  I'm trying to learn about grails with Google App Engine and JPA by following a few tutorials: http://www.morkeleb.com/2009/08/12/grails-and-google-appengine-beginners-guide/ http://inhouse32.appspot.com/index.html http://grails.org/plugin/app-engine I've got grails 1.3.0 RC 2, and App Engine SDK 1.3.3, and I'm using Windows 7. The steps that I try are: grails create-app appname cd appname grails install-plugin app-engine. I answer jpa when asked about jdo/jpa.   I am getting still over and over again this error, the column age has the type integer, I am saving into this column integer-value, I also tried to don't save nothing into this column, but still getting this error...   Hi, VS 2010 solution and Silverlight project builds fine, then: I open MyView.xaml view in Expression Blend 4 Add sample data from class (I use my class defined in the same project) after I add new sample design data with Expression blend 4, everything looks fine, you see the added sample data in the EB 4 fine, you also see the data in VS 2010 designer too. Close the EB 4, and next VS 2010 build is giving me this errors: Error 7 XAML Namespace http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008 is not resolved. C:\Code\source\...myview.xaml and: Error 12 Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ... TestSampleData.xaml when I open the TestSampleData.xaml I see that namespace for my class used to define sample data is not recognized. However this namespace and the class itself exist in the same project! If I remove the design data from the MyView.xaml: d:DataContext="{d:DesignData /SampleData/TestSampleData.xaml}" it builds fine and the namespace in TestSampleData.xaml is recognized this time?? and then if add: d:DataContext="{d:DesignData /SampleData/TestSampleData.xaml}" I again see in the VS 2010 designer sample data, but the next build fails and again I see studio cant find the namespace in my TestSampleData.xaml containing sample data. That cycle is driving me crazy. Am I missing something here, is it not possible to have your class defining sample design data in the same project you have the MyView.xaml view?? cheers Valko

  Hello everybody! Implemented a generic repository with several Methods. One of those is this: public IEnumerable<T> Find(Expression<Func<T, bool>> where) { return _objectSet.Where(where); } Given to be it is easy to call this like this: Expression<Func<Culture, bool>> whereClause = c => c.CultureId > 4 ; return cultureRepository.Find(whereClause).AsQueryable(); But now i see (realize) that this kind of quering is "limiting only to one criteria". What i would like to do is this: in the above example c is of type Culture. Culture has several properties like CultureId, Name, Displayname,... How would i express the following: CultureId 4 and Name.contains('de') and in another execution Name.contains('us') and Displayname.contains('ca') and .... Those queries should be created dynamically. I had a look in Expression trees (as i thought this to be a solution to my problem - btw i never used them before) but i cannot find anything which points to my requirement. How can this be costructed? Thanks in advance

  For example, these are valid math expressions: a * b + c -a * (b / 1.50) (apple + (-0.5)) * (boy - 1) And these are invalid math expressions: --a *+ b @ 1.5.0 // two consecutive signs, two consecutive operators, invalid operator, invalid number -a * b + 1) // unmatched parentheses a) * (b + c) / (d // unmatched parentheses I have no problem with matching float numbers, but have difficulty with parentheses matching. Any idea? If there is better solution than regular expression, I'll accept as well. But regex is preferred.

  I saw an example of using Expression Builders, and creating your own Custom Expression Builder Classes here: http://aspnet.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/022509-1.aspx However, I fail to see the value in using this approach. It doesn't seem much easier than programmatically setting values in your code behind. As far as I can tell, the only thing you can do with them is set properties. Maybe they would be useful for setting defaults on certain controls? Can anyone shed light on where this ASP.NET feature becomes powerful?

  I am using the Expression Encoder SDK to encode .avi and Flash files to a .wmv format suitable for Silverlight. By default, EE encodes files with audio using the the WMA PRO codec. If you are running Windows Server 2003, this is a problem as it doesn't support the WMA PRO codec and produces and error message similar to the following. Error Message: The Audio Profile settings do not match a valid system profile. Error Source: Microsoft.Expression.Encoder Error Target Site: System.String GetProfileString() I am looking for a way to change the default audio codec to something suitable for WS 2003. I am aware that although not supported natively, there is a highly invasive way to install Windows Media Player 11 and it's codecs on WS 2003 but this involves registry tinkering and other hacks not suitable for our production environments so that solution is out.

• Storing expression references to data base

  I have standard arithmetic expressions sotred as strings eg. "WIDTH * 2 + HEIGHT * 2" In this example WIDTH and HEIGHT references other objects in my system and the literals WIDTH and HEIGHT refers to a property (Name) on those objects. The problem I'm having is when the Name property on an expression object changes the expression won't match anymore. One solution I came up with is to instead of storing "WIDTH * 2 + HEIGHT * 2" i store "{ID_OF_WIDTH} * 2 + {ID_OF_HEIGHT} * 2" And let my parser be able to parse this new syntax and implement an interface or such on referenced objects IExpressionReference { string IdentifierName { get; } } Anyone have a better/alternative solution to my problem?

