new to IIS server before IIS for 6 years I used Apache 2.X and with Apache imageMagick and its PHP module imagick worked just fine even with x64 version of PHP and Apache 2.4 and imageMagick. I tried to make imagick to work with IIS8 but it wont work. I always get the typical PHP startup warning in my log PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\Program Files (x86)\iis express\PHP\v5.4\ext\php_imagick.dll' - %1 is not a valid Win32 application. in Unknown on line 0 And the next thing why is IIS loading php from IIS express folder if I have php in the program files? But actually I dont care until it works :) So what I did so far I unistalled imageMagick 6.7.X 64bit version and installed the latest x86 version, tested it in command line and it worked, than I looked up on net the latest imagick DLL which was I think the 3.1.0RC2 (founded here http://www.peewit.fr/imagick/) than I copied the dll to PHP's ext folder than edited php.ini and added the imagick to the dynamic extensions after that I restarted IIS and than nothing :( I got the error which I wrote earlier. Today I installed PEAR package Installer because I read somewhere that someone made it work with it but he also mentioned, that he needed to comply wincache too. Isn't there any easier solutions to make it work? Could someone maybe write me a step by step guide how to make this work.

• MySQL doesn't use index in join query

  I have two tables: comments(id(primary key), author, ip(index)) and visitors(id(primary key), date_time, ip(index)) I want to join them like that: SELECT visitors.date_time FROM comments LEFT JOIN visitors ON ( comments.ip = visitors.ip ) WHERE comments.author = 'author' LIMIT 10 It works, but very slow.. In EXPLAIN it shows that it doesn't use the index on the visitors table: id select_type table type possible_keys key key_len ref rows Extra 1 SIMPLE comments ref author author 78 const 9660 Using where 1 SIMPLE visitors ALL NULL NULL NULL NULL 8033 Any ideas? Thanks!
