  • Get the string "System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection" from a Type (System.type) containing a generic ObservableCollection?

    - by Guillaume Cogranne
    I got a Type whose FullName is (if this helps) : "System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection`1[[System.String, mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089]]" From that Type, I'd like to get "System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection" as a string but I'd like to do it "cleanly", which means, without spliting the string with the char '`'. I think the strategy is to get something like a Type or something else whose FullName will be "System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection" but I really don't manage to do it :/

  • SharePoint 2010 - Client Object Model - Add attachment to ListItem

    - by Thorben
    Hi, I have a SharePoint List to which I'm adding new ListItems using the Client Object Model. Adding ListItems is not a problem and works great. Now I want to add attachments. I'm using the SaveBinaryDirect in the following manner: File.SaveBinaryDirect(clientCtx, url.AbsolutePath + "/Attachments/31/" + fileName, inputStream, true); It works without any problem as long as the item that I'm trying to add the attachment to, already has an attachment that was added through the SharePoint site and not using the Client Object Model. When I try to add an attachment to a item that doesnt have any attachments yet, I get the following errors (both happen but not with the same files - but those two messages appear consistently): The remote server returned an error: (409) Conflict The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found I figured that maybe I need to create the attachment folder first for this item. When I try the following code: clientCtx.Load(ticketList.RootFolder.Folders); clientCtx.ExecuteQuery(); clientCtx.Load(ticketList.RootFolder.Folders[1]); // 1 -> Attachment folder clientCtx.Load(ticketList.RootFolder.Folders[1].Folders); clientCtx.ExecuteQuery(); Folder folder = ticketList.RootFolder.Folders[1].Folders.Add("33"); clientCtx.ExecuteQuery(); I receive an error message saying: Cannot create folder "Lists/Ticket System/Attachment/33" I have full administrator rights for the SharePoint site/list. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? Thanks, Thorben

  • SharePoint 2007 Object Model: How can I make a new site collection, move the original main site to b

    - by program247365
    Here's my current setup: one site collection on a SharePoint 2007 (MOSS Enterprise) box (32 GB total in size) one main site with many subsites (mostly created from the team site template, if that matters) that is part of the one site collection on the box What I'm trying to do*: *If there is a better order, or method for the following, I'm open to changing it Create a new site collection, with a main default site, on same SP instance (this is done, easy to do in SP Object Model) Move rootweb (a) to be a subsite in the new location, under the main site Current structure: rootweb (a) \ many sub sites (sub a) What new structure should look like: newrootweb(b) \ oldrootweb (a) \ old many sub sites (sub a) Here's my code for step #2: Notes: * SPImport in the object model under SharePoint.Administration, is what is being used here * This code currently errors out with "Object reference not an instance of an object", when it fires the error event handler using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using Microsoft.SharePoint; using Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment; public static bool FullImport(string baseFilename, bool CommandLineVerbose, bool bfileCompression, string fileLocation, bool HaltOnNonfatalError, bool HaltOnWarning, bool IgnoreWebParts, string LogFilePath, string destinationUrl) { #region my try at import string message = string.Empty; bool bSuccess = false; try { SPImportSettings settings = new SPImportSettings(); settings.BaseFileName = baseFilename; settings.CommandLineVerbose = CommandLineVerbose; settings.FileCompression = bfileCompression; settings.FileLocation = fileLocation; settings.HaltOnNonfatalError = HaltOnNonfatalError; settings.HaltOnWarning = HaltOnWarning; settings.IgnoreWebParts = IgnoreWebParts; settings.IncludeSecurity = SPIncludeSecurity.All; settings.LogFilePath = fileLocation; settings.WebUrl = destinationUrl; settings.SuppressAfterEvents = true; settings.UpdateVersions = SPUpdateVersions.Append; settings.UserInfoDateTime = SPImportUserInfoDateTimeOption.ImportAll; SPImport import = new SPImport(settings); import.Started += delegate(System.Object o, SPDeploymentEventArgs e) { //started message = "Current Status: " + e.Status.ToString() + " " + e.ObjectsProcessed.ToString() + " of " + e.ObjectsTotal + " objects processed thus far."; message = e.Status.ToString(); }; import.Completed += delegate(System.Object o, SPDeploymentEventArgs e) { //done message = "Current Status: " + e.Status.ToString() + " " + e.ObjectsProcessed.ToString() + " of " + e.ObjectsTotal + " objects processed."; }; import.Error += delegate(System.Object o, SPDeploymentErrorEventArgs e) { //broken message = "Error Message: " + e.ErrorMessage.ToString() + " Error Type: " + e.ErrorType + " Error Recommendation: " + e.Recommendation + " Deployment Object: " + e.DeploymentObject.ToString(); System.Console.WriteLine("Error"); }; import.ProgressUpdated += delegate(System.Object o, SPDeploymentEventArgs e) { //something happened message = "Current Status: " + e.Status.ToString() + " " + e.ObjectsProcessed.ToString() + " of " + e.ObjectsTotal + " objects processed thus far."; }; import.Run(); bSuccess = true; } catch (Exception ex) { bSuccess = false; message = string.Format("Error: The site collection '{0}' could not be imported.   • How can I implement an interface member in protected ?

