  • Matlab help: I am given a second order differential equation.I need to use matlab to find unit step response and impulse response?

    - by Cady Smith
    I have the second order differential equation d^2(y(t))/dt^2+ B1*d(y(t))/dt+ c1*y(t)=A1*x(t) t is in seconds and is greater than 0. A1, B1, C1 are constants that equal: A1= 3.8469x10^6 B1= 325.6907 C1= 3.8469x10^6 This system is linear, time-invariant, and casual. The system is called H1. I want to use Matlab to compute and plot the impulse response function h1(t) and the unit step response function g1(t) of this system.

  • PHP Using session variables in array(s)

    - by Chris
    Hello, My question is how do i put these session variables into a array? I have tried countless ways but none of them work. Not really sure what to put in a array and what no and how to adress them. Currently when i fill in the form the data gets displayed in a table. Next when i press the hyperlink that takes me back to the same form, i wish to enter data again. This data should be added in a new row in the same display table. Best Regards. The code below (pardon me that it is not english). <?php session_start(); ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-Strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title>ExpoFormulier</title> <body> <?php if (!empty($_POST)) { $standnaam = $_POST["standnaam"]; $oppervlakte = $_POST["oppervlakte"]; //value in the form van checkboxes op 1 zetten! $verdieping = isset($_POST["verdieping"]) ? $_POST["verdieping"] : 0; $telefoon = isset($_POST["telefoon"]) ? $_POST["telefoon"] : 0; $netwerk = isset($_POST["netwerk"]) ? $_POST["netwerk"] : 0; if (is_numeric($oppervlakte)) { $_SESSION["standnaam"]=$standnaam; $_SESSION["oppervlakte"]=$oppervlakte; $_SESSION["verdieping"]=$verdieping; $_SESSION["telefoon"]=$telefoon; $_SESSION["netwerk"]=$netwerk; header("Location:ExpoOverzicht.php"); } else { echo "<h1>Foute gegevens, Opnieuw invullen a.u.b</h1>"; } } ?> <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"]; ?>" method="post" id="form1"> <h1>Vul de gegevens in</h1> <table> <tr> <td>Standnaam:</td> <td><input type="text" name="standnaam" size="18"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Oppervlakte (in m^2):</td> <td><input type="text" name="oppervlakte" size="6"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Verdieping:</td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="verdieping" value="1"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Telefoon:</td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="telefoon" value="1"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Netwerk:</td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="netwerk" value="1"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit" name="verzenden" value="Verzenden"/></td> </tr> </table> </form> Second File: <?php session_start(); ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-Strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title>ExpoOverzicht</title> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <link href="StyleSheetExpo.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <h1>Overzicht van de ingegeven standen in deze sessie</h1> <?php $standnaam = $_SESSION["standnaam"]; $oppervlakte = $_SESSION["oppervlakte"]; $verdieping = $_SESSION["verdieping"]; $telefoon = $_SESSION["telefoon"]; $netwerk = $_SESSION["netwerk"]; $result1 = 0; $result2 = 0; $result3 = 0; $prijsCom = 0; $prijsVerdieping = 0; for ($i=1; $i <= $oppervlakte; $i++) { if($i <= 10) { $tarief1 = 1 * 100; $result1 += $tarief1; } if($i > 10 && $i <= 30) { $tarief2 = 1 * 90; $result2 += $tarief2; } if($i > 30) { $tarief3 = 1 * 80; $result3 += $tarief3; } } $prijsOpp = $result1 + $result2 + $result3; if($verdieping == 1) { $prijsVerdieping = $oppervlakte * 120; } if(($telefoon == 1) || ($netwerk == 1)) { $prijsCom = 20; } if(($telefoon == 1) && ($netwerk == 1)) { $prijsCom = 30; } $totalePrijs = $prijsOpp + $prijsVerdieping + $prijsCom; echo "<table class=\"tableExpo\">"; echo "<th>Standnaam</th>"; echo "<th>Oppervlakte</th>"; echo "<th>Verdieping</th>"; echo "<th>Telefoon</th>"; echo "<th>Netwerk</th>"; echo "<th>Totale prijs</th>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>".$standnaam."</td>"; echo "<td>".$oppervlakte."</td>"; echo "<td>".$verdieping."</td>"; echo "<td>".$telefoon."</td>"; echo "<td>".$netwerk."</td>"; echo "<td>".$totalePrijs."</td>"; echo "</tr>"; echo "</table>"; ?> <a href="ExpoFormulier.php">Terug naar het formulier</a> </body> </html> </body> </html>

  • Simple html page using Bootstrap

    - by Athashri
    I am writing a simple HTML page using the Twitter Bootstrap. But the navbar and links are rendered as normal HTML on the browser. I have referred to multiple sites but the same steps are given everywhere. I am not sure where I am going wrong. Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <link rel= "stylesheet" href= "css/bootstrap.css" type="text/css"> <title> Bootstrap example</title> </head> <body> <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.0/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="js/bootstrap.js"></script> <h1>Hello, world!</h1> <div class ="container"> <h1><a href="#">Bootstrap Site</a></h1> <div class="navbar"> <div class="navbar-inner"> <div class="container"> <ul class="nav"> <li class="active"><a href="#">Home</a></li> <li><a href="#">Projects</a></li> <li><a href="#">Services</a></li> <li><a href="#">Downloads</a></li> <li><a href="#">About</a></li> <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • how to properly transfer user input from index to invoice?

