    Getting an error when trying to set a ForeignKeyAttribute in a base class class User{} abstract class FruitBase{ [ForeignKey("CreateById")] public User CreateBy{ get; set; } public int CreateById{ get; set; } } class Banana{} class DataContext : DbContext{ DbSet<Banana> Bananas{ get; set; } } If I move the FruitBase code into the banana, all is well, but I don't want to, as there will be many many fruit and I want to remain relatively DRY if I can Is this a know issue that will be fixed by March? Does anyone know a work around?

  • VS2005: two projects doing identical tasks but with different result

    In VS2005 I have multi-project solution. Two of the projects use an external set of DLLs to create a report, using report definition data taken from an SQL Server. One of the projects creates the report just fine, but the other project results in an Exception. I have checked that the projects are referencing the same versions of the all the DLLs and they appear to be identical. What could the cause of this problem?

    i have a problem with a local installation on django cms 2.3.3: i've installed it trough pip, in a separated virtualenv. next i followed the tutorial for settings.py configuration, i started the server. It just depends on what we mean by 'open'.   There are many kinds of 'open' license, and many of these I like.  But  I maintain the GPL; the principle license of the Open Source Software Foundation, is most certainly NOT open for business.  And to the extent that software is conceived, developed, and maintained business, not hobbyists, the GPL is very, very evil.     Fiddler is a very useful tool for troubleshooting all kinds of HTTP(s) communications. It also features various extensibility points to make it even more useful. Using the inspector extensibility mechanism, I quickly knocked up an inspector for typical federation messages (thanks for Eric Lawrence btw). Below is a screenshot for WS-Federation. I also added support for SAML 2.0p request/response messages: The inspector can be downloaded from the identitymodel Codeplex site. Simply copy the binary to the inspector folder in the Fiddler directory.

  • Links won't open in Outlook

    About a week ago Chrome (my default browser) stopped working and I ended up reinstalling. After that, however, links in Outlook 2007, when clicked, no longer open. Instead, I get a warning that reads: General failure. The URL was: URL. Application not found. I presume that there is some MIME or file type association that needs to be configured at the OS level, but I've not had any luck so far. My operating system is Windows 7. Any ideas? EDIT #1 Wayne Johnston suggested I set Chrome as my default browser, but when I go to the Set Default Programs screen in Windows 7 (via Control Panel) I do not see Chrome in the list of programs. How do I get it to show up there?

  • IE9 RC fixed the “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” error when running an ASP.NET application in Visual Studio

    One of the obstacles ASP.NET developers faced in using the Internet Explorer 9 Beta was the dreaded “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” error when running an ASP.NET application in Visual Studio. In the bug information on Connect (issue 601047), Eric Lawrence said that the problem was due to “caused by failure to failover from IPv6 to IPv4 when the connection is local.” Robert MacLean gives some more information as what was going wrong: “The problem is Windows, especially since it assumes IPv6 is better than IPv4. Note […] that when you ping localhost you get an IPv6 address. So what appears to be happening is when IE9 tries to go to localhost it uses IPv6, and the ASP.NET Development Server is IPv4 only and so nothing loads and we get the error.” The Simple Fix - Install IE 9 RC Internet Explorer 9 RC fixes this bug, so if you had tried IE 9 Beta and stopped using it due to problems with ASP.NET development, install the RC. The Workaround in IE 9 Beta If you're stuck on IE 9 Beta for some reason, you can follow Robert's workaround, which involves a one character edit to your hosts file. I've been using it for months, and it works great. Open notepad (running as administrator) and edit the hosts file (found in %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc) Remove the # comment character before the line starting with 127.0.0.1 Save the file - if you have problems saving, it's probably because you weren't running as administrator When you're done, your hosts file will end with the following lines (assuming you were using a default hosts file setup beforehand): # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.     127.0.0.1       localhost #    ::1             localhost Note: more information on editing your hosts file here. This causes Windows to default to IPv4 when resolving localhost, which will point to 127.0.0.1, which is right where Cassini - I mean the ASP.NET Web Development Server - is waiting for it.