    - by Nicolas Dorier
    Hi, I've been quite surprise when I saw the metadata of ReadOnlyObservableCollection in VS 2008... public class ReadOnlyObservableCollection<T> : ReadOnlyCollection<T>, INotifyCollectionChanged, INotifyPropertyChanged { // Summary: // Initializes a new instance of the System.Collections.ObjectModel.ReadOnlyObservableCollection<T> // class that serves as a wrapper for the specified System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection<T>. // // Parameters: // list: // The collection to wrap. public ReadOnlyObservableCollection(ObservableCollection<T> list); // Summary: // Occurs when an item is added or removed. protected virtual event NotifyCollectionChangedEventHandler CollectionChanged; // // Summary: // Occurs when a property value changes. protected virtual event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; // Summary: // Raises the System.Collections.ObjectModel.ReadOnlyObservableCollection<T>.CollectionChanged // event. // // Parameters: // args: // The event data. protected virtual void OnCollectionChanged(NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs args); // // Summary: // Raises the System.Collections.ObjectModel.ReadOnlyObservableCollection<T>.PropertyChanged // event. // // Parameters: // args: // The event data. protected virtual void OnPropertyChanged(PropertyChangedEventArgs args); } As you can see, CollectionChanged, a member of INotifyCollectionChanged is implemented in protected... and I can't do that in my own class. .NET framework should not compile ! Does someone has an explanation of this mystery ?

  • How to find full module path of a class to import in other file

    I have method that returns module path of given class name def findModulePath(path, className): attributes = [] for root, dirs, files in os.walk(path): for source in (s for s in files if s.endswith(".py")): name = os.path.splitext(os.path.basename(source))[0] full_name = os.path.splitext(source)[0].replace(os.path.sep, '.') m = imp.load_module(full_name, *imp.find_module(name, [root])) try: attr = getattr(m, className) attributes.append(attr) except: pass if len(attributes) <= 0: raise Exception, "Class %s not found" % className for element in attributes: print "%s.%s" % (element.__module__, className) but it does not return the full path of the module, For example I have a python file named "objectmodel" in objects package,and it contains a Model class, So I call findModulePath(MyProjectPath,"Model"). it prints objectmodel.Model but I need objects.objectmodel.Model

  • Why does ObservableCollection throws an exception when being modified?

