• Flex: Dynamically create a preview image for a video....

  I'm using the VideoDisplay to play flv's, mov's, and mp4's and everything is working great. They are all being loaded via progressive download and are not being streamed. What I'd like to do is to grab a single specified frame (like whatever is being shown at the 10 second mark), convert it to a bitmap and use that bitmap as the preview image for the video. I'd like to do this at runtime so I don't have to create a preview image for every video that would be shown. Any idea's on how to do this? I'd rather not fake it by playing it - seeking for that specific frame and then pausing it but I may have no other choice?

• DRM for videos bundled with a desktop app?

  Hey everybody, So, I have this desktop app built using WPF and C#. It's basically an offline course system that has videos, quizzes, and other assorted content. My dilemma is that I don't know how to protect the videos once they are downloaded and installed on the users machine? Are there any DRM systems out there that I can look into? I thought about storing them in a local encrypted database but I don't even know where to start with that (or if there is something else out there that I'm totally missing...) Don't even know where to start looking on this one - any ideas?

• How can I resize a swf during runtime to have the browser create html scrollbars?

  I have a swf with loads text into a Sprite that resizes based on the content put into - I'd like though for the ones that are longer than the page to have the browser use its native scroll bars rather than handle it in actionscript (very much like http://www.nike.com/nikeskateboarding/v3/...) I did have a look at the stuff nike did but just wasn't able to pull it off. Any idea's?

• Any advice for speeding up the compile time in Flex Builder 3?

  I run Flex Builder 3 on a mac and as my project grows - the compile time gets longer and longer and longer. I am using some SWC's and there is a fair amount of code but it shouldn't take minutes to build and crash daily should it?

  Doug McCune had created something that was exactly what I needed (http://dougmccune.com/blog/2007/05/10/analyze-your-actionscript-code-with-this-apollo-app/) but alas - it was for AIR beta 2. I just would like some tool that I can run that would provide some decent metrics...any idea's?

• Count the number of times a string appears within a string...

  I simply have a string that looks something like this: "7,true,NA,false:67,false,NA,false:5,false,NA,false:5,false,NA,false" All I want to do is to count how many times the string "true" appears in that string. I'm feeling like the answer is something like String.CountAllTheTimesThisStringAppearsInThatString() but for some reason I just can't figure it out. Help?
