  • Why do you have to call URLConnection#getInputStream to be able to write out to URLConnection#getOutputStream?

    - by John
    I'm trying to write out to URLConnection#getOutputStream, however, no data is actually sent until I call URLConnection#getInputStream. Even if I set URLConnnection#doInput to false, it still will not send. Does anyone know why this is? There's nothing in the API documentation that describes this. Java API Documentation on URLConnection: http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/net/URLConnection.html Java's Tutorial on Reading from and Writing to a URLConnection: http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/networking/urls/readingWriting.html import java.io.IOException; import java.io.OutputStreamWriter; import java.net.URL; import java.net.URLConnection; public class UrlConnectionTest { private static final String TEST_URL = "http://localhost:3000/test/hitme"; public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { URLConnection urlCon = null; URL url = null; OutputStreamWriter osw = null; try { url = new URL(TEST_URL); urlCon = url.openConnection(); urlCon.setDoOutput(true); urlCon.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "text/plain"); //////////////////////////////////////// // SETTING THIS TO FALSE DOES NOTHING // //////////////////////////////////////// // urlCon.setDoInput(false); osw = new OutputStreamWriter(urlCon.getOutputStream()); osw.write("HELLO WORLD"); osw.flush(); ///////////////////////////////////////////////// // MUST CALL THIS OTHERWISE WILL NOT WRITE OUT // ///////////////////////////////////////////////// urlCon.getInputStream(); ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // If getInputStream is called while doInput=false, the following exception is thrown: // // java.net.ProtocolException: Cannot read from URLConnection if doInput=false (call setDoInput(true)) // ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (osw != null) { osw.close(); } } } }

  • correct way to turn EAR module into OSGI bundle

    - by Osw
    Greetings to all! There is a necessity to turn part of EAR (namely - war) into OSGI bundle and retain it's interoperability. Glassfish 3.0.1 already has osgi-web-container module and I succeeded to deploy standalone OSGI war. But in case of of ex-enterprise war it looks a bit difficult to me. What do I do with EJB calls from inside future OSGI war? Is it enough to replace @EJB injections with true JNDI lookups? What about APIs and libraries shared across EAR? I could split and rearrange them, but still I will have at least one jar needed by both EAR and OSGI war. Duplicate, make it as OSGI-bundle itself and make it available to ear somehow, place it GF domain's library path? Any other ideas, advices which could make that hybrid working? Many thanks in advance, Osw

  • Android - Persist file when app closes.

    - by Donal Rafferty
    I am creating a file in my Android application as follows: HEADINGSTRING = new String("Android Debugging " + "\n" "XML test Debugging"); } public void setUpLogging(Context context){ Log.d("LOGGING", "Setting up logging....."); try { // catches IOException below FileOutputStream fOut = context.openFileOutput(FILE_NAME,Context.MODE_APPEND); OutputStreamWriter osw = new OutputStreamWriter(fOut); // Write the string to the file osw.write(HEADINGSTRING); /* ensure that everything is * really written out and close */ osw.flush(); osw.close(); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally{ Log.d("LOGGING", "Finished logging setup....."); } } And I write to the file during the running of the app as follows: public void addToLog(File file, String text) throws IOException { BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter (new FileWriter(file, true)); bw.write ("\n" + text); bw.newLine(); bw.flush(); bw.close(); } This works fine but when my app closes the file gets deleted and when the app is run again all the information I wrote to it is gone. How can I make sure the file persists even after closure of the app? Update: I have changed MODE_PRIVATE to MODE_APPEND but the problem still remains.

  • Nginx. How do I reject request to unlisted ssl virtual server?

    - by Osw
    I have a wildcard SSL certificate and several subdomains on the same ip. Now I want my nginx to handle only mentioned server names and drop connection for others so that it'd look like nginx is not running for unlisted server names (not responding, rejecting, dead, not a single byte in response). I do the following ssl_certificate tls/domain.crt; ssl_certificate_key tls/domain.key; server { listen 1.2.3.4:443 ssl; server_name validname.domain.com; // } server { listen 1.2.3.4:443 ssl; server_name _; // deny all; // return 444; // return 404; //location { // deny all; //} } I've tried almost everything in the last server block, but no success. I get either valid response from known virtual server or error code. Please help.

