  • Java checking connection via socket continuously

    - by Onca
    I'm developing a multiclient-server program with Java based on GUI and database. The demand regarding the program from the client side is to make sure all the time that there is a connection to the server, and if the connection is lost (server goes down/problem with socket or stream) it should be notified. In other words I need a solution for continuously checking the connection to the server. What is the best way to do that ?

  • Amazon API ItemSearch returns (400) Bad Request.

    - by BuzzBubba
    I'm using a simple example from Amazon documentation for ItemSearch and I get a strange error: "The remote server returned an unexpected response: (400) Bad Request." This is the code: public static void Main() { //Remember to create an instance of the amazon service, including you Access ID. AWSECommerceServicePortTypeClient service = new AWSECommerceServicePortTypeClient(new BasicHttpBinding(), new EndpointAddress( "http://webservices.amazon.com/onca/soap?Service=AWSECommerceService")); AWSECommerceServicePortTypeClient client = new AWSECommerceServicePortTypeClient( new BasicHttpBinding(), new EndpointAddress("http://webservices.amazon.com/onca/soap?Service=AWSECommerceService")); // prepare an ItemSearch request ItemSearchRequest request = new ItemSearchRequest(); request.SearchIndex = "Books"; request.Title = "Harry+Potter"; request.ResponseGroup = new string[] { "Small" }; ItemSearch itemSearch = new ItemSearch(); itemSearch.Request = new ItemSearchRequest[] { request }; itemSearch.AWSAccessKeyId = accessKeyId; // issue the ItemSearch request try { ItemSearchResponse response = client.ItemSearch(itemSearch); // write out the results foreach (var item in response.Items[0].Item) { Console.WriteLine(item.ItemAttributes.Title); } } catch(Exception e) { Console.ForegroundColor = ConsoleColor.Red; Console.WriteLine(e.Message); Console.ForegroundColor = ConsoleColor.White; Console.WriteLine("Press any key to quit..."); Clipboard.SetText(e.Message); } Console.ReadKey(); What is wrong?

  • I don't get prices with Amazon Product Advertising API

    - by Xarem
    I try to get prices of an ASIN number with the Amazon Product Advertising API. Code: $artNr = "B003TKSD8E"; $base_url = "http://ecs.amazonaws.de/onca/xml"; $params = array( 'AWSAccessKeyId' => self::API_KEY, 'AssociateTag' => self::API_ASSOCIATE_TAG, 'Version' => "2010-11-01", 'Operation' => "ItemLookup", 'Service' => "AWSECommerceService", 'Condition' => "All", 'IdType' => 'ASIN', 'ItemId' => $artNr); $params['Timestamp'] = gmdate("Y-m-d\TH:i:s.\\0\\0\\0\\Z", time()); $url_parts = array(); foreach(array_keys($params) as $key) $url_parts[] = $key .   • Amazon Product Availability

    - by user201140
    Many products on amazon are unavailable but a date is given for when they'll be in stock. I've used AWS and got an XML reply but I can't find the date information anywhere. Is it possible to get this information? Thanks. NOTE: This is what i've got as a request, what should I alter? http://ecs.amazonaws.com/onca/xml?AWSAccessKeyId=MYID&AssociateTag=MYTAG&ItemId=THEITEMID&Operation=ItemLookup&ResponseGroup=Large&ReviewSort=-HelpfulVotes&Service=AWSECommerceService&Signature=MYSIGNATURE&Timestamp=2009-12-04T17%3A35%3A43Z&Version=2009-06-01

  • Amazon Web services - retrieving a wishlist

    - by izb
    I've been tinkering with Yahoo Pipes and the Amazon E-Commerce Service (ECS) SDK to retrieve my wishlist. The problem is that although I can get all the items on my wishlist just fine, it seems to include items that I've deleted too. Has anyone else used this API and noticed this? Is there a way around it? UPDATE: Requested additional information in comments... Here is the URL I use to fetch the wishlist XML: http://webservices.amazon.co.uk/onca/xml?SubscriptionId=[my subs id]&Service=AWSECommerceService&ResponseGroup=ListItems&ProductPage=1&ProductGroup=Book&Operation=ListLookup&ListType=WishList&ListId=[my list id] And here is the relevant part of the XML response: <ListId>[my list id]</ListId> <ListName>Wishlist</ListName> <TotalItems>132</TotalItems> <TotalPages>14</TotalPages> <ListItem> <ListItemId>EPIE5559HKT391</ListItemId> <DateAdded>2003-11-17</DateAdded> <QuantityDesired>1</QuantityDesired> <QuantityReceived>0</QuantityReceived> <Item> <ASIN>5557205521</ASIN> <ItemAttributes> <Title>Horton hears a who</Title> </ItemAttributes> </Item> </ListItem> ... The rest of the XML is just either more list items like that, or information about the request at the top of the response.

