  • Show a taskbar item with a NativeWindow

    - by David Brown
My application is intended to work almost entirely through a Windows 7 taskbar item with the use of thumbnails and jump lists. I know I can easily create a Form and simply hide it, but this seems like overkill. Plus, I'd like to toy around with NativeWindow as much as possible, because I've never used it before. Essentially, I have a class called RootWindow that derives from NativeWindow. I don't need a visible window at all, but simply something to process window messages and provide a taskbar item that I can attach thumbnails and jump lists to. Is there some kind of special CreateParams option I need to pass to CreateHandle? Or am I out of luck?

  • NativeWindow WndProc not receiving messages

    - by BadNinja
    Could someone shed some light on why my WndProc method as implemented below isn't receiving any messages? If I put this class below in a WinForms application and pass in that application's handle, WndProc receives messages as I would expect. However, using the IntPtr returned from GetForegroundWindow() as I have below doesn't yield the same results. (FWIW, I have my code set up to execute GetForegroundWindow() when my application is hidden, so I'm certain that the IntPtr is referring to an outside application.) public class MyNativeWindow : NativeWindow { [DllImport("user32.dll", ExactSpelling = true, SetLastError = true)] private static extern IntPtr GetForegroundWindow(); public MyNativeWindow() { this.AssignHandle(GetForegroundWindow()); } // Never called... I set a breakpoint [System.Security.Permissions.PermissionSet(System.Security.Permissions.SecurityAction.Demand, Name = "FullTrust")] protected override void WndProc(ref Message m) { base.WndProc(ref m); } }

  • Accessing contents of NativeWindow in a HTML AIR application?

    - by Dan Scotton
I'm currently building a HTML/JS AIR application. The application needs to display to the user a different 'window' - dependant on whether this is the first time they've launched the application or not. This part is actually fine and I have the code below to do that: if(!startUp()) { // this simply returns a boolean from a local preferences database that gets shipped with the .air // do first time stuff var windowOptions = new air.NativeWindowInitOptions(); windowOptions.systemChrome = 'none'; windowOptions.type = 'lightweight'; windowOptions.transparent = 'true'; windowOptions.resizable = 'false'; var windowBounds = new air.Rectangle(300, 300, 596, 490); var newHtmlLoader = air.HTMLLoader.createRootWindow(true, windowOptions, true, windowBounds); newHtmlLoader.load(new air.URLRequest('cover.html')); } else { // display default window // just set nativeWindow.visible = true (loaded from application.xml) } However, what I want to be able to do is manipulate the html content from within cover.html after it has loaded up. There seems to be plenty of tutorials online of how to move, resize, etc. the NativeWindow, but I simply want access to the NativeWindow's HTML content. For example, how would I add a new paragraph to that page? I've tried the following: newHtmlLoader.window.opener = window; var doc = newHtmlLoader.window.opener.document.documentElement; Using AIR's Introspector console, ....log(doc) returns [object HTMLHtmlElement]. Hmm, seems promising right? I then go on to try: var p = document.createElement('p'); var t = document.createTextNode('Insert Me'); p.appendChild(t); doc.appendChild(p); ...but nothing gets inserted. I've also tried the following replacements for doc: var doc = newHtmlLoader.window.opener.document.body; // .log(doc) -> [object HTMLBodyElement] var doc = newHtmlLoader.window.opener.document; // .log(doc) -> Error: HIERARCHY_REQUEST_ERR: DOM Exception 3 ...as well as the following with jQuery: $(doc).append('<p>Insert Me</p>'); // again, nothing So, anyone had any experience in accessing a NativeWindow's inner content programmatically? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • how to keep a nativewindow on top

    - by Freddy Rios
I need to keep a NativeWindow I am creating on top of the main window of the application. Currently I am using alwaysInFront = true, which is not limited to the windows in the application. I can successfully synchronize the minimize/restore/move/resize actions, so the top window behaves appropriately in those cases. Even though using this option has the drawback that if I alt-tab to other application the window goes on top of the other application. Because of the above I am trying to get it to work without using the alwaysInFront. I have tried using orderInFrontOf and orderToFront, which gets it in place but when I click an area in the main window the top one becomes hidden i.e. air makes it the top one. I have tried capturing activate/deactivate events but it only happens on the first click, so on the second click the top window becomes hidden again. I also tried making the top window active when the main one becomes active, but that causes the main one to loose focus and I can't click on anything. Ps. I am doing this to improve the behavior of a HTMLOverlay I am using - see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1044927/flex-air-htmlloader-blank-pop-up-window-when-flash-content-is-loaded/1077738#1077738

  • How do I get a window caption?