    - by Romel
    I got a dillema, I'm trying to find a solution for my code. How do I make it so that when the user inputs a given quantity in the text box from the index.php it will transfer that input quantity to the invoice.php. I've tried doing the post method but it seems like it's not working :/ As always, any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! I hope it's something simple:( Here's my code: index.php <html> <style> body{ background-image: url('URL HERE'); font-family: "Helvetica"; font-size:15px; } h1{ color:black; text-align:center; } p{ font-size:15px; } </style> <h1> STORE TITLE HERE </h1> <body> <form action="login.php" method="post"> <?php //Include products info.inc (Which holds all our product arrays and info) //Credit: Tracy & Mark (THank you!) include 'products_info.inc'; /*The following code centers my table on the page, makes the table background white, makes the table 50% of the browser window, gives it a border of 1 px, gives a padding of 2 px between the cell border and content, and gives 1 px of spacing between cells. */ echo "<table align=center bgcolor='FFFFFF' width=50% border=1 cellpadding=1 cellspacing=2>"; //Credit: Tracy & Mark (THank you!) echo '<th>Product</th> <th>Description</th> <th>Price</th> <th>Quantity</th>'; //The following code loops through the whole table body and then prints each row. for($i=0; $i<count($allfood); $i++) { //Credit: Tracy & Mark (THank you!) echo "<tr align=center>"; echo "<td>{$allfood[$i]['Product']}</td>"; echo "<td>{$allfood[$i]['Description']}</td>"; echo "<td>{$allfood[$i]['Price']}</td>"; echo "<td>{$allfood[$i]['Quantity']}</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } //This code ends the table. echo "</table>"; echo "<br>"; ?> <br><center><input type='submit' name='purchase' value='Purchase'></center> </form> </body> </html> And here's my invoice.php <html> <style> body{ background-image: url('URL HERE'); font-family: "Helvetica"; font-size:15px; } h1{ color:black; text-align:center; } p{ font-size:15px; } </style> <h1> Invoice </h1> </html> <?php //Include products info.inc (Which holds all our product arrays and info) //Credit: Tracy & Mark (Thank you!) include 'products_info.inc'; //Display the invoice & 'WELCOME USER. • How to populate the span tags between specific tags.

    - by Rachel
    I want to populate span tags for all text nodes between the self closing tags s1 and s2 having the same id.If the transformation of the input to the output form requires the list of ids of the s1 , s2 tag pairs say 1, 2 etc i can assume that it is in place in any form if required.The input can have any structure and not exactly the same as seen in the sample input. It can have any number of s1, s2 tag pairs but each pair will have a unique id. Hope i am clear. How can this be achieved using XSL? Input: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>This is my title</title> </head> <body> <h1 align="center">This <s1 id="1" />is my <s2 id="1" />heading</h1> <p> Sample content <s1 id="2" />Some text here. Some content here. </p> <p> Here you <s2 id="2" />go. </p> </body> </html> Desired output: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>This is my title</title> </head> <body> <h1 align="center">This <span id="1">is my </span>heading</h1> <p> Sample content <span id="2">Some text here. Some content here.</span> </p> <p> <span id="2">Here you </span>go. </p> </body> </html>

  • Phonegap (Cordova) iOS button click

    - by JNM
    I am trying to create a very simple phone gap application for iOS. I am using query mobile. the problem is, that i can't get javascript event to fire on button click. Code i have now: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Title</title> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, minimum-scale=1, maximum-scale=1"> <meta charset="utf-8"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="js/jquery.mobile-1.2.0.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="cordova-1.8.1.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="js/jquery-1.8.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="js/jquery.mobile-1.2.0.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> document.addEventListener("deviceready", onDeviceReady, false); function onDeviceReady() { } function showAlert() { navigator.notification.alert("Cordova is working"); } </script> </head> <body> <div data-role="page" id="options" data-add-back-btn="true" data-back-btn-text="Atgal"> <div data-role="header" data-position="fixed"> <h1>Title</h1> </div> <div data-role="content"> <h1>Alert</h1> <p><a href="#" onclick="showAlert(); return false;" data-role="button">Show alert</a></p> </div> </div> </body> </html> I tried multiple solutions to fix my problem, but none of them works. When have button with # in href, it doesn't event change the color on click. When i add url, it changes color. But it never call javascript function. Another problem is, that document.addEventListener("deviceready", onDeviceReady, false); works only in the index page. If i press button in initial page which redirects to another page, OnDeviceReady function is never called. Anybody has any ideas?

  • How SQLite on Android handles long stings?

    - by Levara
    Hi! I'm wondering how Android's implementation of SQLite handles long Strings. Reading from online documentation on sqlite, it said that strings in sqlite are limited to 1 million characters. My strings are definitely smaller. I'm creating a simple RSS application, and after parsing a html document, and extracting text, I'm having problem saving it to a database. I have 2 tables in database, feeds and articles. RSS feeds are correctly saved and retrieved from feeds table, but when saving to the articles table, logcat is saying that it cannot save extracted text to it's column. I don't know if other columns are making problems too, no mention of them in logcat. I'm wondering, since text is from an article on web, are signs like (",',;) creating problems? Is Android automaticaly escaping them, or I have to do that. I'm using a technique for inserting similar to one in notepad tutorial: public long insertArticle(long feedid, String title, String link, String description, String h1, String h2, String h3, String p, String image, long date) { ContentValues initialValues = new ContentValues(); initialValues.put(KEY_FEEDID, feedid); initialValues.put(KEY_TITLE, title); initialValues.put(KEY_LINK, link); initialValues.put(KEY_DESCRIPTION, description ); initialValues.put(KEY_H1, h1 ); initialValues.put(KEY_H2, h2); initialValues.put(KEY_H3, h3); initialValues.put(KEY_P, p); initialValues.put(KEY_IMAGE, image); initialValues.put(KEY_DATE, date); return mDb.insert(DATABASE_TABLE_ARTICLES,null, initialValues); } Column P is for extracted text, h1, h2 and h3 are for headers from a page. Logcat reports only column p to be the problem. The table is created with following statement: private static final String DATABASE_CREATE_ARTICLES = "create table articles( _id integer primary key autoincrement, feedid integer, title text, link text not null, description text," + "h1 text, h2 text, h3 text, p text, image text, date integer);"; Thanks!