• Is there a search engine that indexes source code of a web-page?

  I need to search the web for sites that are in our industry that use the same Adwords management company, to ensure that the said company is not violating our contract, as they have been accused of doing. They use a tracking code in the template of every page which has a certain domain in the URL, and I'm wondering if it's possible "Google" the source code using some bot that crawls the code rather than the content? For example, I bought an unlimited license for an image gallery, and I was asked to type the license number in a comment just before the script. I thought it was just so a human could look at the source and find out if someone paid, but it turned out that it was actually that they had a crawler looking for their source code and that comment. If it ran across the code on your site, it would look for the comment, and if it found one, it would check to see if it was an existing one. If not, it would first notify you of your noncompliance, and then notify the owner of the script. Edit: I'm looking to index HTML and JavaScript only, not the server-side languages or Java.

  Hello guys, at the moment I'm really interested in expression templates and want to code a library for writing and differentiating mathematical functions with a lambda-style syntax. At the moment, I'm able to write (_x * _x)(2); and get the correct result 4. But I would really like to do something like MathFunction f = _x * _x; f(2);, but I don't have any ideas on how to cope with the recursive expression templates on the right side. Is it possible to achieve this without using the 'auto'-Keyword instead of MathFunction or having to make the operator() virtual? Thanks for your help!

  I'm currently developping an expression method (used in linq to entity queries) who has to give me a daycount for a given period (start date and end date) decrementing this daycount if specials days are in the period. My idea was the following : Generate an enumerable with all the dates (and with Enumerable.Range) Make a .Where on this enumerable to remove the specials dates Like a MyEnumerable.Where(a = a != "20120101") After that, return a MyEnumerable.Count() I come with this code : return (p) => Enumerable .Range(1, 4) .Where(a => a != 20120101) .AsQueryable() .Count() I tried to cast as a list, as a queryable, both (like the example) and no way ! it doesn't work ! I always get this error : LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[System.Int32] Range(Int32, Int32)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression. Have you got an idea about that ? Using an enumerable is of course not mandatory, any working solutions is good ^^ Thank's by advance !

To give you an idea what I´m thinking about right now, let's have a look at a basic object for a tile map and its objects: public class TileMap { public List<MapRow> Rows = new List<MapRow>(); public int MapWidth = 50; public int MapHeight = 50; } public class MapRow { public List<MapCell> Columns = new List<MapCell>(); } public class MapCell { public int TileID { get; set; } } Having those objects it's just possible to assign a tile to a single MapCell. What I want my engine to support is like having groups of MapCells since I would like to add objects to my tile map (e.g. a house with a size of 2x2 tiles). How should I do that? Should I edit my MapCell object that it may has a reference to other related tiles and how can I find an object while clicking on single MapCells? Or should I do another approach using a global container with all objects in it?

• How can I save state from script in a multithreaded engine?

  We are building a multithreaded game engine and we've encountered some problems as described below. The engine have 3 threads in total: script, render, and audio. Each frame, we update these 3 threads simultaneously. As these threads updating themselves, they produce some tasks and put them into a public storage area. As all the threads finish their update, each thread go and copy the tasks for themselves one by one. After all the threads finish their task copying, we make the threads process those tasks and update these threads simultaneously as described before. So this is the general idea of the task schedule part of our engine. Ok, well, all the task schedule part work well, but here's the problem: For the simplest, I'll take Camera as an example: local oldPos = camera:getPosition() -- ( 0, 0, 0 ) camera:setPosition( 1, 1, 1 ) -- Won't work now, cuz the render thread will process the task at the beginning of the next frame local newPos = camera:getPosition() -- Still ( 0, 0, 0 ) So that's the problem: If you intend to change a property of an object in another thread, you have to wait until that thread process this property-changing message. As a result, what you get from the object is still the information in the last frame. So, is there a way to solve this problem? Or are we build the task schedule part in a wrong way? • Need to Determine the Engine Status?

  If you need to establish the status of the engine, begin with this SQL: select status, engine, engine_version,fore_column_name from dm.forecast_history The status of an engine run is stored in the FORECAST_HISTORY table, in the “status” field.  We can also find in that table the FORE_COLUMN_NAME field. This field includes the name of the column in SALES_DATA in which the relevant forecast is stored. Here are the possible statuses: -1, -2 : The engine failed in the initialization phase.  Which means, before the engine manager created the engines.  0 : The engine stopped in the optimization phase.  Which means, after the engines were created.  1: The engine finished the run successfully.  2: Forecast was never calculated for the relevant column that is mentioned in FORE_COLUMN_NAME.

• unittest import error with virtualenv + google-app-engine-django

  I'm working with google-app-engine-django + zipped django. Just running "python manage.py test" succeeded without error. But with virtualenv, test was failed with "import unittest error". same error with Django 1.1. - OSX 10.5.6 - google-app-engine-django (r101 via svn) : r100 was failed with launcher 1.3.0 - GoogleAppLauncher 1.3.0 -