    - by P.Brian.Mackey
    I would like to get a Window Caption as given by spy++ (highlighted in red) I have code to do this (or so I thought)...but it seems to work pretty awful....in some cases 1% of the time... public delegate bool EnumDelegate(IntPtr hWnd, int lParam); [DllImport("user32.dll")] [return: MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.Bool)] static extern bool IsWindowVisible(IntPtr hWnd); [DllImport("user32.dll", EntryPoint = "GetWindowText", ExactSpelling = false, CharSet = CharSet.Auto, SetLastError = true)] static extern int GetWindowText(IntPtr hWnd, StringBuilder lpWindowText, int nMaxCount); [DllImport("user32.dll", EntryPoint = "EnumDesktopWindows", ExactSpelling = false, CharSet = CharSet.Auto, SetLastError = true)] static extern bool EnumDesktopWindows(IntPtr hDesktop, EnumDelegate lpEnumCallbackFunction, IntPtr lParam); static List<NativeWindow> collection = new List<NativeWindow>(); public static NativeWindow GetAppNativeMainWindow() { GetNativeWindowHelper.EnumDelegate filter = delegate(IntPtr hWnd, int lParam) { StringBuilder strbTitle = new StringBuilder(255); int nLength = GetNativeWindowHelper.GetWindowText(hWnd, strbTitle, strbTitle.Capacity + 1); string strTitle = strbTitle.ToString(); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(strTitle)) { if (strTitle.ToLower().StartsWith("window title | my application")) { NativeWindow window = new NativeWindow(); window.AssignHandle(hWnd); collection.Add(window); return false;//stop enumerating } } return true;//continue enumerating }; GetNativeWindowHelper.EnumDesktopWindows(IntPtr.Zero, filter, IntPtr.Zero); if (collection.Count != 1) { //log error ReleaseWindow(); return null; } else return collection[0]; } public static void ReleaseWindow() { foreach (var item in collection) { item.ReleaseHandle(); } }

  • How do I load SciLexer.dll in Visual Studio 2008 Designer, on Windows 7 64-bit?

    - by Filini
We develop a WinForm application using Scintilla.NET (1.7) component, which uses SciLexer.dll (unamnaged). At run-time, we distribute both 32bit and 64bit SciLexer.dll, and we load the correct one when the application starts (everything works fine). On our new development environments (Windows 7 64-bit), all our solutions build and run just fine, but the WinForm visual designer does not load our forms/controls which use Scintilla.NET, because it cannot load the correct SciLexer.dll: Window class name is not valid. at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.WindowClass.RegisterClass() at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.WindowClass.Create(String className, Int32 classStyle) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.CreateHandle(CreateParams cp) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateHandle() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.get_Handle() at Scintilla.ScintillaControl.SendMessageDirect(UInt32 msg, IntPtr wParam, IntPtr lParam) at Scintilla.ScintillaControl.SendMessageDirect(UInt32 msg) at Scintilla.ScintillaControl.get_CodePage() at Scintilla.ScintillaControl..ctor(String sciLexerDllName) at Scintilla.ScintillaControl..ctor() Where does Visual Studio 2008 look for unmanaged libraries? I tried putting the 64-bit SciLexer.dll in SysWOW64, in the folder where ScintillaNET.dll is referenced, adding a folder in PATH system variable, adding a folder reference in the project, but I keep getting this error. Any help is appreciated.

  • Access WindowedApplication from package class.

  • Illegal cross thread operation exception, unable to handle it

    - by yeah1000
Hello, i am using visual C# express 2008. I SOMETIMES get the illegal cross thread operation in my invoke method when i try to run my project. It use the same invoke method in many places but its only at the beginning of another thread that i get the error. I check the InvokeRequired property, invoke the same method and in the 'else' condition and create a temporary variable and assign it the text of my control. But on that line, in the 'else' statement, inside the Invoking method i sometimes get the exception. What could be the cause? How to get rid of it? It does not occur often, but it is still a bug... Code: // Delegate: private delegate void ChangeTextDelegate(string text); // Method: public static void ChangeText(string text) { if (richtextbox1.InvokeRequired) { richtextbox1.Invoke(new ChangeTextDelegate(ChangeText), new object[] { text }); } else { int startIndex; startIndex = richtextbox1.TextLength; // <- Exception points here. // ... } } Stack trace: System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled Message="Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'SomeClass' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." • Resize AIR app window while dragging