  • Image upload not functioning correctly

    - by PurpleSmurf
    I'm still trying to get to grips with PHP, and I'm trying to make a form that uploads a picture to a database. I don't have permissions for move_uploaded_file so I'm using the copy() as an alternative. Everywhere I've seen experiencing similar problems have all been with move_uploaded_file so I'm rather stuck. Trying to copy the image from the desktop doesn't seem to be working, it's not throwing up any more PHP errors but is displaying the error message for if something goes wrong. The form sends data to two tables in the database but I'm mainly concerned with the upload not working. There's over 200 lines so I'll post a snippet of the upload code, thank you in advance: function getExtension($str) { $i = strrpos($str,"."); if (!$i) { return ""; } $l = strlen($str) - $i; $ext = substr($str,$i+1,$l); return $ext; } //This variable is used as a flag. The value is initialized with 0 (meaning no error found) and it will be changed to 1 if an errro occures. If the error occures the file will not be uploaded. $errors=0; //checks if the form has been submitted if(isset($_POST['submitted'])) { //reads the name of the file the user submitted for uploading $image=$_FILES['image']['name']; //if it is not empty if ($image) { //get the original name of the file from the clients machine $filename = stripslashes($_FILES['image']['name']); //get the extension of the file in a lower case format $extension = getExtension($filename); $extension = strtolower($extension); //if it is unknown extension, class as an error and do not upload the file, otherwise continue if (($extension != "jpg") && ($extension != "jpeg") && ($extension != "png") && ($extension != "gif")) { //print error message echo '<h1>Unknown extension!</h1>'; $errors=1; } else { //get the size of the image in bytes //$_FILES['image']['tmp_name'] is the temporary filename of the file in which the uploaded file was stored on the server $size=filesize($_FILES['image']['tmp_name']); //give an unique name, for example the time in unix time format $image_name=time().'.'.$extension; //the new name will be containing the full path where will be stored (images folder) $newname="/home/k0929907/www/uploads/".$image_name; //verify if the image has been uploaded, and print error instead $copied = copy($_FILES['image']['tmp_name'], $newname); if (!$copied) { echo '<h1>Copy unsuccessfull!</h1>'; $errors=1; } } } }

  • Ajax Control Toolkit December 2013 Release

    - by Stephen.Walther
    Today, we released a new version of the Ajax Control Toolkit that contains several important bug fixes and new features. The new release contains a new Tabs control that has been entirely rewritten in jQuery. You can download the December 2013 release of the Ajax Control Toolkit at http://Ajax.CodePlex.com. Alternatively, you can install the latest version directly from NuGet: The Ajax Control Toolkit and jQuery The Ajax Control Toolkit now contains two controls written with jQuery: the ToggleButton control and the Tabs control.  The goal is to rewrite the Ajax Control Toolkit to use jQuery instead of the Microsoft Ajax Library gradually over time. The motivation for rewriting the controls in the Ajax Control Toolkit to use jQuery is to modernize the toolkit. We want to continue to accept new controls written for the Ajax Control Toolkit contributed by the community. The community wants to use jQuery. We want to make it easy for the community to submit bug fixes. The community understands jQuery. Using the Ajax Control Toolkit with a Website that Already uses jQuery But what if you are already using jQuery in your website?  Will adding the Ajax Control Toolkit to your website break your existing website?  No, and here is why. The Ajax Control Toolkit uses jQuery.noConflict() to avoid conflicting with an existing version of jQuery in a page.  The version of jQuery that the Ajax Control Toolkit uses is represented by a variable named actJQuery.  You can use actJQuery side-by-side with an existing version of jQuery in a page without conflict.Imagine, for example, that you add jQuery to an ASP.NET page using a <script> tag like this: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="WebForm1.aspx.cs" Inherits="TestACTDec2013.WebForm1" %> <!DOCTYPE html> <html > <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <script src="Scripts/jquery-2.0.3.min.js"></script> <ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager runat="server" /> <ajaxToolkit:TabContainer runat="server"> <ajaxToolkit:TabPanel runat="server"> <HeaderTemplate> Tab 1 </HeaderTemplate> <ContentTemplate> <h1>First Tab</h1> </ContentTemplate> </ajaxToolkit:TabPanel> <ajaxToolkit:TabPanel runat="server"> <HeaderTemplate> Tab 2 </HeaderTemplate> <ContentTemplate> <h1>Second Tab</h1> </ContentTemplate> </ajaxToolkit:TabPanel> </ajaxToolkit:TabContainer> </div> </form> </body> </html> The page above uses the Ajax Control Toolkit Tabs control (TabContainer and TabPanel controls).  The Tabs control uses the version of jQuery that is currently bundled with the Ajax Control Toolkit (jQuery version 1.9.1). The page above also includes a <script> tag that references jQuery version 2.0.3.  You might need that particular version of jQuery, for example, to use a particular jQuery plugin. The two versions of jQuery in the page do not create a conflict. This fact can be demonstrated by entering the following two commands in the JavaScript console window: actJQuery.fn.jquery $.fn.jquery Typing actJQuery.fn.jquery will display the version of jQuery used by the Ajax Control Toolkit and typing $.fn.jquery (or jQuery.fn.jquery) will show the version of jQuery used by other jQuery plugins in the page.      Preventing jQuery from Loading Twice So by default, the Ajax Control Toolkit will not conflict with any existing version of jQuery used in your application. However, this does mean that if you are already using jQuery in your application then jQuery will be loaded twice. For performance reasons, you might want to avoid loading the jQuery library twice. By taking advantage of the <remove> element in the AjaxControlToolkit.config file, you can prevent the Ajax Control Toolkit from loading its version of jQuery. <ajaxControlToolkit> <scripts> <remove name="jQuery.jQuery.js" /> </scripts> <controlBundles> <controlBundle> <control name="TabContainer" /> <control name="TabPanel" /> </controlBundle> </controlBundles> </ajaxControlToolkit> Be careful here:  the name of the script being removed – jQuery.jQuery.js – is case-sensitive. If you remove jQuery then it is your responsibility to add the exact same version of jQuery back into your application.  You can add jQuery back using a <script> tag like this: <script src="Scripts/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"></script>     Make sure that you add the <script> tag before the server-side <form> tag or the Ajax Control Toolkit won’t detect the presence of jQuery. Alternatively, you can use the ToolkitScriptManager like this: <ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager runat="server"> <Scripts> <asp:ScriptReference Name="jQuery.jQuery.js" /> </Scripts> </ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager> The Ajax Control Toolkit is tested against the particular version of jQuery that is bundled with the Ajax Control Toolkit. Currently, the Ajax Control Toolkit uses jQuery version 1.9.1. If you attempt to use a different version of jQuery with the Ajax Control Toolkit then you will get the exception jQuery 1.9.1 is required in your JavaScript console window: If you need to use a different version of jQuery in the same page as the Ajax Control Toolkit then you should not use the <remove> element. Instead, allow the Ajax Control Toolkit to load its version of jQuery side-by-side with the other version of jQuery. Lots of Bug Fixes As usual, we implemented several important bug fixes with this release. The bug fixes concerned the following three controls: Tabs control – In the course of rewriting the Tabs control to use jQuery, we fixed several bugs related to the Tabs control. AjaxFileUpload control – We resolved an issue concerning the AjaxFileUpload and the TMP directory. HTMLEditor control – We updated the HTMLEditor control to use the new Ajax Control Toolkit bundling and minification framework. Summary I would like to thank the Superexpert team for their hard work on this release. Many long hours of coding and testing went into making this release possible.

