• Can I reuse my nameservers from one domain registrar with another?

  My regular domain is one I got from GoDaddy. Just recently, I registered a short .cr domain (Costa Rica) in http://www.nic.cr/ . During registration, they asked for nameservers (and just nameservers), so I thought of reusing my GoDaddy nameservers. I kinda thought it would just be a straight-forward mapping, but nothing's happening, though. What am I missing here? (There is an option to use their own nameservers, but I just wanted to explore this option. If there's nothing to be had here, I'll fall back to using theirs.)

• ffmpeg unmet dependencies

  I faced an issue recently when tried to install ffmpeg on my Ubuntu computer. I am running Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit, all latest updates are installed and system runs perfectly, however i feel need in recording my desktop and have read many articles that ffmpeg is one of the best recording tools for it (besides providing packages for video) So I tried to run sudo apt-get install ffmpeg However i wasn't able to do this because packages have unmet dependencies. • Grub-Efi wrong resolution

  My question, as it comes from the title, related to grub, but it's a different thing. I re-installed Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10 in UEFI mode (before that I was using normal BIOS) and everything went perfectly fine. Both systems load as they should but there is one thing that keeps bothering me. The problem is before I installed both systems in UEFI I used to boot in both system using common grub (non-uefi) and resolution in this grub was correct (which is 1366x768). Right now with grub-efi I have wrong resolution (which is seems to be 640x480). So my question is can can I safely set grub-resolution using grub config files or issue is related to something else? (for instance graphics card). I am using Ubuntu 12.10 Intel HD 3000 + Nvidia GT 540M Optimus (I am using bumblebee) Kernel 3.5.0-19-generic all updates installed! I also added ubuntu x-swat ppa for drivers. Thank you for your help!

• New file in ubuntu kernel ppa repository to install?

  Googling this question hasn't brought me to anything so I decided to ask here. Recently I noticed on kernel.org that kernel 3.7 finally considered to be a stable so I decided to upgrade, since I am on 3.7 RC7 but when I opened http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.7.1-raring/ I noticed new file (actually 2 which seems to be identical) linux-headers-3.7.1-030701-omap_3.7.1-030701.201212171620_armhf.deb and linux-image-3.7.1-030701-omap_3.7.1-030701.201212171620_armhf.deb so my question is should I install those as well or continue installing only 4 files (e.g. 3 AMD64 image and headers + all headers)? • Windows Audio Issue

  This one is driving me nuts. Hoping someone can shed some light. I'm running windows 7 using onboard audio. It's been fine for over 2 years but lately there's a problem every time I play audio. I hear a small soft burst of static and the volume turns itself down from 50% to 23%. Once at 23%, it plays fine. No related events logged in viewer. No reported problems with the device. Different headphones, same problem. I played around with audio settings for hours but the problem persists. EDIT: ok more info: Motherboard: ECS G31T-M LGA775 System info displays this: Name High Definition Audio Device Manufacturer Microsoft Status OK PNP Device ID HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_1106&DEV_E721&SUBSYS_10192683&REV_1001\4&3D4E739&0&0001 Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\hdaudio.sys (6.1.7600.16385, 297.00 KB (304,128 bytes), 14/07/2009 9:51 AM) I'll keep adding info as I find it. The question I want resolved is; Is it faulty hardware? If so, I can buy a sound card. I can't imagine software is responsible since I haven't installed anything new for weeks. Virus scans are clear as well. The static burst is irritating to say the least. Tried 2 different headphones and separate speakers. Same problem. I know it's not an easy problem but I was hoping someone had encountered the same thing.

• moved wordpress site to rackspace cloud, now custom queries breaks code

  Moved a wordpress site onto a rackspace account from a linux server. Everything is working except for any custom post queries that I programmed. these were working just fine before, and I have tested to make sure it is these queries that is breaking the code. For example here is a snippet that will make the page not load <?php query_posts( "p=215" ); ?> <?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> <? the_content(); ?> <? endwhile; endif; wp_reset_query(); ?> Does anyone have any insights? My thoughts are that the switch to Rackspace account has something to do with it.

• Most efficient way to download media files from a server from within an iPhone app.

  Hi, I have an iPhone application which contains a lot of media files, so far we have been able to keep the size of the iPhone app to less than 20 MB. We add new content with new updates, it would be difficult to keep the app size within the 20 MB limit. The right thing to do here would be to fetch the files on demand from a media/web server. If you have any pointers on how to go about doing this, please suggest. What we would need is to fetch the media files (.jpg/.png images ) on demand when the user taps on a small thumbnail for the image. Are there existing frameworks/servers that provide such services to iPhone clients. Thanks.

  Hoping someone can clear this up for me. Let's say I have 2 globals: var myarray=[1,3,5,7,9],hold; and then I do this: function setup() { alert (myarray[0]);//shows 1 hold=myarray; alert (hold);//appears to show 'hold' containing all the values of myarray. first number shown is 1 myarray[0]=2; alert (hold);//shows the values of myarray with the updated first entry. first numbe shown is 2 } Am I to take it that 'hold' is simply keeping a reference to myarray, rather than actually taking all the values of?

How ca I make image opaque using image view or relative layout for setting the image dynamically or Is there any other option to set image and its opacity dynamically? • Inspirational software for end-users written in Haskell?

  I think great technology ist invisible. Besides the usual suspects (GHC, Xmonad, proprietary trading software) what great examples are there for end-user software written in Haskell? I think good examples are FreeArc, Hledger and "Nikki And The Robots". Do you have more examples (full blown GUI apps, small CLI tools, etc)? Edit: For example i am fascinated by Wings3D, because while written in Erlang, users can not tell that. It just works. Among Haskell's weak spots are cross-platform GUIs. There are not many GUI apps written in Haskkel in general and most of them are no easy to use, install or even compile. What are good examples to learn from how to make hard things look easy?