    - by Oliver Hanappi
    Hi! My application uses a WPF DataGrid. One of the columns is a template column that containts a combobox bound to an ObservableCollection of the entity which feeds the row. When I add a value to the ObservableCollection, a NullReferenceException is thrown. Has anybody an idea why this happens? Here is the stacktrace of the exception: at MS.Internal.Data.PropertyPathWorker.DetermineWhetherDBNullIsValid() at MS.Internal.Data.PropertyPathWorker.get_IsDBNullValidForUpdate() at MS.Internal.Data.ClrBindingWorker.get_IsDBNullValidForUpdate() at System.Windows.Data.BindingExpression.ConvertProposedValue(Object value) at System.Windows.Data.BindingExpressionBase.UpdateValue() at System.Windows.Data.BindingExpression.Update(Boolean synchronous) at System.Windows.Data.BindingExpressionBase.Dirty() at System.Windows.Data.BindingExpression.SetValue(DependencyObject d, DependencyProperty dp, Object value) at System.Windows.DependencyObject.SetValueCommon(DependencyProperty dp, Object value, PropertyMetadata metadata, Boolean coerceWithDeferredReference, OperationType operationType, Boolean isInternal) at System.Windows.DependencyObject.SetValue(DependencyProperty dp, Object value) at System.Windows.Controls.Primitives.Selector.UpdatePublicSelectionProperties() at System.Windows.Controls.Primitives.Selector.SelectionChanger.End() at System.Windows.Controls.Primitives.Selector.OnItemsChanged(NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Controls.ItemsControl.OnItemCollectionChanged(Object sender, NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs e) at System.Collections.Specialized.NotifyCollectionChangedEventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Data.CollectionView.OnCollectionChanged(NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs args) at System.Windows.Controls.ItemCollection.System.Windows.IWeakEventListener.ReceiveWeakEvent(Type managerType, Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.WeakEventManager.DeliverEventToList(Object sender, EventArgs args, ListenerList list) at System.Windows.WeakEventManager.DeliverEvent(Object sender, EventArgs args) at System.Collections.Specialized.CollectionChangedEventManager.OnCollectionChanged(Object sender, NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs args) at System.Windows.Data.CollectionView.OnCollectionChanged(NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs args) at System.Windows.Data.ListCollectionView.ProcessCollectionChangedWithAdjustedIndex(NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs args, Int32 adjustedOldIndex, Int32 adjustedNewIndex) at System.Windows.Data.ListCollectionView.ProcessCollectionChanged(NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs args) at System.Windows.Data.CollectionView.OnCollectionChanged(Object sender, NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs args) at System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection`1.OnCollectionChanged(NotifyCollectionChangedEventArgs e) at System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection`1.InsertItem(Int32 index, T item) at System.Collections.ObjectModel.Collection`1.Add(T item) at ORF.PersonBook.IdentityModule.Model.SubsidiaryModel.AddRoom(RoomModel room) in C:\Project\Phoenix\Development\src\ORF.PersonBook.IdentityModule\Model\SubsidiaryModel.cs:line 127

  • NullReferenceException when changing skin/theme via Application.Current.Resources

    - by CoolCat
    I am writing an wpf application with multiple skins. The code to switch theme is as below: try { Application.Current.Resources.MergedDictionaries.Add( resource ); } catch( Exception ex ) { } The first time the code is called (to switch to a new theme), it is executed successfully; however, any subsequent calls to the same code would throw System.NullReferenceException. The way I set up my themes are similar to what described here: http://www.codewrecks.com/blog/index.php/2008/05/22/simple-skinnable-and-theme-management-in-wpf-user-interface/. Has anyone seen this error before? How do I go about debugging this since the exception is thrown else where? Any help is greatly appreciated. • WPF DATAGRID CELL CONTENTS ALIGNMENT

    - by Ulhas Tuscano
    Hi, I have a WPF DataGrid control I am binding the objects of class Customer to DataGrid Rows using ObservableCollection at run time. I have set MinRowHeight="100" & I want the rows of DataGrid should be HorizontallyAligned at Center & Vertically at Left. Setting DataGrid properties VerticalContentAlignment="Center" HorizontalContentAlignment="Center" doesn't help. Code :--- System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection cust1 = new System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection { new Customer{FirstName="Ulhas",LastName="TUSCANO",IsMember = true ,Email="[email protected]",Status=OrderStatus.Processing }, new Customer{FirstName="Neville",LastName="TUSCANO",IsMember = true ,Email="[email protected]",Status=OrderStatus.Received }, new Customer{FirstName="Pascoal",LastName="TUSCANO",IsMember = true ,Email="[email protected]",Status=OrderStatus.None }, new Customer{FirstName="Mary",LastName="TUSCANO",IsMember = true ,Email="[email protected]",Status=OrderStatus.Received }, new Customer{FirstName="Mary",LastName="TUSCANO",IsMember = true ,Email="[email protected]",Status=OrderStatus.Received }, new Customer{FirstName="Mary",LastName="TUSCANO",IsMember = true ,Email="[email protected]",Status=OrderStatus.Received }, }; dataGrid1.ItemsSource = cust1; public class Customer { public string FirstName{get;set;} public string LastName { get; set; } public string Email { get; set; } public bool IsMember { get; set; } public OrderStatus Status { get; set; } } Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanx

  • FileSystem.GetFiles() + UnauthorizedAccessException error?