  • Metro: Grouping Items in a ListView Control

    - by Stephen.Walther
    The purpose of this blog entry is to explain how you can group list items when displaying the items in a WinJS ListView control. In particular, you learn how to group a list of products by product category. Displaying a grouped list of items in a ListView control requires completing the following steps: Create a Grouped data source from a List data source Create a Grouped Header Template Declare the ListView control so it groups the list items Creating the Grouped Data Source Normally, you bind a ListView control to a WinJS.Binding.List object. If you want to render list items in groups, then you need to bind the ListView to a grouped data source instead. The following code – contained in a file named products.js — illustrates how you can create a standard WinJS.Binding.List object from a JavaScript array and then return a grouped data source from the WinJS.Binding.List object by calling its createGrouped() method: (function () { "use strict"; // Create List data source var products = new WinJS.Binding.List([ { name: "Milk", price: 2.44, category: "Beverages" }, { name: "Oranges", price: 1.99, category: "Fruit" }, { name: "Wine", price: 8.55, category: "Beverages" }, { name: "Apples", price: 2.44, category: "Fruit" }, { name: "Steak", price: 1.99, category: "Other" }, { name: "Eggs", price: 2.44, category: "Other" }, { name: "Mushrooms", price: 1.99, category: "Other" }, { name: "Yogurt", price: 2.44, category: "Other" }, { name: "Soup", price: 1.99, category: "Other" }, { name: "Cereal", price: 2.44, category: "Other" }, { name: "Pepsi", price: 1.99, category: "Beverages" } ]); // Create grouped data source var groupedProducts = products.createGrouped( function (dataItem) { return dataItem.category; }, function (dataItem) { return { title: dataItem.category }; }, function (group1, group2) { return group1.charCodeAt(0) - group2.charCodeAt(0); } ); // Expose the grouped data source WinJS.Namespace.define("ListViewDemos", { products: groupedProducts }); })(); Notice that the createGrouped() method requires three functions as arguments: groupKey – This function associates each list item with a group. The function accepts a data item and returns a key which represents a group. In the code above, we return the value of the category property for each product. groupData – This function returns the data item displayed by the group header template. For example, in the code above, the function returns a title for the group which is displayed in the group header template. groupSorter – This function determines the order in which the groups are displayed. The code above displays the groups in alphabetical order: Beverages, Fruit, Other. Creating the Group Header Template Whenever you create a ListView control, you need to create an item template which you use to control how each list item is rendered. When grouping items in a ListView control, you also need to create a group header template. The group header template is used to render the header for each group of list items. Here’s the markup for both the item template and the group header template: <div id="productTemplate" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div class="product"> <span data-win-bind="innerText:name"></span> <span data-win-bind="innerText:price"></span> </div> </div> <div id="productGroupHeaderTemplate" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div class="productGroupHeader"> <h1 data-win-bind="innerText: title"></h1> </div> </div> You should declare the two templates in the same file as you declare the ListView control – for example, the default.html file. Declaring the ListView Control The final step is to declare the ListView control. Here’s the required markup: <div data-win-control="WinJS.UI.ListView" data-win-options="{ itemDataSource:ListViewDemos.products.dataSource, itemTemplate:select('#productTemplate'), groupDataSource:ListViewDemos.products.groups.dataSource, groupHeaderTemplate:select('#productGroupHeaderTemplate'), layout: {type: WinJS.UI.GridLayout} }"> </div> In the markup above, six properties of the ListView control are set when the control is declared. First the itemDataSource and itemTemplate are specified. Nothing new here. Next, the group data source and group header template are specified. Notice that the group data source is represented by the ListViewDemos.products.groups.dataSource property of the grouped data source. Finally, notice that the layout of the ListView is changed to Grid Layout. You are required to use Grid Layout (instead of the default List Layout) when displaying grouped items in a ListView. Here’s the entire contents of the default.html page: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>ListViewDemos</title> <!-- WinJS references --> <link href="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/css/ui-dark.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/js/base.js"></script> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/js/ui.js"></script> <!-- ListViewDemos references --> <link href="/css/default.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="/js/default.js"></script> <script src="/js/products.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <style type="text/css"> .product { width: 200px; height: 100px; border: white solid 1px; font-size: x-large; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="productTemplate" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div class="product"> <span data-win-bind="innerText:name"></span> <span data-win-bind="innerText:price"></span> </div> </div> <div id="productGroupHeaderTemplate" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div class="productGroupHeader"> <h1 data-win-bind="innerText: title"></h1> </div> </div> <div data-win-control="WinJS.UI.ListView" data-win-options="{ itemDataSource:ListViewDemos.products.dataSource, itemTemplate:select('#productTemplate'), groupDataSource:ListViewDemos.products.groups.dataSource, groupHeaderTemplate:select('#productGroupHeaderTemplate'), layout: {type: WinJS.UI.GridLayout} }"> </div> </body> </html> Notice that the default.html page includes a reference to the products.js file: <script src=”/js/products.js” type=”text/javascript”></script> The default.html page also contains the declarations of the item template, group header template, and ListView control. Summary The goal of this blog entry was to explain how you can group items in a ListView control.