  • A short but intense GCC Gathering in London

    About one week ago I joined in London many long time GCC friends and acquaintances for a gathering organized by Google (in particular I guess should be thanked Diego and Ian). Only a weekend, and I wasn't able to attend on Sunday morning, but a very good occasion to raise some issues in a very relaxed way, in particular those at the border between areas of competence, which are the most difficult to discuss during the normal work days. If you are interested in a general overview and some notes this is a good link: http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/GCCGathering2011 As you may easily guess, the third topic is mine, which I managed to have up quite early on Friday morning thanks to the votes of some good friends like Dodji (the ordering of the topics resulted from democratic voting on Friday evening!). I learned a lot from the discussion: for example that certainly the new C++11 'final' should be exploited largely in the c++ front-end; the various reasons why devirtualization can be quite trick (but I'm really confident that Martin and Honza are going to make a good progress also basing on a set of short testcases which I promised to collect); that, as explained by Ian, the gold linker already implements the nice --icf (Identical Code Folding) facility, which some friends of mine are definitely going to like (however, see: http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=12919). I also enjoyed the observations made by Lawrence, where he remarked that in C+11 we are going to see more pointer iterations implicitly produced by the new range-based for-loop and we really want to make sure the loop optimizers are able to deal with those as well as loops explicitly using a counter. All in all, I really hope we are going to do it again!

  • Innovation, Adaptability and Agility Emerge As Common Themes at ACORD LOMA Insurance Forum

Sessions at the ACORD LOMA Insurance Forum this week highlighted the need for insurance companies to think creatively and be innovative with their technology in order to adapt to continuously shifting market dynamics and drive business efficiency and agility.  LOMA President & CEO Robert Kerzner kicked off the day on Tuesday, citing how the recent downtown and recovery has impacted the insurance industry and the ways that companies are doing business.  He encouraged carriers to look for new ways to deliver solutions and offer a better service experience for consumers.  ACORD President & CEO Gregory Maciag reinforced Kerzner's remarks, noting how the industry's approach to technology and development of industry standards has evolved over the association's 40-year history and cited how the continued rise of mobile computing will change the way many carriers are doing business today and in the future. Drawing from his own experiences, popular keynote speaker and Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak continued this theme, delving into ways that insurers can unite business with technology.  "iWoz" encouraged insurers to foster an entrepreneurial mindset in a corporate environment to create a culture of creativity and innovation.  He noted that true innovation in business comes from those who have a passion for what they do.  Innovation was also a common theme in several sessions throughout the day with topics ranging from modernization of core systems, automated underwriting, distribution management, CRM and customer communications management.  It was evident that insurers have begun to move past the "old school" processes and systems that constrain agility, implementing new process models and modern technology to become nimble and more adaptive to the market.   Oracle Insurance executives shared a few examples of how insurers are achieving innovation during our Platinum Sponsor session, "Adaptive System Transformation:  Making Agility More Than a Buzzword." Oracle Insurance Senior Vice President and General Manager Don Russo was joined by Chuck Johnston, vice president, global strategy and alliances, and Srini Venkatasantham, vice president of product strategy.  The three shared how Oracle's adaptive solutions for insurance, with a focus on how the key pillars of an adaptive systems - configurable applications, accessible information, extensible content and flexible process - have helped insurers respond rapidly, perform effectively and win more business. Insurers looking to innovate their business with adaptive insurance solutions including policy administration, business intelligence, enterprise document automation, rating and underwriting, claims, CRM and more stopped by the Oracle Insurance booth on the exhibit floor.  It was a premiere destination for many participating in the exhibit hall tours conducted throughout the day. Finally, red was definitely the color of the evening at the Oracle Insurance "Red Hot" customer celebration at the House of Blues.
