• pdftotext not outputting hebrew characters

  I'm using Xpdf's pdftotext to get the text out of some hebrew pdf files on Ubuntu. On my local machine this worked fine. I then tried to do it on another machine and the hebrew characters don't show up in the text file. I verified that I have the language package (see below why I think so). • Apache httpd processes and PHP out of memory

  I have a VPS running apache-php-mysql on centos and a single drupal website installed. The VPS has 256MB of RAM (could be the root cause of all my problems... maybe I just need more). Whenever I try to open my website from multiple browser tabs (about 8... not 800) all at once, apache crashes! I have this on the log: [Wed Oct 24 11:26:31 2012] [error] [client xxx] PHP Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 28049408) (tried to allocate 201335 bytes) in xxx on line 2139, referer: xxx I have read many many posts here, but I think there is something fundamental that I'm missing - If I understand correctly some php script tried to allocate 200K after allocating 28MB, and fails to do so. First question is: should this cause the apache to crash??? Next, I tried to look at 'top' command while I do my little test. Indeed I see 7 httpd processes, each reserving about 30MB - which explains why my RAM runs out. How do I prevent apache from creating new processes until it's out of memory? I tried configuring /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf like this: <IfModule prefork.c> StartServers 1 MinSpareServers 1 MaxSpareServers 1 ServerLimit 1 MaxClients 1 MaxRequestsPerChild 100 </IfModule> But got the same exact result! What am I missing? Thanks a lot!

  Hi, I'm using Tomcat to deploy two web-services endpoints but on one WAR file (I used one WAR because the two endpoint implementations are calling one another). How can I define different login methods to each endpoint? I actually need two different custom realm for each endpoint... Thanks

• inverse relation to multiple inheriting classes in django

  Here are my schematic models: class Law(models.Model): ... class Bill(models.Model): ... # data for a proposed law, or change of an existing law class PrivateBill(Bill): ... # data for a Bill that was initiated by a parliament member class GovernmentBill(Bill): ... # data for a Bill that was initiated by the government It is possible and likely that in the future I (or maybe someone else) would want to add more Bill types. Every Bill should point to a Law (indicating what law this bill is going to change) and my question is: What is the best way to implement this? If I add the ForeignKey(Law) to Bill, I'll have a relation from every Bill to Law, but a Law would only have an inverse relation to Bills (bill_set), and not a different inverse relation to each type of bill. Of course I'll be able to filter each type of bill to get only the ones pointing to a specific Law, but this is something I think I'll need to use often, so I think having privatebill_set, governmentbill_set etc would make the code more readable. Another possible solution is to add the foreign key to each of the inheriting classes (this would give me a privatebill_set, governmentbill_set, futurebill_set), but that seems hairy because I would be relying on future programmers to remember to add that relation. How would you solve this?

• Tomcat Http and Https on the same port

  Hi, I have a web-service endpoint and a http connector on port X. At some point this endpoint needs to switch to https, but on the same port! (I know this is not the normal way of doing things, but this is what my clients expect from an old server they are using...) Is there a way to do it in tomcat?