• Refactoring an ERB Template to Haml

    - by Liam McLennan
    ERB is the default view templating system used by Ruby on Rails. Haml is an alternative templating system that uses whitespace to represent document structure. The example from the haml website shows the following equivalent markup: Haml ERB #profile .left.column #date= print_date #address= current_user.address .right.column #email= current_user.email #bio= current_user.bio <div id="profile"> <div class="left column"> <div id="date"><%= print_date %></div> <div id="address"><%= current_user.address %></div> </div> <div class="right column"> <div id="email"><%= current_user.email %></div> <div id="bio"><%= current_user.bio %></div> </div> </div> I like haml because it is concise and the significant whitespace makes it easy to see the structure at a glance. This post is about a ruby project but nhaml makes haml available for asp.net MVC also. The ERB Template Today I spent some time refactoring an ERB template to Haml. The template is called list.html.erb and its purpose is to render a list of tweets (twitter messages). <style> form { float: left; } </style> <h1>Tweets</h1> <table> <thead><tr><th></th><th>System</th><th>Human</th><th></th></tr></thead> <% @tweets.each do |tweet| %> <tr> <td><%= h(tweet['text']) %></td> <td><%= h(tweet['system_classification']) %></td> <td><%= h(tweet['human_classification']) %></td> <td><form action="/tweet/rate" method="post"> <%= token_tag %> <input type="submit" value="Positive"/> <input type="hidden" value="<%= tweet['id']%>" name="id" /> <input type="hidden" value="positive" name="rating" /> </form> <form action="/tweet/rate" method="post"> <%= token_tag %> <input type="submit" value="Neutral"/> <input type="hidden" value="<%= tweet['id']%>" name="id" /> <input type="hidden" value="neutral" name="rating" /> </form> <form action="/tweet/rate" method="post"> <%= token_tag %> <input type="submit" value="Negative"/> <input type="hidden" value="<%= tweet['id']%>" name="id" /> <input type="hidden" value="negative" name="rating" /> </form> </td> </tr> <% end %> </table> Haml Template: Take 1 My first step was to convert this page to a Haml template in place. Directly translating the ERB template to Haml resulted in: list.haml %style form {float: left;} %h1 Tweets %table %thead %tr %th %th System %th Human %th %tbody - @tweets.each do |tweet| %tr %td= tweet['text'] %td= tweet['system_classification'] %td= tweet['human_classification'] %td %form{ :action=>"/tweet/rate", :method=>"post"} = token_tag <input type="submit" value="Positive"/> <input type="hidden" value="positive" name="rating" /> %input{ :type=>"hidden", :value => tweet['id']} %form{ :action=>"/tweet/rate", :method=>"post"} = token_tag <input type="submit" value="Neutral"/> <input type="hidden" value="neutral" name="rating" /> %input{ :type=>"hidden", :value => tweet['id']} %form{ :action=>"/tweet/rate", :method=>"post"} = token_tag <input type="submit" value="Negative"/> <input type="hidden" value="negative" name="rating" /> %input{ :type=>"hidden", :value => tweet['id']} end I like this better already but I can go further. Haml Template: Take 2 The haml documentation says to avoid using iterators so I introduced a partial template (_tweet.haml) as the template to render a single tweet. _tweet.haml %tr %td= tweet['text'] %td= tweet['system_classification'] %td= tweet['human_classification'] %td %form{ :action=>"/tweet/rate", :method=>"post"} = token_tag <input type="submit" value="Positive"/> <input type="hidden" value="positive" name="rating" /> %input{ :type=>"hidden", :value => tweet['id']} %form{ :action=>"/tweet/rate", :method=>"post"} = token_tag <input type="submit" value="Neutral"/> <input type="hidden" value="neutral" name="rating" /> %input{ :type=>"hidden", :value => tweet['id']} %form{ :action=>"/tweet/rate", :method=>"post"} = token_tag <input type="submit" value="Negative"/> <input type="hidden" value="negative" name="rating" /> %input{ :type=>"hidden", :value => tweet['id']} and the list template is simplified to: list.haml %style form {float: left;} %h1 Tweets %table     %thead         %tr             %th             %th System             %th Human             %th     %tbody         = render(:partial => "tweet", :collection => @tweets) That is definitely an improvement, but then I noticed that _tweet.haml contains three form tags that are nearly identical.   Haml Template: Take 3 My first attempt, later aborted, was to use a helper to remove the duplication. A much better solution is to use another partial.  _rate_button.haml %form{ :action=>"/tweet/rate", :method=>"post"} = token_tag %input{ :type => "submit", :value => rate_button[:rating].capitalize } %input{ :type => "hidden", :value => rate_button[:rating], :name => 'rating' } %input{ :type => "hidden", :value => rate_button[:id], :name => 'id' } and the tweet template is now simpler: _tweet.haml %tr %td= tweet['text'] %td= tweet['system_classification'] %td= tweet['human_classification'] %td = render( :partial => 'rate_button', :object => {:rating=>'positive', :id=> tweet['id']}) = render( :partial => 'rate_button', :object => {:rating=>'neutral', :id=> tweet['id']}) = render( :partial => 'rate_button', :object => {:rating=>'negative', :id=> tweet['id']}) list.haml remains unchanged. Summary I am extremely happy with the switch. No doubt there are further improvements that I can make, but I feel like what I have now is clean and well factored.

