  • Text encoding problem between NSImage, NSData, and NSXMLDocument

    I'm attempting to take an NSImage and convert it to a string which I can write in an XML document. My current attempt looks something like this: [xmlDocument setCharacterEncoding: @"US-ASCII"]; NSData* data = [image TIFFRepresentation]; NSString* string = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; //Put string inside of NSXMLElement, write out NSXMLDocument. Reading back in looks something like this: NSXMLDocument* newXMLDocument = [[NSXMLDocument alloc] initWithData:data options:0 error:outError]; //Here's where it fails. I get: //Error Domain=NSXMLParserErrorDomain Code=9 UserInfo=0x100195310 "Line 7: Char 0x0 out of allowed range" I assume I'm missing something basic. What's up with this encoding issue?

    I'm having some trouble with XSL-processing when there are stylesheets that include other stylesheets relatively. (the XML-files may be irrelevant but are included for completeness - code is at the bottom). Also loading XML documents with NSXMLDocumentXInclude beforehand does not seem to help. Is there any way to make the XSL processing so that a stylesheet can include another stylesheet in its local path?

    Hello, I'm a newbie to Cocoa, just develop some little apps with C/C++ on Windows. I want to make a "simple" app on Cocoa. When the user specific XML file, the file nodes are represented "enduser viewable". I made an interface with some NSTextField. I made a subclass of NSDocument called "XMLFile" so i got "XMLFile.h" and "XMLFile.m" in my Xcode project.     Hi, I have read an XML file and converted into NSXMLDocument object. But, due to the presence of "<" in the string content of a node, it has been converted into "&lt". So, when i write it as xml document to a file, it has the character "&lt" in it. How can i write to the file as ordinary XML file in which "&lt" will be replaced by "<". Thanks and Regards, Lenin

    Hello everyone, Given the following XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <application name="foo"> <movie name="tc" english="tce.swf" chinese="tcc.swf" a="1" b="10" c="20" /> <movie name="tl" english="tle.swf" chinese="tlc.swf" d="30" e="40" f="50" /> </application> How can I access the attributes ("english", "chinese", "name", "a", "b", etc.) and their associated values of the MOVIE nodes? I currently have in Cocoa the ability to traverse these nodes, but I'm at a loss at how I can access the data in the MOVIE NSXMLNodes. Is there a way I can dump all of the values from each NSXMLNode into a Hashtable and retrieve values that way? Am using NSXMLDocument and NSXMLNodes.

    I am developing an app for IPad, and I need to modify several attributes in a XML file at runtime. I found the class NSXMLDocument, http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/cocoa/reference/foundation/Classes/NSXMLDocument_Class/Reference/Reference.html But I haven't been able to import it to my project. Is this class not available for IPhone/IPad development? Is there some other approach I can consider? I read about libxml library. Is it my answer or there is a better approach?