  • Codeigniter or PHP Amazon API help

    - by faya
    Hello, I have a problem searching through amazon web servise using PHP in my CodeIgniter. I get InvalidParameter timestamp is not in ISO-8601 format response from the server. But I don't think that timestamp is the problem,because I have tryed to compare with given date format from http://associates-amazon.s3.amazonaws.com/signed-requests/helper/index.html and it seems its fine. Could anyone help? Here is my code: $private_key = 'XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX'; // Took out real secret key $method = "GET"; $host = "ecs.amazonaws.com"; $uri = "/onca/xml"; $timeStamp = gmdate("Y-m-d\TH:i:s.000\Z"); $timeStamp = str_replace(":", "%3A", $timeStamp); $params["AWSAccesskeyId"] = "XXXXXXXXXXXX"; // Took out real access key $params["ItemPage"] = $item_page; $params["Keywords"] = $keywords; $params["ResponseGroup"] = "Medium2%2525COffers"; $params["SearchIndex"] = "Books"; $params["Operation"] = "ItemSearch"; $params["Service"] = "AWSECommerceService"; $params["Timestamp"] = $timeStamp; $params["Version"] = "2009-03-31"; ksort($params); $canonicalized_query = array(); foreach ($params as $param=>$value) { $param = str_replace("%7E", "~", rawurlencode($param)); $value = str_replace("%7E", "~", rawurlencode($value)); $canonicalized_query[] = $param. "=". $value; } $canonicalized_query = implode("&", $canonicalized_query); $string_to_sign = $method."\n\r".$host."\n\r".$uri."\n\r".$canonicalized_query; $signature = base64_encode(hash_hmac("sha256",$string_to_sign, $private_key, True)); $signature = str_replace("%7E", "~", rawurlencode($signature)); $request = "http://".$host.$uri."?".$canonicalized_query."&Signature=".$signature; $response = @file_get_contents($request); if ($response === False) { return "response fail"; } else { $parsed_xml = simplexml_load_string($response); if ($parsed_xml === False) { return "parse fail"; } else { return $parsed_xml; } } P.S. - Personally I think that something is wrong in the generation of the from the $string_to_sign when hashing it.

  • Amazon Product API: "Your request is missing a required parameter combination" on Blended ItemSearch

    - by Daniel Schaffer
    I'm having some problems trying to do an ItemSearch on the Blended index using the Amazon Product API. According to the documentation, Blended requests cannot specify the MerchantId parameter - and indeed, if I try to include it I get an error telling me so. However, when I don't include it, I get an error telling me that my request is missing a required parameter combination and that a valid combination includes MerchantId... what the hell? Here's the XML response: <Items xmlns="http://webservices.amazon.com/AWSECommerceService/2005-10-05"> <Request> <IsValid>False</IsValid> <ItemSearchRequest> <Availability>Available</Availability> <Condition>All</Condition> <Keywords> home theater pc and other geekery</Keywords> <ResponseGroup>Similarities</ResponseGroup> <ResponseGroup>SalesRank</ResponseGroup> <ResponseGroup>OfferSummary</ResponseGroup> <ResponseGroup>Small</ResponseGroup> <ResponseGroup>Images</ResponseGroup> <SearchIndex>Blended</SearchIndex> </ItemSearchRequest> <Errors> <Error> <Code>AWS.MissingParameterCombination</Code> <Message>Your request is missing a required parameter combination. Required parameter combinations include MerchantId, Availability.</Message> </Error> </Errors> </Request> </Items> The failing requests are being sent as part of batches with other requests that are succeeding. I'm using REST to send my requests, so here's an example of a request: http://ecs.amazonaws.com/onca/xml?AWSAccessKeyId=-------------& ItemSearch.1.Keywords=Mates%20of%20State& ItemSearch.1.MerchantId=Amazon& ItemSearch.1.SearchIndex=DVD& ItemSearch.2.Keywords=teaching%20Lily%20various%20computer%20related%20skills& ItemSearch.2.SearchIndex=Blended& ItemSearch.Shared.Availability=Available& ItemSearch.Shared.Condition=All& ItemSearch.Shared.ResponseGroup=Small%2CSalesRank%2CImages%2COfferSummary%2CSimilarities& Operation=ItemSearch%2CSimilarityLookup& Service=AWSECommerceService& SimilarityLookup.1.ItemId=B000FNNHZ2& SimilarityLookup.2.ItemId=B000EQ5UPU& SimilarityLookup.Shared.Availability=Available& SimilarityLookup.Shared.Condition=All& SimilarityLookup.Shared.MerchantId=Amazon& SimilarityLookup.Shared.ResponseGroup=Small%2CSalesRank%2CImages%2COfferSummary& Timestamp=2010-04-02T17%3A18%3A05Z& Signature=---------------- Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?