  • jQuery getting these functions to work together

    - by brett
    I'm new to jQuery and have tried looking around for an answer on how to do this. I have 2 functions and I would like both to work together. The one function is submitHandler and its used to hide a form and at the same time add a class to a hidden element to unhide it - ie a thank you for submitting h1. The other function is to grab the input data and display it onsubmit in the form. So the problem is that I can get that one to work but then the other doesnt. Ie on form submit I can see the data input but not the h1 Thank you message. Here are the functions: SubmitHandler: submitHandler: function() { $("#content").empty(); $("#content").append( "<p>If you want to be kept in the loop...</p>" + "<p>Or you can contact...</p>" ); $('h1.success_').removeClass('success_').addClass('success_form'); $('#contactform').hide(); }, onsubmit="return inputdata()" function inputdata(){ var usr = document.getElementById('contactname').value; var eml = document.getElementById('email').value; var msg = document.getElementById('message').value; document.getElementById('out').innerHTML = usr + " " + eml + msg; document.getElementById('out').style.display = "block"; return true; }, The form uses PHP and jQuery - I dont know about AJAX but after some reading even less sure. Please help me out I dont know what I'm doing and at the moment I am learning but its a long road for me still. Thank you The form: <form method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" id="contactform" onsubmit="return inputdata()"> <div class="_required"><p class="label_left">Name*</p><input type="text" size="50" name="contactname" id="contactname" value="" class="required" /></div><br/><br/> <div class="_required"><p class="label_left">E-mail address*</p><input type="text" size="50" name="email" id="email" value="" class="required email" /></div><br/><br/> <p class="label_left">Message</p><textarea rows="5" cols="50" name="message" id="message" class="required"></textarea><br/> <input type="submit" value="submit" name="submit" id="submit" /> </form> The PHP bit: <?php $subject = "Website Contact Form Enquiry"; //If the form is submitted if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { //Check to make sure that the name field is not empty if(trim($_POST['contactname']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { $name = trim($_POST['contactname']); } //Check to make sure sure that a valid email address is submitted if(trim($_POST['email']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else if (!eregi("^[A-Z0-9._%-]+@[A-Z0-9._%-]+\.[A-Z]{2,4}$", trim($_POST['email']))) { $hasError = true; } else { $email = trim($_POST['email']); } //Check to make sure comments were entered if(trim($_POST['message']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { if(function_exists('stripslashes')) { $comments = stripslashes(trim($_POST['message'])); } else { $comments = trim($_POST['message']); } } //If there is no error, send the email if(!isset($hasError)) { $emailTo = '[email protected]'; //Put your own email address here $body = "Name: $name \n\nEmail: $email \n\nComments:\n $comments"; $headers = 'From: My Site <'.$emailTo.'>' . "\r\n" . 'Reply-To: ' . $email; mail($emailTo, $subject, $body, $headers); $emailSent = true; } } ? The Jquery Validate bit: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#contactform').validate({ showErrors: function(errorMap, errorList) { //restore the normal look $('#contactform div.xrequired').removeClass('xrequired').addClass('_required'); //stop if everything is ok if (errorList.length == 0) return; //Iterate over the errors for(var i = 0;i < errorList.length; i++) $(errorList[i].element).parent().removeClass('_required').addClass('xrequired'); }, Here is the full jQuery bit: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#contactform').validate({ showErrors: function(errorMap, errorList) { //restore the normal look $('#contactform div.xrequired').removeClass('xrequired').addClass('_required'); //stop if everything is ok if (errorList.length == 0) return; //Iterate over the errors for(var i = 0;i < errorList.length; i++) $(errorList[i].element).parent().removeClass('_required').addClass('xrequired'); }, submitHandler: function() { $('h1.success_').removeClass('success_').addClass('success_form'); $("#content").empty(); $("#content").append('#sadhu'); $('#contactform').hide(); }, }); }); Latest edit - Looks like this: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#contactform').validate({ showErrors: function(errorMap, errorList) { //restore the normal look $('#contactform div.xrequired').removeClass('xrequired').addClass('_required'); //stop if everything is ok if (errorList.length == 0) return; //Iterate over the errors for(var i = 0;i < errorList.length; i++) $(errorList[i].element).parent().removeClass('_required').addClass('xrequired'); }, function submitHandler() { $('h1.success_').removeClass('success_').addClass('success_form'); $("#content").empty(); $("#content").append('#sadhu'); $('#contactform').hide(); }, function inputdata() { var usr = document.getElementById('contactname').value; var eml = document.getElementById('email').value; var msg = document.getElementById('message').value; document.getElementById('out').innerHTML = usr + " " + eml + msg; document.getElementById('out').style.display = "block"; }, $(document).ready(function(){ $('#contactForm').submit(function() { inputdata(); submitHandler(); }); }); });

