  • Cron syntax with Java EE 5?

    - by marabol
Timer Tasks in Java EE are not very comfortable. Is there any util, to configure timer with cron syntax like "0 20 20 * * "? I wonder, if it would be a good way to use Quartzinside (clustered) JEE application. According to http://www.prozesse-und-systeme.de/serverClustering.html (german page) there limits with Quartz and Java EE clustering: JDBC must be used as job store for Quartz Only cluster associated Quartz instances are allowed to use this JDBC job store All cluster nodes must be synchronized to the split second All cluster nodes must use the same quartz.properties file I would prefer an easier way for configuration of timer service, instead an not Java EE managed scheduler.

  • How do you unit test JEE code?

    - by marabol
I want to ask for your prefered way to test JEE code? I found only three project, that are trying to help to code unit tests in JEE environment: http://jakarta.apache.org/cactus/ : Last Published: 2009-01-18 http://www.junitee.org/ : Last Release: 2004-12-11 http://ejb3unit.sourceforge.net/ : Last Release: 2008-05-17 So I wonder, is there any framework helping to write (j) unit test for JEE code? do you use embedded JEE servers like jboss or glassfish v3? do you mockup and inject by yourself? Thanks a lot...

  • Has glassfish 2.1.1 a bug handling http request and handle them twice?

    - by marabol
I'm using glassfish 2.1.1. I've watched a mysterious http/webservice-call handling. It seams an http request is handled by two different threads. After http basic authentication the first thread is faster. Persisting some data end, but writing response fails in glassfish internal. The second thread fails, because it tries to persist identical data and there are (unique) constrain failures. The response (the failure) of second thread was delivered to client. I don't won't discuss the behavior with the unique constrain failure. I've improve the webservice, so it can handle this better, because it could be happen anytime, that the client send the ws call a second time. But I think, glassfish 2.1.1 has an bug handling http request. Is there any known issue? Have I done an mistake? • Maven: How to create assembly with snapshot artifacts without timestamps file name?

    - by marabol
I've a repository containing snapshot artifacts with timestamps. I want to create an assembly, that contains the dependencies. This works fine. But the artifact names contains the timestamp. So i wonder how to remove the timestamp from filename for the assembly only. I've used this dependencySet: <outputFileNameMapping>${artifact.artifactId}-${artifact.version}.${artifact.extension}</outputFileNameMapping> But version seams to contain already the timestamp. So is there any chance to get a 1.1.1-SNAPSHOT instead of 1.1.1-20100323.071348-182?

  • Defines JEE 5 the handling of commit error using bean managed transactions?

    - by marabol
I'm using glassfish 2.1 and 2.1.1. If I've a bean method annotated by @TransactionAttribute(value = TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW). After doing some JPA stuff the commit fails in the afterCompletion-Phase of JTS. GlassFish logs this failure only. And the caller of this bean method has no chance to know something goes wrong. So I wonder, if there is any definition how a jee 5 server has to handle exceptions while commiting. I would expect any runtime exception. I'm using stateless beans. With SessionSynchronisation I could get the commit failue, if I use statefull beans. Is it possible to intercept, so I can throw an exception, that I've declared in my interface? This is the whole exception stacktrace: • Which JMS broker implementations allowing resending messages saved in dead message queue?

    - by marabol
I wonder, if there JMS broker, that allows administrators to resend (via GUI or any tool) messages, saved in a ded message queue or dead letter queue, after solving the causing problem (e.g. database is down, not enough space...). WebSphere provide a feature to resend messages saved in dead letter queue: 1 Glassfish 2.1.1 using Sun Java System Message Queue 4.4 has no feature to do this, I think so. What are the options on other JMS brokers? Or is the best way, not to use the DMQ/DLQ feature, if you are depend on a message? Thanks a lot