    - by matt lohkamp
So I've noticed Windows 7 has a disturbing tendency to prevent you from dragging the title bar of windows off the top of the screen. If you try - in this case, using an air app with a draggable area at the bottom of the window, allowing you to push the top of the window up past the screen - it just kicks the window back down far enough that the title bar is at the top of what it considers the 'visible area.' One solution would be to resize the app window as it moves, so that the title bar is always where windows wants it. How would you resize the window while you're dragging it, though? Would you do it like this? dragHitArea.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, function(e:MouseEvent):void{ stage.nativeWindow.height += 50; stage.nativeWindow.startMove(); stage.nativeWindow.height -= 50; }); see what's going on there? When I click, I'm doing startMove(), which is hooking into the OS' function for dragging a window around. I'm also increasing and decreasing the height of the window by 50 pixels - which should give me no net increase, right? Wrong - the first '.height +=' gets executed, but the '.height -=' after the .startMove() never runs. Why? update - If you're curious, I'm programming an air widget with fly-out menus which expand rightwards and upwards - and since those element can only be displayed within the boundaries of the application window itself (even though the window is set to be chromeless and transparent) I have to expand the application's borders to include the area that the menu 'pops up' into. In the extreme case, with the widget positioned bottom left, and the menus expanded completely across to the right side and top edge of the screen, the application area could very well cover the entire desktop. The problem is, when it's expanded like this, if the user drags it up and to the right, it causes the 'title bar' area of the application window to move above the top edge of the desktop area, where it would normally be unreachable; and Windows automatically re-positions the window back below that edge once the .startMove() operation is completed. So what I want to do is continually resize the height of the application so that the visual effect will be the same for the user, but for the benefit of the operating system the window's title bar will never be above that top boundary of the desktop area.

  • Winforms: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt

    - by mamcx
I have a bunch of background events. All of them call a log: private void log(string text, params object[] values) { if (editLog.InvokeRequired) { editLog.BeginInvoke( (MethodInvoker)delegate { this.log(text, values); }); } else { text = string.Format(text, values) + Environment.NewLine; lock (editLog) { editLog.AppendText(text); editLog.SelectionStart = editLog.TextLength; editLog.ScrollToCaret(); } } } Sometimes I get this, but other times not: System.AccessViolationException was unhandled Message=Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. Source=System.Windows.Forms StackTrace: at System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.CallWindowProc(IntPtr wndProc, IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wParam, IntPtr lParam) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.DefWndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.DebuggableCallback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) at System.Windows.Forms.UnsafeNativeMethods.SendMessage(HandleRef hWnd, Int32 msg, Int32 wParam, Object& editOle) at System.Windows.Forms.TextBoxBase.ScrollToCaret() at Program1.frmMain.log(String text, Object[] values) in ... ... ... P.D: Not always stop at this line, randomly will be one of the three times editLog methods/properties are used. Not always a exception is throw. Sometimes look like the thing freeze. But not the main UI, just the flow of messages (ie: log look like is never called again) The app is a single form, with background process. I can't see what I doing wrong with this...

  • AccessViolationException from a combo: Attempted to read or write protected memory

    - by Sparky
Users are occassionally getting the above error when using our application (VB.Net, Winforms, using v2 of the framework). I'm not able to reproduce it. The callstack is as follows: : System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. Any clues as to what causes this would be muchly appreciated! :-)

  • JOGL: cannot run java on compiled class file

    - by John Goche
I am running ubuntu Linux 11.10. I have followed the instructions on the site http://jogamp.org/jogl/www/ and downloaded everything with git to $HOME/jogamp and built everything with ant (although I would have prefered the files installed somewhere under /usr/local). I am trying to run a simple application with JOGL found on the Wikipedia site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_OpenGL In order to compile the file I had to add: export CLASSPATH.:$HOME/jogamp/jogl/build/jogl/classes in order to compile the code. When I run java I get the following: $ java JOGLQuad Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/media/nativewindow /WindowClosingProtocol at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClassCond(ClassLoader.java:631) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:615) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(SecureClassLoader.java:141) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(URLClassLoader.java:283) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$000(URLClassLoader.java:58) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:197) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:247) Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.media.nativewindow.WindowClosingProtocol at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:247) ... 12 more Could not find the main class: JOGLQuad. • Trapping messages in .NET

    - by user350632
How can i trap a Windows system message (like WM_SETTEXT) that was sent by some window (VLC player window in my case)? I've tried to inherit NativeWindow class and override WndProc like this: class VLCFilter : NativeWindow { System.IntPtr iHandle; const int WM_SETTEXT = 0x000C; public VLCFilter() { Process p = Process.GetProcessesByName("vlc")[0]; iHandle = p.MainWindowHandle; } protected override void WndProc(ref Message aMessage) { base.WndProc(ref aMessage); if (aMessage.HWnd != iHandle) return false; if (aMessage.Msg == WM_SETTEXT) { MessageBox.Show("VLC window text changed!"); } } } I have checked with Microsoft Spy++ that WM_SETTEXT message is sent by VLC player but my code doesn't seem to get the work done. I've refered mainly to: http://www.codeproject.com/kb/dotnet/devicevolumemonitor.aspx I'm trying to make this work for some time with no success. What am I doing wrong? What I am not doing? Maybe there is easier way to do this? My initial goal is to catch when VLC player (that could be playing somewhere in the background and is not emmbed in my application) repeats its playback (have noticed that WM_SETTEXT message is sent then and I'm trying to find it out like this).