    - by OverTheRainbow
    Hello, It seems like FileSystem.GetFiles() is unable to recover from the UnauthorizedAccessException exception that .Net triggers when trying to access an off-limit directory. In this case, does it mean this class/method isn't useful when scanning a whole drive and I should use some other solution (in which case: Which one?)? Here's some code to show the issue: Private Sub bgrLongProcess_DoWork(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.DoWorkEventArgs) Handles bgrLongProcess.DoWork Dim drive As DriveInfo Dim filelist As Collections.ObjectModel.ReadOnlyCollection(Of String) Dim filepath As String 'Scan all fixed-drives for MyFiles.* For Each drive In DriveInfo.GetDrives() If drive.DriveType = DriveType.Fixed Then Try 'How to handle "Access to the path 'C:\System Volume Information' is denied." error? filelist = My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles(drive.ToString, FileIO.SearchOption.SearchAllSubDirectories, "MyFiles.*") For Each filepath In filelist DataGridView1.Rows.Add(filepath.ToString, "temp") 'Trigger ProgressChanged() event bgrLongProcess.ReportProgress(0, filepath) Next filepath Catch Ex As UnauthorizedAccessException 'How to ignore this directory and move on? End Try End If Next drive End Sub Thank you. Edit: What about using a Try/Catch just to have GetFiles() fill the array, ignore the exception and just resume? Private Sub bgrLongProcess_DoWork(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.DoWorkEventArgs) Handles bgrLongProcess.DoWork 'Do lengthy stuff here Dim filelist As Collections.ObjectModel.ReadOnlyCollection(Of String) Dim filepath As String filelist = Nothing Try filelist = My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles("C:\", FileIO.SearchOption.SearchAllSubDirectories, "MyFiles.*") Catch ex As UnauthorizedAccessException 'How to just ignore this off-limit directory and resume searching? End Try 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object For Each filepath In filelist bgrLongProcess.ReportProgress(0, filepath) Next filepath End Sub

  • ASP.NET MVC : Good Replacement for User Control?

    - by David Lively
    I found user controls to be incredibly useful when working with ASP.NET webforms. By encapsulating the code required for displaying a control with the markup, creation of reusable components was very straightforward and very, very useful. While MVC provides convenient separation of concerns, this seems to break encapsulation (ie, you can add a control without adding or using its supporting code, leading to runtime errors). Having to modify a controller every time I add a control to a view seems to me to integrate concerns, not separate them. I'd rather break the purist MVC ideology than give up the benefits of reusable, packaged controls. I need to be able to include components similar to webforms user controls throughout a site, but not for the entire site, and not at a level that belongs in a master page. These components should have their own code not just markup (to interact with the business layer), and it would be great if the page controller didn't need to know about the control. Since MVC user controls don't have codebehind, I can't see a good way to do this. Update FINALLY, a good (and, in retrospect, obvious) way to accomplish this. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Mvc; namespace K.ObjectModel.Controls { public class TestControl : ViewUserControl { protected override void Render(System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter writer) { writer.Write("Hello World"); base.Render(writer); } } } Create a new class which inherits ViewUserControl Override the .Render() method as shown above. Register the control via its associated ASCX as you would in a webForm: <%@ Register TagName="tn" TagPrefix="k" Src="~/Views/Navigation/LeftBar.ascx"%> Use the corresponding tag in whatever view or master page that you need: <k:tn runat="server"/> Make sure your .ascx inherits your new control: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="K.ObjectModel.Controls.TestControl" %> Voila, you're up and running. This is tested with ASP.NET MVC 2, VS 2010 and .NET 4.0. Your custom tag references the ascx partial view, which inherits from the TestControl class. The control then overrides the Render() method, which is called to render the view, giving you complete control over the process from tag to output. Why does everyone try to make this so much harder than it has to be?

