  Hi All, Recently I went to an interview for a C development position. Instead of asking me questions, they just gave me 20 code snippets to find out two logical errors on each one. I just couldn't complete all of the 20 since it took me time to go through each of these code snippets. My question is: Is this the right way to judge a candidate? If yes, how can I improve over my error detection skills so that I don't need to waste a lot of time in the next interview? If possible, please, suggest me some links where I could find lots of samples of such questions (mainly in C). Thanks and regards, Maddy

• Read and write into a file using VBScript

  How can we read and write some string into a text file using VBScript? I mean I have a text file which is already present so when I use this code below:- Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject" ) Set file = fso.OpenTextFile("C:\New\maddy.txt",1,1) This opens the file only for reading but I am unable to write anything and when I use this code:- Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject" ) Set file = fso.OpenTextFile("C:\New\maddy.txt",2,1) I can just use this file for writing but unable to read anything. Is there anyway by which we can open the file for reading and writing by just calling the OpenTextFile method only once. I am really new to VBScript. I am only familiar with C concepts. Is there any link to really get me started with VBScript? I guess I need to have a good knowledge of the objects and properties concepts.

• Cruise control merging problem

  Hi all, I am using cruise control which generated a particular output which is in text file format.So with the help of nant i am copying this file to another .xml of the same name in some other folder structure and i am using the file merge task which merges this output with my log files.I am also able to see this output merged in my webdashboard.Now i want this same output i.e .xml to be attached in may mail too.So is there anyway i can get this done??At present i dont get anything attached in my mail i.e no errors or warnings attached. C : character; Char : character; type Myarr_Type is array (character range 'A'..'K') of character; Myarr : Myarr_Type := ('A','B','C','D','E','F','G','H','I','J','K'); Next_Address := Myarr'address Last_Address := Next_Address + Storage_Offset'(40); my_func(int P1,int P2) { return P2 + Storage_Offset'(4); } Last_Address := Next_Address + Storage_Offset'(4); Now my doubt is 1)what does P2 + Storage_Offset'(4) actually mean.Does that mean that its returning the address of the next element in the array which is 'B'.Storage_Offset'(4) in ada --does this mean 4 bits or 4 bytes of memory. 2) If i assume that Last_Address points to last element of the array which is 'K',how does the arithmentic Storage_Offset'(40) satisfies the actual implementation?   HI All, I have a piece of ada code shown below which is a simple switch case statements.Is there any better way to convert this into C. for I in 1..100 loop case I is when 100 => Dollars := Dollars + 1; when 25|50|75 => Quarters := Quarters + 1; when 10|20|30|40|60|70|80|90 => Dimes := Dimes + 1; when 5|15|35|45|55|65|85|95 => Nickles := Nickles + 1; when others => Pennies := Pennies + 1; end case; end loop; Now by adding the switch and the case for each values in the case,i can do that conversion,But it seems tyo make the code too big.Is there anywa other simple and compact way.Please get back to me if the question is not clear? • Cruise control.NET invoking an IDE

  Hi, I have an IDE named VxWorks 653 2.2.3 Development shell which needed to be invoked all the time when i notice any change in my source files.So i had invoked this shell through a VB scripts which invokes two more .bat(Batch files) to get this shell popped up for execution.Now i feel that since my IDE can be invoked by command line,it can also be invoked through nant scripts using the statement like D:\WindRiver\wrenv.exe -p vxworks653-2.2.3 But what i see is that its not at all invoking.I had tried all different ways but all turned out to be in vain. Can anyone pls suggest me any way either in nant scripts or in cruise control by which my IDE can be invoked.Now at present i am using VB scripts which is a very long proceess.   Hello all, I'm trying to load an aspx page using Iframe in VB.net. I'm trying to set the source of Iframe with the help of Ext (JavaScript). My aspx code: <div id="container"> < iframe id="pane" name="pane" src="Empty.aspx" frameborder="0" > </iframe> </div> My Javascript code: Pane = function() { var pane; return { init: function() { if (!document.body) { return; } pane = Ext.get('pane'); if ( something ) { this.load(); } else { this.navigateTo('Page.aspx?id=' + a.ID); } }, load: function() { pane.dom.src = 'HTTPURL'; }, navigateTo: function(url) { var agt = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase(); if (agt.indexOf("firefox") != -1) { document.getElementById('pane').src = url; } else { pane.dom.src = url; } } }; } (); This works fine with IE and Iframe gets loaded with page.aspx every time the parent page is requested. But with FireFox it doesn't. With FireFox the src attribute remains "Empty.aspx" when the page is loaded but when I refresh the page i.e. in post back event the src attribute changes to "page.aspx?id=a.id" and iframe gets loaded properly. Has anyone faced such kind of problem before? If you know the solution please help me, it's killing me big. Thanks in advance. Maddy.

  How do I prepare for the GRE Computer Science subject test? Are there any standard text books I should follow? Agree that its under graduation level and one doesn't need to dig to deep for it. I have done my computer engineering from a college who ranks in top 20 in India. So may be my curriculum has not been that good as compared to international students. Since now i want to get admission in to world renowned university's Ph. D. program. I want to enhance my basic skills up to a level to beat other international students in competition. I want to know good book references which are recommended by professors in international school like CMU, MIT, Standford etc. Like for Algorithms Coreman is considered very good. Good books builds concepts from very basic so that one doesn't need to mug up even a basic concepts. Coreman is just too good with good blend of Mathematics and programming concepts. Definitely Test paper are must but that can be practiced once one has read text books thoroughly. Besides its been 2 years i passed out from college so its is essential for me to revise all concepts from text books. Please tell me standard text books for each subject like Computer Architecture, Database Design, Operating Systems, Discrete Maths etc.