  • How do I access the CodeDomProvider from a class inheriting from Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.VSHost.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite?

    - by Charlie
    Does anyone know how to get a CodeDomProvider in the new Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.VSHost.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite from the Visual Studio 2010 SDK? I used to get access to it just by in mere inheritance of the class Microsoft.CustomTool.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite, but now with this new class it is not there. I see a GlobalServiceProvider and a SiteServiceProvider but I can't find any example on how to use them. Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.VSHost.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb932625.aspx I was to do this: public class Generator : Microsoft.VisualStudio.TextTemplating.VSHost.BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite { public override string GetDefaultExtension() { // GetDefaultExtension IS ALSO NOT ACCESSIBLE... return this.InputFilePath.Substring(this.InputFilePath.LastIndexOf(".")) + ".designer" + base.GetDefaultExtension(); } // This method is being called every time the attached xml is saved. protected override byte[] GenerateCode(string inputFileName, string inputFileContent) { try { // Try to generate the wrapper file. return GenerateSourceCode(inputFileName); } catch (Exception ex) { // In case of a faliure - print the exception // as a comment in the source code. return GenerateExceptionCode(ex); } } public byte[] GenerateSourceCode(string inputFileName) { Dictionary<string, CodeCompileUnit> oCodeUnits; // THIS IS WHERE CodeProvider IS NOT ACCESSIBLE CodeDomProvider oCodeDomProvider = this.CodeProvider; string[] aCode = new MyCustomAPI.GenerateCode(inputFileName, ref oCodeDomProvider); return Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(String.Join(@" ", aCode)); } private byte[] GenerateExceptionCode(Exception ex) { CodeCompileUnit oCode = new CodeCompileUnit(); CodeNamespace oNamespace = new CodeNamespace("System"); oNamespace.Comments.Add(new CodeCommentStatement(MyCustomAPI.Print(ex))); oCode.Namespaces.Add(oNamespace); string sCode = null; using (StringWriter oSW = new StringWriter()) { using (IndentedTextWriter oITW = new IndentedTextWriter(oSW)) { this.CodeProvider.GenerateCodeFromCompileUnit(oCode, oITW, null); sCode = oSW.ToString(); } } return Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(sCode ); } } Thanks for your help!

  • Objective-C++ Memory Problem

    - by Stephen Furlani
    Hello, I'm having memory woes. I've got a C++ Library (Equalizer from Eyescale) and they use the Traversal Visitor Pattern to allow you to add new functionality to their classes. I've finally figured out how it works, and I've got a Visitor that just returns the properties from one of the objects. (since I don't know how they're allocated). so. My little code does this: VisitorResult AGLContextVisitor::visit( Channel* channel ) { // Search through Nodes, Pipes until we get to the right window. // Add some code to make sure we find the right one? // Not executing the following code as C++ in gdb? eq::Window* w = channel->getWindow(); OSWindow* osw = w->getOSWindow(); AGLWindow* aw = (AGLWindow *)osw; AGLContext agl_ctx = aw->getAGLContext(); this->setContext(agl_ctx); return TRAVERSE_PRUNE; } So here's the problem. eq::Window* w = channel->getWindow(); (gdb) print w 0x0 BUT If I do this: (gdb) set objc-non-blocking-mode off (gdb) print w=channel->getWindow() 0x300effb9 // an honest memory location, and sets w as verified in the Debugger window of XCode. It does the same thing for osw. I don't get it. Why would something work in (gdb) but not in the code? The file is completely a cpp file, but it seems to be running in objc++, since I need to turn blocking off. Help!? I feel like I'm missing some memory-management basic thing here, either with C++ or Obj-C. [edit] channel-getWindow() is supposed to do this: /** @return the parent window. @version 1.0 */ Window* getWindow() { return _window; } The code also executes fine if I run it from a C++-only application. [edit] No... I tried creating a simple stand-alone program since I was tired of running it as a plugin. Messy to debug. And no, it doesn't run in the C++ program either. So I'm really at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong. Thanks, -- Stephen Furlani