Identifying the target keywords Using the Page Title and Token modules PathAuto configuration <H1> heading tags Optimizing Drupal’s default robots.txt file Etc. While Drupal gives you a lot of ability to make your website content worthy & search engine friendly it is important for you to make sure you are not crossing the line or you could get penalized. Modules Overview Drupal Power is at its best when you have these modules & great brain working together. The basic SEO improvements can be achieved easily with the modules enlisted below, but you can win magical rankings if you use them logically & wisely. Understanding your keyword competition & enhancing your content is the basic key to success and ofcourse the modules: Pathauto Automatically create search enging friendly readable URLS from tokens. A token is a piece of data from content, say the author’s username, or the content’s title. For example mysite.com/an-article, rather than mysite.com/node/114 for every node you make. NodeWords Amazingly useful drupal module that allows you to create custom meta tags and descriptions for your nodes, which gives you the ability to target specific keywords and phrases. Page Title Enables you to set an alternative title for the <title></title> tags and for the <h1></h1> tags on a node. Global Redirect Manage content duplication, 301 redirects, and URL validation with this small, but powerful module. Taxonomy manager Make large additions, or changes to taxonomy very easy. This module provides a powerful interface for managing taxonomies. A vocabulary gets displayed in a dynamic tree view, where parent terms can be expanded to list their nested child terms or can be collapsed. robotstxt A robots.txt file is vital for ensuring that search engine spiders don’t index the unwanted areas of your site. This Drupal module gives you the ability to manage your robots.txt file through the CMS admin. xmlsitemap An XML Sitemap lets the search engines index your website content. This module helps in generating and maintaining a complete sitemap for your website and gives you control over exactly which parts of the site you want to be included in the index. It even gives you the ability to automatically submit your sitemap to Google, Yahoo!, Ask.com and Windows Live every time you update a node or at specific interval. Node Import This module allows you to import a set of nodes from a Comma Seperated Values (CSV) or Tab Seperated Values (TSV) text file. Makes it easy to import hundreds-thousands of csv rows and you get to tie up these rows to CCK fields (or locations), and it can file it under the right taxonomy hierarchy. This is Super life saver module.

  • Resolving bounding box collision detection

    - by ndg
    I'm working on a simple collision detection and resolution method for a 2d tile-based bounding box system. Collision appears to work correctly, but I'm having issues with resolving a collision after it has happened. Essentially what I'm attempting to do is very similar to this approach. The problem I'm experiencing is that because objects can be traveling with both horizontal and vertical velocity, my resolution code causes the object to jump incorrectly. I've drawn the following annotation to explain my issue. In this example, because my object has both horizontal and vertical velocity, my object (which is heading upwards and collides with the bottom of a tile) has it's position altered twice: To correctly adjust it's vertical position to be beneath the tile. To incorrectly adjust it's horizontal position to be to the left of the tile. Below is my collision/resolution code in full: function intersects(x1, y1, w1, h1, x2, y2, w2, h2) { w2 += x2; w1 += x1; if (x2 > w1 || x1 > w2) return false; h2 += y2; h1 += y1; if (y2 > h1 || y1 > h2) return false; return true; } for(var y = 0; y < this.game.level.tiles.length; y++) { for(var x = 0; x < this.game.level.tiles[y].length; x++) { var tile = this.game.level.getTile(x, y); if(tile) { if( this.velocity.x > 0 && intersects(this.position.x+dx+this.size.w, this.position.y+dy, 1, this.size.h, x*tileSize, y*tileSize, tileSize, tileSize) ) { this.position.x = ((x*tileSize)-this.size.w); hitSomething = true; break; } else if( this.velocity.x < 0 && intersects(this.position.x+dx, this.position.y+dy, 1, this.size.h, x*tileSize, y*tileSize, tileSize, tileSize) ) { this.position.x = ((x*tileSize)+tileSize); hitSomething = true; break; } if( this.velocity.y > 0 && intersects(this.position.x+dx, this.position.y+dy+this.size.h, this.size.w, 1, x*tileSize, y*tileSize, tileSize, tileSize) ) { this.position.y = ((y*tileSize)-this.size.h); hitSomething = true; break; } else if( this.velocity.y < 0 && intersects(this.position.x+dx, this.position.y+dy, this.size.w, 1, x*tileSize, y*tileSize, tileSize, tileSize) ) { this.position.y = ((y*tileSize)+tileSize); hitSomething = true; break; } } } } if(hitSomething) { this.velocity.x = this.velocity.y = 0; dx = dy = 0; this.setJumping(false); }

  • Tail-recursive merge sort in OCaml

    - by CFP
    Hello world! I’m trying to implement a tail-recursive list-sorting function in OCaml, and I’ve come up with the following code: let tailrec_merge_sort l = let split l = let rec _split source left right = match source with | [] -> (left, right) | head :: tail -> _split tail right (head :: left) in _split l [] [] in let merge l1 l2 = let rec _merge l1 l2 result = match l1, l2 with | [], [] -> result | [], h :: t | h :: t, [] -> _merge [] t (h :: result) | h1 :: t1, h2 :: t2 -> if h1 < h2 then _merge t1 l2 (h1 :: result) else _merge l1 t2 (h2 :: result) in List.rev (_merge l1 l2 []) in let rec sort = function | [] -> [] | [a] -> [a] | list -> let left, right = split list in merge (sort left) (sort right) in sort l ;; Yet it seems that it is not actually tail-recursive, since I encounter a "Stack overflow during evaluation (looping recursion?)" error. Could you please help me spot the non tail-recursive call in this code? I've searched quite a lot, without finding it. Cout it be the let binding in the sort function? Thanks a lot, CFP.

