• Which is the best method to install/uninstall apps in Ubuntu?

  While apps can be installed with the apt-get command, Synaptic Package Manager or Ubuntu Software Centre, can anybody throw some light on which is the best method? I recently installed kubuntu-desktop and as a result even Ubuntu Software Centre showed that it was installed. When I tried uninstalling it with Ubuntu Software Centre, the package didn't actually uninstall until I used Synaptic once again.

  I have a Java Web application and I have a VPS hosting bought from Hostgator in which recently the tomcat has been installed. But I couldn't find a way to deploy my application and I talked with more than 3 Hostgator technical agents and none of them know how to deploy the Java application in tomcat in Hostgator server and they say they don't give support for hosting Java application. Does anyone have deployed any Java application in hostgator server? If you know please help me to host my application.

• how to send the value of "text box" even if it is grayed out/disabled in HTML?

  I m doing like this in java script : document.getElementById(XYZ).value = '32768'; document.getElementById(ABC).value = '32768 '; document.getElementById(XYZ).disabled = true; document.getElementById(ABC).disabled = true; when i m pressing submit it gives "0" as value. BUT i want to retrieve above values. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ readOnly is an option but it changes the FONT COLOUR from gray to black, but i want gray colored text in readOnly textbox any help!!!! thanx !!!