My class library is compiled against .NET 2.0 and works just fine whenever I try to load it as a plugin under the 2.0 runtime. If however the master application is running the .NET 4.0 runtime, I get an exception as soon as the resources need to be accessed: Exception occurred during processing of command: Grasshopper Plug-in = Grasshopper Could not find file 'Grasshopper.resources'. Stack trace: at UnhandledExceptionLogger.UnhandledThreadException(Object sender, ThreadExceptionEventArgs args) at System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadContext.OnThreadException(Exception t) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProcException(Exception e) at System.Windows.Forms.ControlNativeWindow.OnThreadException(Exception e) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) at System.Windows.Forms.SafeNativeMethods.ShowWindow(Handle Ref hWnd, Int32 nCmdShow) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.SetVisibleCore(Boolean value) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.SetVisibleCore(Boolean value) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.Show(IWin32Window owner) .... What's going on and how do I make my project load on all .NET Runtimes?

  • What Windows message is fired for mouse-up with modifier keys?

    - by Greg
My WndProc isn't seeing mouse-up notifications when I click with a modifier key (shift or control) pressed. I see them without the modifier key, and I see mouse-down notifications with the modifier keys. I'm using the Windows Forms NativeWindow wrapper to get Windows messages from the WndProc() method. I've tried tracking the notifications I do get, and I the only clue I see is WM_CAPTURECHANGED. I've tried calling SetCapture when I receive the WM_LBUTTONDOWN message, but it doesn't help. Without modifier (skipping paint, timer and NCHITTEST messages): WM_LBUTTONDOWN WM_SETCURSOR WM_MOUSEMOVE WM_SETCURSOR WM_LBUTTONUP With modifier (skipping paint, timer and NCHITTEST messages): WM_KEYDOWN WM_PARENTNOTIFY WM_MOUSEACTIVATE WM_MOUSEACTIVATE WM_SETCURSOR WM_LBUTTONDOWN WM_SETCURSOR (repeats) WM_KEYDOWN (repeats) WM_KEYUP If I hold the mouse button down for a long time, I can usually get a WM_LBUTTONUP notification, but it should be possible to make it more responsive.. What am I missing? Thanks.

  • How do I play a video through .net in windows 7

    - by Mykroft
I had setup an app to play a video using the library suggested here this worked great for me for a long time until my machine was upgraded. In windows 7 I get the following exception that I'd never seen under XP: `System.BadImageFormatException: is not a valid Win32 application. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700C1) at MainApp.Controls.MediaControl.StopVideo() at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WmClose(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)` I've installed the June 2010 DirectX SDK and I'm still getting this error. Is there a different library I should be using or some setting that needs to be changed?

  • Windows Azure Directory Sync Generic Failure

    - by Armand
Ok so I have a domain that I want to sync to Office365 but when I start the Windows Azure Active Directory Sync tool Configuration Wizard I get an error with the following details: System.Management.ManagementException: Generic failure at System.Management.ManagementException.ThrowWithExtendedInfo(ManagementStatus errorCode) at System.Management.ManagementObjectCollection.ManagementObjectEnumerator.MoveNext() at Microsoft.Online.DirSync.Common.MiisAction.GetTargetMA() at Microsoft.Online.DirSync.Common.MiisAction.IsSyncInProgress() at Microsoft.Online.DirSync.Common.PrerequisiteChecks.ThrowIfSyncInProgress() at Microsoft.Online.DirSync.UI.IntroductionWizardPage.PrerequisiteValidation() at Microsoft.Online.DirSync.UI.IntroductionWizardPage.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmShowWindow(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) I have searched far and wide to no avail, this happens before I can even enter any details. A few notes: The server is not the domain controller Sharepoint 2013 is installed on this server The account I log in with and run the application with is a domain and enterprise admin I right click and run as administrator when I start the application So when I click continue on the error and go through the steps I get two possible scenarios that change from time to time at now predictable rate: 1) I just get an error, generic failure. 2) I get an error "Cannot start service MSOnlineSyncScheduler on computer '.'." Any help?