"rs1" resultset contains 5 record in the table 3. "rs2" resultset contains 5 record in the table "rs" data is getting recursive. while writing to the same text file , the output i am getting like 1 2 3 1 12 21 1 23 25 1 10 5 1 8 54 but i need output like below 1 2 3 12 21 23 25 10 5 8 54 What things i need to change in my code..   • ORA-4030 Troubleshooting

    - by [email protected]
    QUICKLINK: Note 399497.1 FAQ ORA-4030 Note 1088087.1 : ORA-4030 Diagnostic Tools [Video]   Have you observed an ORA-0430 error reported in your alert log? ORA-4030 errors are raised when memory or resources are requested from the Operating System and the Operating System is unable to provide the memory or resources.   The arguments included with the ORA-4030 are often important to narrowing down the problem. For more specifics on the ORA-4030 error and scenarios that lead to this problem, see Note 399497.1 FAQ ORA-4030.   Looking for the best way to diagnose? There are several available diagnostic tools (error tracing, 11g Diagnosibility, OCM, Process Memory Guides, RDA, OSW, diagnostic scripts) that collectively can prove powerful for identifying the cause of the ORA-4030.    Error Tracing   The ORA-4030 error usually occurs on the client workstation and for this reason, a trace file and alert log entry may not have been generated on the server side.  It may be necessary to add additional tracing events to get initial diagnostics on the problem. To setup tracing to trap the ORA-4030, on the server use the following in SQLPlus: alter system set events '4030 trace name heapdump level 536870917;name errorstack level 3';Once the error reoccurs with the event set, you can turn off  tracing using the following command in SQLPlus:alter system set events '4030 trace name context off; name context off';NOTE:   See more diagnostics information to collect in Note 399497.1  11g DiagnosibilityStarting with Oracle Database 11g Release 1, the Diagnosability infrastructure was introduced which places traces and core files into a location controlled by the DIAGNOSTIC_DEST initialization parameter when an incident, such as an ORA-4030 occurs.  For earlier versions, the trace file will be written to either USER_DUMP_DEST (if the error was caught in a user process) or BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST (if the error was caught in a background process like PMON or SMON). The trace file may contain vital information about what led to the error condition.    Note 443529.1 11g Quick Steps to Package and Send Critical Error Diagnostic Informationto Support[Video]  Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) works with My Oracle Support to enable proactive support capability that helps you organize, collect and manage your Oracle configurations. Reference more details on setup and usage in Note 301137.1 OS Watcher User Guide Diagnostic Scripts   Refer to Note 1088087.1 : ORA-4030 Diagnostic Tools [Video] Common Causes/Solutions The ORA-4030 can occur for a variety of reasons.  Some common causes are:   * OS Memory limit reached such as physical memory and/or swap/virtual paging.   For instance, IBM AIX can experience ORA-4030 issues related to swap scenarios.  See Note 740603.1 10.2.0.4 not using large pages on AIX for more on that problem. Also reference Note 188149.1 for pointers on 10g and stack size issues.* OS limits reached (kernel or user shell limits) that limit overall, user level or process level memory * OS limit on PGA memory size due to SGA attach address           Reference: Note 1028623.6 SOLARIS How to Relocate the SGA* Oracle internal limit on functionality like PL/SQL varrays or bulk collections. ORA-4030 errors will include arguments like "pl/sql vc2" "pmucalm coll" "pmuccst: adt/re".  See Coding Pointers for pointers on application design to get around these issues* Application design causing limits to be reached* Bug - space leaks, heap leaks   ***For reference to the content in this blog, refer to Note.1088267.1 Master Note for Diagnosing ORA-4030
