• 12.04 Black screen with blinking cursor

  I have read this post My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it? UBUNTU 12.04 works well with livecd but fails to start after complete installation, black screen with a blinking cursor. I tried holding shift key and edit grub options but holding shift did not do anything. I give up, any suggestion. I have built in intel graphics card and an nvidia card in PCI. I have tried by removing nvidia card as well. All I see is a black screen with a blinking cursor. My system is Dell optiplex GX260 with 1GB ram and 2.4 GHz P4 processor

• Cannot make Wi-Fi hotspot

  I want to make my laptop as wi-fi hotspot. To do so, I pressed button Settings-Network-Wireless-Use as Hotspot.. Then it creates a wireless network connection 'Hostspot' and connects. But it gets disconnected just after making connection.   here is my scenario i have a website where i redirect my users basing upon the device they were using, lets say a user is visiting from an iPad, i take him directly to the page of iPad wallpapers, the user selects iPad version & i take the user to the gallery of wallpapers where the user can select & download any wallpaper. Every wallpaper is the required resolution, i have my reasons for doing this, now the thing is there are diff. resolution. versions of an image appearing one 5 diff. sections of my website, each having their own view page Now there is only one record in db.table for the image, and basing on the my consistent naming convention of the images, i pick the required image. this means when 5 different pages are generated in 5 categorized sections of the website, due to a shared DB record, the keywords, the titles and every single detail of the 5 pages is same besides the resolution of the image, and the section specific details that the page has and yeah the pages also have different paths like wallpapers.com\ipad-1\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-2\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-3\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-4\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-5\cars\Ferrari-dino.html now this is my scenario, How do Search Engines see it and how do they rank it?   I am working on PHP and MySQL based web application for more than 5 years now. I started my career from Intern - Jr Developer - Software Developer - Sr. Software Engineer [Team Lead] that's what I am nowadays. I was looking at the link at Wikipedia regarding who is a lead programmer. The link states the following: A lead programmer is a software engineer in charge of one or more software projects. Alternative titles include Development Lead, Technical Lead, Senior Software Engineer, Software Design Engineer Lead (SDE Lead), Software Manager, or Senior Applications Developer. When primarily contributing in a high-level enterprise software design role, the title Software Architect (or similar) is often used. All of these titles can have different meanings depending on the context. My current job responsibilities are more or less like a Development Lead and to some extent near Software Architect because I usually design the core structure of new products and managing 2-3 project simultaneously and in the meantime involved in assisting other teams regarding the structural design of their projects, I am usually on call with clients along with project managers, I code most of the time when my team stuck somewhere / workload / integrating some third party API and etc. Primary reason of this writing is to know if I qualify for a Development Lead Title? in accordance with my above mentioned job descriptions?

I will ask my developer to make my website as fast as it can be with as much as possible, minimum AWS utilization. My webstore will have <1000 SKUs and I'm not expecting the traffic without going into thorough SEO/PPC. Now I have three questions: Do I really need Nginx microcaching along with eaccelerator? Do I need AWS Elastic Load Balancer with t1.micro tier for the sake of scalability (as I have heard that magento is resource hungry application, may fully utilize t1.micro AMI) or can I replace AWS ELB with Nginx load balancer?   i have some folders in C drive on which i work on daily basis and the data in them is very critical.. so every night when i shutdown my PC i copy - paste - overwrite existing files these folders to a separate location... so that of the system crashed or something bad happens.. i will be able to easily format C and all i cannot move these folders from C drive because these folders include C:\wamp\www\ of WAMP server and such folders... is there a tool on which i can schedule that everyday at X time these folders will be backuped to 'Y' path

• Unable to resolve user environment variable correctly

  I am trying to resolve %USERPROFILE% using WScript.Shell. When I create a vbs file and run directly from Windows, I get the correct path for the logged-in user C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator but it gets resolved to C:\Documents and Settings\Default User instead of logged-in user when I used it inside my classic ASP webapp running on the local machine on IIS.   While trying to install deluge 1.3.3 (I need this specific version) I get an error. I install all the needed packages through sudo apt-get install g++ make python-all-dev python-all python-dbus \ python-gtk2 python-notify librsvg2-common python-xdg python-support \ subversion libboost-dev libboost-python-dev \ libboost-thread-dev libboost-date-time-dev libboost-filesystem-dev \ libssl-dev zlib1g-dev python-setuptools \ python-mako python-twisted-web python-chardet python-simplejson I then build it $ python setup.py build and $ sudo python setup.py install then I get a long list at the end of which there is the error /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lboost_iostreams collect2: ld returned 1 exit status error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 Can you help me out with this?

  I am a Java/Java EE Developer with about 3 years in this field. I like low-level programming so much... I favor back-end code over front-end. I've a knowledge in C and know little about C++. I got an offer to work with C in Point-of-Sale Payment terminals. I don't know much about how POS works (IDE/toolsets, etc). although I have a payment experience (ISO8583, etc...) I need you own opinion from Switching from the Java's High-level world to POS low-level world Although I love low-level world, but I am afraid from not being found what I seek.. I know programmers are not measured by the tools they use (including prog. langs.) but with their minds. I need your opinions of: Is programming POS terminals in C is an interesting thing, or I'll find myself doing usual code-writing job? (especially I am about to switch my whole career path). I find myself writing an elegant code in Java (like: Sobat http://code.google.com/p/sobat/) a code where I find myself in... So do I'll find the same thing in POS C? or It will all about Libraries that I'll call to finish my work?! Lastly, does this thing worse adventure with my current career (stability, conference, etc.. )? (as I currently don't think to move to a new job) Thanks.

  In Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I installed the Eclipse CDT plugin and opened the new hello world project to just test everything out. When I was creating the project, I chose the only toolchain: "Linux GCC" When the project is created, however, it says that #include<iostream> #include<cstdlb> are unresolved. Thus, lines with cout and endl can't be used and it cannot find std. using namespace std; is also causing problems. How can I get my #include directives for standard library headers recognized, to support code using the std namespace?

• Still no keyboard after uninstalling Ubuntu

  I installed Ubuntu 11.04 for the first time yesterday. After rebooting for the first time, I couldn't log in because I couldn't type anything using the keyboard. After rebooting, the keyboard failed completely; I can only automatically boot into Windows since I can't choose Ubuntu. Then the problem got worse. I had to use On-Screen keyboard to log in into Windows. Still no keyboard. When I rebooted, my laptop couldn't reboot at all! I had to hard reboot. I decided to uninstall the Ubuntu, using the Add/Remove program in the Control Panel. I uninstalled it successfully. My laptop automatically boots into Windows without Ubuntu option. • I'm building a theme for tumblr and the {HasPages} doesn't seem to work properly.

  I've put the HTML draft of the theme so far, with minor CSS edits. Currently I have all the block posts and everything else that's essential to a tumblr theme but I can't seem to get the {HasPages} block to work properly. I've tested it on a different tumblr, also. There are pages created and I already have provided some basic CSS for it just in case. But there isn't anything showing up. Has anyone has this problem and if so, is there a solution I'm missing?   I have created a blog on blogger few days ago and created two blog entries on it. when i try creating AdSense account with blog's address it does not accept the application due to PageType. i have searched around on the net and found that its probably due to duplicate or insufficient content on the blog but either of my blog entry is more than 2,000 words and i have literally typed 80 percent of its content with only few code blocks copied from other sites.