  • Passing a variable from Excel 2007 Custom Task Pane to Hosted PowerShell

    - by Uros Calakovic
    I am testing PowerShell hosting using C#. Here is a console application that works: using System; using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Collections.ObjectModel; using System.Management.Automation; using System.Management.Automation.Runspaces; using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel; namespace ConsoleApplication3 { class Program { static void Main() { Application app = new Application(); app.Visible = true; app.Workbooks.Add(XlWBATemplate.xlWBATWorksheet); Runspace runspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace(); runspace.Open(); runspace.SessionStateProxy.SetVariable("Application", app); Pipeline pipeline = runspace.CreatePipeline("$Application"); Collection<PSObject> results = null; try { results = pipeline.Invoke(); foreach (PSObject pob in results) { Console.WriteLine(pob); } } catch (RuntimeException re) { Console.WriteLine(re.GetType().Name); Console.WriteLine(re.Message); } } } } I first create an Excel.Application instance and pass it to the hosted PowerShell instance as a varible named $Application. This works and I can use this variable as if Excel.Application was created from within PowerShell. I next created an Excel addin using VS 2008 and added a user control with two text boxes and a button to the addin (the user control appears as a custom task pane when Excel starts). The idea was this: when I click the button a hosted PowerShell instance is created and I can pass to it the current Excel.Application instance as a variable, just like in the first sample, so I can use this variable to automate Excel from PowerShell (one text box would be used for input and the other one for output. Here is the code: using System; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Management.Automation; using System.Management.Automation.Runspaces; using System.Collections.ObjectModel; using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel; namespace POSHAddin { public partial class POSHControl : UserControl { public POSHControl() { InitializeComponent(); } private void btnRun_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { txtOutput.Clear(); Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application app = Globals.ThisAddIn.Application; Runspace runspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace(); runspace.Open(); runspace.SessionStateProxy.SetVariable("Application", app); Pipeline pipeline = runspace.CreatePipeline( "$Application | Get-Member | Out-String"); app.ActiveCell.Value2 = "Test"; Collection<PSObject> results = null; try { results = pipeline.Invoke(); foreach (PSObject pob in results) { txtOutput.Text += pob.ToString() + "-"; } } catch (RuntimeException re) { txtOutput.Text += re.GetType().Name; txtOutput.Text += re.Message; } } } } The code is similar to the first sample, except that the current Excel.Application instance is available to the addin via Globals.ThisAddIn.Application (VSTO generated) and I can see that it is really a Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application instance because I can use things like app.ActiveCell.Value2 = "Test" (this actually puts the text into the active cell). But when I pass the Excel.Application instance to the PowerShell instance what gets there is an instance of System.__ComObject and I can't figure out how to cast it to Excel.Application. When I examine the variable from PowerShell using $Application | Get-Member this is the output I get in the second text box: TypeName: System.__ComObject Name MemberType Definition ---- ---------- ---------- CreateObjRef Method System.Runtime.Remoting.ObjRef CreateObj... Equals Method System.Boolean Equals(Object obj) GetHashCode Method System.Int32 GetHashCode() GetLifetimeService Method System.Object GetLifetimeService() GetType Method System.Type GetType() InitializeLifetimeService Method System.Object InitializeLifetimeService() ToString Method System.String ToString() My question is how can I pass an instance of Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application from a VSTO generated Excel 2007 addin to a hosted PowerShell instance, so I can manipulate it from PowerShell? (I have previously posted the question in the Microsoft C# forum without an answer)

