• How to get musicbrainz track information from audio file

  Can anyone tell me how to get track information from the MusicBrainz database from an audio file (mp3, wav, wma, ogg, etc...) using audio fingerprinting. I'm using MusicBrainz Sharp library, but any other library is ok. I've seen that you must use the libofa library, that you can't use MusicBrainz Sharp to get puid from the audio file, but I can't figure out how to use libofa with C#. Please show some examples and code snippets to help me, because I can't find them anywhere. Thanks in advance!

  Over the years, some of us accumulate lots and lots of music files. Since these come from a variety of sources, they’re not always as neat as they could be. If your music library is in a bit of a jumble with tags missing, oddly named files and incomplete albums, read on to see how easy it is to make it neat once and for all. MusicBrainz is an online database that uses audio “fingerprints” to identify music tracks even when they’re incorrectly labelled. We’ll be using this database through a free client called Picard, available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. So first thing, head on over to Picard’s download page and get the installer. If you use Linux, you can install Picard using your package manager. Once you finish going through the installer, run Picard. Your firewall might pop up an alert telling you Picard is trying to access the Internet; you should agree to let Picard through. You will now see the main Picard interface. • Cannot connect to Musicbrainz VirtualBox through SSH using Mac

  I am trying to connect my mac terminal shell to a VirtualBox running the Musicbrainz server. I have configured the network through a BridgeAdapter and running ifconfig on both the host and the guest show corresponding IP addresses. I can now ping the guest, but I cannot connect through SSH. • Alternatives to musicbrainz picard -audio-fingerprinting tagging services [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Auto-tagging MP3s I'm currently using musicbranz picard to tag files that don't have any usable tagging information. For some reason, currently none of the files I trying to ID seem to be identified, despite some of them them being artists who are almost certainly on musicbrainz. So, I'm looking for something that uses an alternate database and does the same thing - to identify unknown music files off an audio fingerprint. Windows is preferred, but I would be fine with any of the big 3 OSes (Windows/Linux/OS X).

  From the MusicBrainz REST service, I get the following xml: <artist-list offset="0" count="59"> <artist type="Person" id="xxxxx" ext:score="100"> ... Using WCF and XmlSerializationFormat, I'm able to get the type and id attributes... but How do I get the "ext:score" one? This works: public class Artist { [XmlAttribute("id")] public string ID { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("type")] public ArtistType Type { get; set; } But this doesnt: [XmlAttribute("ext:score")] public string Score { get; set; } It produces a serialization exception. I've also tried just using "score", but it doesn't work. Any help?

• Automatically convert audio files in a certain folder

  Anyone know of an application that automatically* converts audio files in a certain folder from one format to another? *By automatically, I mean that there is no user interaction besides initial setup and dropping files into a certain folder. So, basically, I could rip a CD to a certain directory in FLAC format, then this app would see that new files were added to the folder and convert them to MP3s (into another folder, preferably). (It would also be great if the app integrated with MusicBrainz's Picard to rename and re-tag files that are incorrect before sending them to the converter, but that's just icing on the top.)

• Download lastfm tags into mp3 comment or genre tag

  for a long time I dream to have a songs lastfm tags in my music library, so I can use them to quickly generate playlists. There used to be a way to do that in amarok 1.4, but it never was stable. Than there is MusicBrainz Picard's lastfm/lastfmplus plugin. It is partially fine, but I cannot manage to make it look ONLY for the lastfm tags and put them into comments/genre/whatever but it always hast to tag everything. And it isn't particularly good with it, especially with small bands, songs without album etc. My music library is rather well organised. Most of the tags are correct. I also have quite some songs without an album. And I don't want it to find the albums for those songs, since it'd mess up my album view. So it must not touch the fields track name, track number, artist and album. All I want is that the most popular lastfm tags get into the genre or comments tag of the mp3, separated by semicolons, commas or whatever. I think I remember a script that did this job, but I cannot find. Does anybody know if there is anything like this? Would it be to hard to write this, for example as Banshee plugin? Thank you

• How to get iTunes to recognize that certain ID3 tags have been removed from files?

  I use MusicBrainz Picard to manage the ID3 tags on my MP3 collection and iTunes for playing them and managing my iPod. I have Picard set to remove the Composer tag from any files that don't also contain the word "Classical" in the Genre tag. I've run Picard and it has removed the Composer tag from many of my files. However, iTunes keeps displaying the old value of the Composer field. I have tried right-clicking on the file to update, choosing "Get Info" and clicking OK. This has no effect on the Composer field when it has been removed entirely; it only refreshes the displayed value when it has been changed from one non-empty value to another. How can I get iTunes to stop showing the old values for tags that have been removed? Please note I don't want to lose other iTunes metadata such as ratings and play counts, so removing the files from the iTunes library and re-adding them is not an option.

  Hey I am looking for theory, algorithms and similar for how to compare music. More specifically, I am looking into how to dupecheck music tracks that have different bitrates or perhaps slightly different variations (radio vs album version), but otherwise sound the same. Use cases for this include services such as Grooveshark, Youtube, etc. where they get a lot of duplicate tracks. I am also interested in text comparisons (Britney Spers vs Britney Spears, how far they deviate, etc.) although this is secondary and I already have some sources to go on in this area. I am mostly interested in codec-agnostic comparison techniques and algoritms (assuming a "raw" stream), but codec-specific resources are appreciated. I am aware of projects such as musicbrainz.org, but have not investigated it further, and would be interested if such projects could be of help in this endeavor.

• Incomplete upgrade 12.04 to 12.10

There certainly has to be another way to do this with a single query. I'm currently out of ideas though. Could I somehow force MySQL into using another (better) query plan?