  • CURL & web.py: transfer closed with outstanding read data remaining

    - by Richard J
    Hi Folks, I have written a web.py POST handler, thus: import web urls = ('/my', 'Test') class Test: def POST(self): return "Here is your content" app = web.application(urls, globals()) if __name__ == "__main__": app.run() When I interact with it using Curl from the command line I get different responses depending on whether I post it any data or not: curl -i -X POST http://localhost:8080/my HTTP/1.1 200 OK Transfer-Encoding: chunked Date: Thu, 06 Jan 2011 16:42:41 GMT Server: CherryPy/3.1.2 WSGI Server Here is your content (Posting of no data to the server gives me back the "Here is your content" string) curl -i -X POST --data-binary "@example.zip" http://localhost:8080/my HTTP/1.1 100 Content-Length: 0 Content-Type: text/plain HTTP/1.1 200 OK Transfer-Encoding: chunked Date: Thu, 06 Jan 2011 16:43:47 GMT Server: CherryPy/3.1.2 WSGI Server curl: (18) transfer closed with outstanding read data remaining (Posting example.zip to the server results in this error) I've scoured the web.py documentation (what there is of it), and can't find any hints as to what might be going on here. Possibly something to do with 100 continue? I tried writing a python client which might help clarify: h1 = httplib.HTTPConnection('localhost:8080') h1.request("POST", "http://localhost:8080/my", body, headers) print h1.getresponse() body = the contents of the example.zip, and headers = empty dictionary. This request eventually timed out without printing anything, which I think exonerates curl from being the issue, so I believe something is going on in web.py which isn't quite right (or at least not sufficiently clear) Any web.py experts got some tips? Cheers, Richard

  • How to quickly generate a new string hash after concatenating 2 strings

    - by philcolbourn
    If my math is right, I can quickly generate a new hash value for the concatenation of two strings if I already have the individual hash values for each string. But only if the hash function is of the form: hash(n) = k * hash(n-1) + c(n), and h(0) = 0. In this case, hash( concat(s1,s2) ) = k**length(s2) * hash(s1) + hash(s2) eg. h1 = makeHash32_SDBM( "abcdef", 6 ); h2 = makeHash32_SDBM( "ghijklmn", 8 ); h12 = makeHash32_SDBM( "abcdefghijklmn", 14 ); hx = mod32_powI( 65599, 8 ) * h1 + h2; h1 = 2534611139 h2 = 2107082500 h12 = 1695963591 hx = 1695963591 Note that h12 = hx so this demonstrates the idea. Now, for the SDBM hash k=65599. Whereas the DJB hash has k=33 (or perhaps 31?) and h(0) = 5381 so to make it work you can set h(0) = 0 instead. But a modification on the DJB hash uses xor instead of + to add each character. http://www.cse.yorku.ca/~oz/hash.html Is there another technique to quickly calculate the hash value of concatenated strings if the hash function uses xor instead of +?

  • CSS: Is it possible to get a div that is 100% height, less a top and bottom margin?

    - by Cheeso
    I can get a 100% height div, like this: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html lang="en"> <head> <title>T5</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/> <style type="text/css"> * { padding: 0; margin: 0; } html, body { height: 100%; } body { font-family: "lucida sans", verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 75%; } h1 { font-size: 1.4em; padding: 10px 10px 0; } p { padding: 0 10px 1em; } #container { min-height: 100%; background-color: #DDD; border-left: 2px solid #666; border-right: 2px solid #666; width: 280px; margin: 0 auto; } * html #container { height: 100%; }</style> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <h1>100% Height Div</h1> <p>Lorem...</p> <p>Ut ...</p> </div> </body> </html> But is it possible to get a div with a height of "almost 100%" height? If I want margins at the top and bottom, can I do that? Margins as indicated here:

  • Implementing scroll view that is much larger than the screen view with random images

    - by pulegium
    What I'm trying to do is to implement something like the fruit machine scroll view. Basically I have a sequence of images (randomly generated on the fly) and I want to allow the users to scroll through this line. There can fit approx 10 images on the screen, but the line is virtually unlimited. My question is what would be the best approach in implementing this? So far I've thought of having a UIImageView going across the screen (with width equal to the sum of 10 images) and the image associated with it would be a combination of 12 or so images, with two images falling out of the visible area, this would allow for smooth scrolling. If the user scrolls further, then I would reconstruct the image associated with the view so the new images are appended and the old one's are discarded. This image reconstruction business sounds bit complicated, so I was wondering if there's a more logical way to implement this. There's one more thing, I want to have two lines crossing each other with images, bit like conveyor belts crossing. If that makes any sense... Bit like below: V1 V2 H1 H2 H3 H4 H5 V4 V5 So if the vertical belt is moved it'd be like: V2 H3 H1 H2 V4 H4 H5 V5 V6 H1-H5, V1-V6 being automatically generated images. I'm not asking for the implementation code, just the thoughts on the principles how to implement this. Thanks!! :)