  • Code Access Security and Sharepoint WebParts

    - by Gordon Carpenter-Thompson
    I've got a vague handle on how Code Access Security works in Sharepoint. I have developed a custom webpart and setup a CAS policy in my Manifest <CodeAccessSecurity> <PolicyItem> <PermissionSet class="NamedPermissionSet" version="1" Description="Permission set for Okana"> <IPermission class="Microsoft.SharePoint.Security.SharePointPermission, Microsoft.SharePoint.Security, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" version="1" ObjectModel="True" Impersonate="True" /> <IPermission class="SecurityPermission" version="1" Flags="Assertion, Execution, ControlThread, ControlPrincipal, RemotingConfiguration" /> <IPermission class="AspNetHostingPermission" version="1" Level="Medium" /> <IPermission class="DnsPermission" version="1" Unrestricted="true" /> <IPermission class="EventLogPermission" version="1" Unrestricted="true"> <Machine name="localhost" access="Administer" /> </IPermission> <IPermission class="EnvironmentPermission" version="1" Unrestricted="true" /> <IPermission class="System.Configuration.ConfigurationPermission, System.Configuration, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" version="1" Unrestricted="true"/> <IPermission class="System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" version="1" Unrestricted="true" /> <IPermission class="System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" Unrestricted="true" /> <IPermission class="System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" version="1" Unrestricted="true" PathDiscovery="*AllFiles*" /> <IPermission class="IsolatedStorageFilePermission" version="1" Allowed="AssemblyIsolationByUser" UserQuota="9223372036854775807" /> <IPermission class="PrintingPermission" version="1" Level="DefaultPrinting" /> <IPermission class="PerformanceCounterPermission" version="1"> <Machine name="localhost"> <Category name="Enterprise Library Caching Counters" access="Write"/> <Category name="Enterprise Library Cryptography Counters" access="Write"/> <Category name="Enterprise Library Data Counters" access="Write"/> <Category name="Enterprise Library Exception Handling Counters" access="Write"/> <Category name="Enterprise Library Logging Counters" access="Write"/> <Category name="Enterprise Library Security Counters" access="Write"/> </Machine> </IPermission> <IPermission class="ReflectionPermission" version="1" Unrestricted="true"/> <IPermission class="SecurityPermission" version="1" Flags="SerializationFormatter, UnmanagedCode, Infrastructure, Assertion, Execution, ControlThread, ControlPrincipal, RemotingConfiguration, ControlAppDomain,ControlDomainPolicy" /> <IPermission class="SharePointPermission" version="1" ObjectModel="True" /> <IPermission class="SmtpPermission" version="1" Access="Connect" /> <IPermission class="SqlClientPermission" version="1" Unrestricted="true"/> <IPermission class="WebPartPermission" version="1" Connections="True" /> <IPermission class="WebPermission" version="1"> <ConnectAccess> <URI uri="$OriginHost$"/> </ConnectAccess> </IPermission> </PermissionSet> <Assemblies> .... </Assemblies> This is correctly converted into a wss_custom_wss_minimaltrust.config when it is deployed onto the Sharepoint server and mostly works. To get the WebPart working fully, however I find that I need to modify the wss_custom_wss_minimaltrust.config by hand after deployment and set Unrestricted="true" on the permissions set <PermissionSet class="NamedPermissionSet" version="1" Description="Permission set for MyApp" Name="mywebparts.wsp-86d8cae1-7db2-4057-8c17-dc551adb17a2-1"> to <PermissionSet class="NamedPermissionSet" version="1" Description="Permission set for MyApp" Name="mywebparts.wsp-86d8cae1-7db2-4057-8c17-dc551adb17a2-1" Unrestricted="true"> It's all because I'm loading a User Control from the webpart. I don't believe there is a way to enable that using CAS but am willing to be proven wrong. Is there a way to set something in the manifest so I don't need to make this fix by hand? Thanks

  • FxCop CA2227 warning and ReadOnlyCollection<T>

    - by brickner
    In my VS2008 SP1, .NET 3.5 SP1 project, I have different classes that contain different properties. I use C#3.0 auto properties a lot. Some of these properties need to be collections. Since I want to make it simple, I use ReadOnlyCollection<T for these properties. I don't want to use IEnumerable<T since I want random access to the elements. I use Code Analysis (FxCop rules) and I get the CA2227 warning. I don't understand why does ReadOnlyCollection<T should have a set method while it can't be changed... The set method can only do exactly what the property can do. Example: using System.Collections.ObjectModel; namespace CA2227 { public class MyClass { public ReadOnlyCollection<int> SomeNumbers { get; set; } } } CA2227 : Microsoft.Usage : Change 'MyClass.SomeNumbers' to be read-only by removing the property setter. • How to create an ObservableCollection using LINQ in Silverlight

    - by sonofpirate
    In a non-Silverlight world, it is easy to use LINQ to create an ObservableCollection. This is because the ObservableCollection class has constructors that accept any IEnumerable<T or List<T. However, the Silverlight version does not! This means that code such as: var list = (from item in e.Result select new ViewModel(item)).ToList(); Items = new System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection<ViewModel>(list); will not work in Silverlight. Is there another option to make this work besides resorting to a for-each statement?

  • Could not load file or assembly

    - by sldevelop
    Hi guys, I'm tring to create a generic collection of dynamic type at runtime of Silverlight application. My code: Type listType = Type.GetType("System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection`1[[" + type.AssemblyQualifiedName + "]], System.Windows, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e", true); type - is variable of Type type. That Type is creating at runtime. At that code line I've got error: Could not load file or assembly ', Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. How can I resolve that error?

  • silverlight with WCF(get data through collections)

    - by Piyush
    in my silverlight page I am fetching the data through WCF WCF is returning an BusinessEntityCollection that is the collection of rows SqlParameter[] sqlParameter = new SqlParameter[]{new SqlParameter("@recordType",recordType)}; MenuEntity menuEntity; MenuEntityCollection menuEntityCollection = new MenuEntityCollection(); using (SqlDataReader sqlDataReader = SqlHelper.ExecuteReader(_ConnectionString,CommandType.StoredProcedure, StoredProcedures.GetMenus, sqlParameter)) { if (sqlDataReader.Read()) { menuEntity = new MenuEntity(); DataAccessHelper.GetEntity(sqlDataReader, menuEntity); menuEntityCollection.Add(menuEntity); } } return menuEntityCollection; -- in silverlight page when I am calling WCF there I am getting an error MenuEntity menuList = new MenuEntity(); menuList = e.Result; <-----error line error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection' to 'FastTrackSLUI.AdminServiceReference.MenuEntity'

  • Problem with persisting interface collection at design time in winforms, .net

    - by Jules
    The easiest way to explain this problem is to show you some code: Public Interface IAmAnnoyed End Interface Public Class IAmAnnoyedCollection Inherits ObjectModel.Collection(Of IAmAnnoyed) End Class Public Class Anger Implements IAmAnnoyed End Class Public Class MyButton Inherits Button Private _Annoyance As IAmAnnoyedCollection <DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Content)> _ Public ReadOnly Property Annoyance() As IAmAnnoyedCollection Get Return _Annoyance End Get End Property Private _InternalAnger As Anger <DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Content)> _ Public ReadOnly Property InternalAnger() As Anger Get Return Me._InternalAnger End Get End Property Public Sub New() Me._Annoyance = New IAmAnnoyedCollection Me._InternalAnger = New Anger Me._Annoyance.Add(Me._InternalAnger) End Sub End Class And this is the code that the designer generates: Private Sub InitializeComponent() Dim Anger1 As Anger = New Anger Me.MyButton1 = New MyButton ' 'MyButton1 ' Me.MyButton1.Annoyance.Add(Anger1) // Should be: Me.MyButton1.Annoyance.Add(Me.MyButton1.InternalAnger) ' 'Form1 ' Me.Controls.Add(Me.MyButton1) End Sub I've added a comment to the above to show how the code should have been generated. Now, if I dispense with the interface and just have a collection of Anger, then it persists correctly. Any ideas?

  • Is there a general concrete implementation of a KeyedCollection?

    - by CodeSavvyGeek
    The System.Collections.ObjectModel.KeyedCollection class is a very useful alternative to System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary, especially when the key data is part of the object being stored or you want to be able to enumerate the items in order. Unfortunately, the class is abstract, and I am unable to find a general concrete implementation in the core .NET framework. The Framework Design Guidlines book indicates that a concrete implementation should be provided for abstract types (section 4.4 Abstract Class Design). Why would the framework designers leave out a general concrete implementation of such a useful class, especially when it could be provided by simply exposing a constructor that accepts and stores a Converter from the item to its key: public class ConcreteKeyedCollection : KeyedCollection { private Converter getKeyForItem = null; public GenericKeyedCollection(Converter getKeyForItem) { if (getKeyForItem == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("getKeyForItem"); } this.getKeyForItem = getKeyForItem; } protected override TKey GetKeyForItem(TItem item) { return this.getKeyForItem(item); } }
